Description
Mayor Frey and Police Chief Arradondo discuss how the City is working closely with partners to ensure public safety in Minneapolis before, during and after the Nov. 3 election.
A
Hi
everyone
mayor
jacob
fry
here,
along
with
minneapolis
police
chief
madera
arredondo,
we
know
this
year,
has
been
extremely
challenging
from
the
covid
pandemic
to
the
killing
of
george
floyd
and
subsequent
civil
unrest
to
a
tense
election
season.
We
want
to
let
you
know,
we're
doing
everything
in
our
power
to
keep
minneapolis
voters
safe
and
ensure
the
security
and
integrity
of
the
election
we've
heard
from
residents
and
community
leaders
concerns
about
the
potential
for
civil
unrest
and
for
harassment
or
even
voter
intimidation
at
the
polls
before
during
or
after
election
day.
A
For
many,
this
anxiety
is
a
daily
reality
for
others.
This
anxiety
may
be
new
for
all
of
us,
though
it's
real,
we
know
this
can
be
difficult
and
we
hear
you,
we
understand
your
concerns.
We
are
taking
all
threats
seriously
and
the
city
is
prepared
to
protect
the
people
who
live
in
work
in
and
visit
our
city.
B
We
are
coordinating
with
local
state
and
community
partners
on
our
preparedness
efforts.
We
will
not
hesitate
to
act
to
secure
the
peace
and
safety
of
our
city
before,
during
and
after
election
day,
while
the
number
of
police
officers
on
the
streets
today
may
be
lower
than
at
some
points
in
the
past.
This
will
not
impede
our
ability
to
respond
where
necessary.
B
A
Our
city
chief
aradondo
and
I
are
committed
to
the
safety
and
security
of
minneapolis
people
and
property.
We've
been
actively
working
to
enhance
community
safety
throughout
the
summer
and
fall,
and
the
elections
are
no
different.
You've
heard
this
term
thrown
around
a
lot
an
abundance
of
caution
that
just
means
we're
taking
steps
necessary
steps
to
prepare
in.
