Each year the City of Minneapolis honors outstanding employees with Super STAR awards. Since March 2017, more than 175 employees received STAR Awards for their excellence and extraordinary effort on behalf of the City. Of all the winners, one Super STAR is named the best of the year from each recognition category.

category
is
the
shining
star
the
shining
star
is
awarded
to
employees
who
project
a
positive
influence
in
the
workplace.
This
year's
shining
star,
superstar,
Award
recipient,
is
Amy
sizer.
She
works
in
911
as
a
dispatcher
amy
was
nominated
by
Carrie
Sampson
for
her
cheerful
attitude
and
infectious
smile.
She
lightens
the
mood
in
the
stressful
environment
of
911.

The
second
recognition
category
is
the
City
Star.
The
City
Star
is
awarded
for
making
a
significant
impact
on
the
entire
enterprise.
This
year's
City
Star
super
star
award
recipient
is
Sara
Boucher
Jackson.
She
works
in
911
and
Quality
Assurance
specialist
Sara
was
nominated
by
Christine
McPherson
for
coordinating
emergency
communications
plants
with
numerous
partners
for
Super
Bowl
50.
She
made
optimal
use
of
the
available
resources
to
successfully
manage
the
event
without
incident.
The
third
recognition
category
is
the
North
Star.
The
North
Star
is
awarded
to
employees
for
outstanding
leadership.

This
year's
North
Star
super
star,
Award
recipient
is
Janelle
Harris.
She
works
in
911
as
the
operations
manager,
Janelle
was
nominated
by
Heather
hunt
for
coordinating
the
training
and
deployment
of
a
wide
variety
of
Public
Safety
resources
for
Super
Bowl
50
to
her
excellent
communication
and
collaboration
skills
made
it
possible
to
achieve
buy-in
and
support
from
employees
and
outside
partners.
The
final
recognition
category
is
the
co-star.
The
co-star
is
awarded
to
a
team
of
employees
who
work
collectively
to
complete
a
significant
task.
This
year's
co-star
superstar
Award
recipient
is
the
wave
finding
project
team.
A
The
team
includes
Paula
Thompson
and
Trevor
tubers
II
from
the
Convention
Center.
The
wave
finding
project
team
was
nominated
by
Marc
Zerbo
for
working
together
to
create
an
in-house
digital
signage
system
for
the
convention
center.
The
team
saved
the
city
over
two
million
dollars
by
completing
the
project
themselves,
instead
of
hiring
an
outside
vendor.
