we're
reaching
out
today,
because
January
2020
is
human
trafficking
and
exploitation
Prevention
Month
every
year.
With
this
designation,
we
work
to
create
greater
awareness
of
the
ongoing
fight
against
human
trafficking
locally,
nationally
and
globally.
The
city
is
deeply
committed
to
addressing
human
trafficking
and
exploitation
through
holistic
and
preventative
measures
in
Minneapolis.
Here's
what
that
looks
like
our
new
wage
theft
ordinance,
which
ensures
all
workers
are
paid
contractually
agreed
upon
payment
for
work,
an
ordinance
that
ensures
the
financial
safety
and
well-being
of
adult
entertainers
in
Minneapolis.

The
recently
launched
culturally-specific
young
Women's,
Wellness
and
Leadership
Institute
in
the
Cedar
Riverside
neighborhood,
offering
education,
mentorship
and
leadership
development
for
young
Somali
women
and
a
newly
funded
permanent
position
to
support
trans
equity
work
for
the
city.

organizing
hosting
and
attending
educational
programs
and
activities
that
help
raise
awareness.

can
