This
is
an
example
how
it
works.
All
the
candidates
will
appear
on
the
ballot
list
in
three
columns
vote
for
the
first
option.
You
prefer
in
the
first
column,
by
filling
in
the
bubble
next
to
the
candidate.
You
want
to
be
the
winner
vote
for
the
candidate
of
your
second
choice
in
the
second
column,
and
vote
for
your
third
choice:
candidate
in
the
third
column,
and
that's
all
you
have
to
do
now.
Let's
see
how
the
votes
are
counted.
Suppose
there
are
four
candidates
in
the
mayoral
race,
omar
and
lucy.
A
A
However,
no
candidate
receives
more
than
half
of
the
votes
votes.
We
will
start
by
removing
candidates
and
counting
the
next
few
votes
in
order
of
preference
of
who
voted.
In
this
example,
zach
is
the
candidate
with
the
fewest
first
choice
votes,
so
his
name
is
removed.
We
use
the
second
choice,
votes
from
the
ballot
with
the
zac's
name,
and
we
count
the
votes
of
the
second
choice
of
the
voters.
If
one
of
the
remaining
candidates
now
has
more
than
half
the
votes,
it
is
declared
that
s
and
dato
is
the
winner
else.
A
The
next
candidate,
with
the
fewest
light
votes
and
the
votes
are
eliminated
of
them,
are
counted
in
the
next
option.
On
the
ballot,
some
of
lucy's
votes
went
to
take
out
who
had
already
been
eliminated.
So
those
new
votes
s
for
zac.
They
tell
the
candidate
of
the
third
choice.
Voters
now
we
have
two
candidates
left
and
omar
clearly
has
half
the
votes
that
makes
him
the
winner.
This
is
how
ranked
choice
voting
works
