D
D
Dorothy,
can
you
please
help
us
understand
what
a
recruiter
does
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
E
Well,
first
I
want
to
say
good
afternoon
and
I'm
so
happy
to
be
here.
Thank
you
for
having
me
here
today
as
the
human
resources
recruiter.
E
I
am
the
only
one
right
now
in
Minneapolis
I
reach
out
to
the
community
to
share
current
job
opportunities
and
also
the
benefits
for
working
for
Minneapolis
I
also
am
responsible
for
kind
of
connecting
hiring
managers
to
Human
Resources,
also
building
relationships
between
human
resources
and
our
hiring
managers
within
the
City
of
Minneapolis
and
our
city,
Partners,
connecting
with
the
community
community
engagement
going
out
there
and
sharing
the
opportunities
and
also
assisting
with
getting
people
in
you
know
identifying
barriers
and
kind
of
pushing
for
diversifying
our
Workforce.
F
D
E
We
do
have
some
jobs
that
are
continuous,
that
are
continuously
posted.
I
highlighted
our
911
call
taker
that
has
a
hiring
sign-on
for
it's
I,
think
a
thousand
dollars
for
a
hiring
incentive,
and
we
keep
that
open
continuously
and
we're
constantly
taking
applications
for
that,
along
with
our
community
service
officer
kind
of
working
within
with
our
Minneapolis
Police
Department
working,
you
know
in
a
more
community
service
position.
That
is
those
two
positions
are
always
posted
and
kind
of
continuous.
E
F
F
D
Dorothy
as
an
employee
of
the
City
of
Minneapolis
for
quite
some
time
now,
eight
moving
nine
year,
I
I,
enjoy
and
I
love.
The
benefits
that
comes
with
working
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis
help
us
help.
Our
listeners
on
air
understand
some
of
the
specific
benefits
of
working
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
E
Thank
you
for
asking
that
Michael.
The
first
thing
that
I
want
to
highlight.
We
always
talk
about
employee
play
benefits,
but
the
first
thing
I
wanted
to
kind
of
speak
to
was
the
workplace
culture,
which
has
been
a
benefit
for
me.
So
far,
I've
only
been
with
the
city
for
a
month
and
I'm,
going
to
kind
of
speak
to
the
culture
within
my
specific
Department.
E
My
onboarding
process
has
been
has
been
very,
very
like
extremely
supportive
and
organized
it's
almost
as
if,
like
I'm,
a
part
of
a
family,
the
benefit
of
working
with
you
know
supportive
leaders
in
a
supportive
environment.
It's
it
it
makes
me
want.
You
know,
kind
of
boost.
My
morality,
it
makes
me
want
to
work
for
the
city,
and
it
also
it
it
just.
It
makes
me
proud
of
you
know,
being
an
HR
recruiter
and
it
when
I
show
up
for
work
every
single
day,
I'm
always
fired
up,
I'm
ready
to
work.
E
I
know
my
leaders
support
me
and
just
having
a
supportive
work
environment
it
could
really
make
or
break
someone's
career.
That's
the
first
benefit
that
I
wanted
to
point
out
a
lot
of
people.
Don't
really
know
what
it's
like
to
work
for
the
government
and
me
myself,
especially
a
person
of
color.
It's
it.
You
know
it
may
not.
They
may
not
know
what
it
what
it
may
be
like
for
some
of
us,
but
so
far
in
my
first
month,
everything's
been
really
great
and
I
feel,
like
I
have
my
own
little
HR
family.
E
Some
other
benefits
that
I
want
to
highlight
are,
of
course,
our
benefits
and
we
have
competitive
salaries.
I
do
know
that
we
pay
our
some
of
our
positions.
Do
pay
are
some
of
the
best
paid
like
in
the
nation,
some
of
them
within
our
region,
so
we
do
have
really
competitive
competitive
salaries
that
are
paid
also,
we
receive
increases
and
we
have
packages.
You
know
vacation,
holidays,
sick
leave.
We
have
12
days
of
pay
parental
leave.
We
have
12
vacation
days.
E
Also,
the
city
contributes
to
our
HRA
or
Viba
spending
account.
These
are
for
employees
who
are
enrolled
in
our
City's
medical
plan.
You
use
this
to
kind
of
flex
or
pay
for
some
of
your
health
care
expenses.
Those
can
get
kind
of
doesn't
get
kind
of
expensive.
Also,
our
para,
our
retention,
our
excuse
me
our
pension,
all
cities
are
all
city
employees,
we
earn
a
pension
and
our
I
think
it's
seven
percent
is
invested
and
the
the
city
matches
us
per
percentage.
E
Also,
some
other
benefits
are
that
you
know
we
have
life
insurance
employed,
our
EAP.
We
also
have
employee
resource
groups,
those
are
really
big.
We
have
multiple
resource
groups
that
are
supportive,
also
lots
of
Learning
and
Development
opportunities.
We
I
think
there's
a
list
for
you
to
check
out
some
of
the
Full
benefits,
but
my
medical
in
my
health
insurance
and
my
pension
are
like
one
of
the
number
one
things
as
to
why
I
kind
of
came
to
the
city
and
stayed
with
the
government.
E
E
Well,
Michael
A
lot
of
people
do
not
know
that
all
of
our
applications
are
reviewed.
Eyes
On
by
an
HR
staff,
a
lot
of
people
think
that
once
they
submit
an
application
that
a
computer
reviews
it,
but
each
application
that
comes
in
and
we
get
hundreds
of
applications,
they're
reviewed
by
an
HR
staff
member,
so
I
want
to
encourage
applicants
to
be
as
thorough
as
possible
when
they're
answering
those
questions
on
their
application.
E
Also,
another
thing
that
isn't
that
a
lot
of
people
don't
know
is
how
long
our
hiring
process
could
be,
and
that
could
be
kind
of
discouraging
our
current
hiring
process.
Right
now
takes
one
to
two
months
on
average,
and
this
is
just
average,
it
could
be
longer.
It
depends
on
the
position.
It
depends
on
some
of
the
qualifications.
Some
things
take
additional
background
checks
or
it
might.
It
may
just
take
a
longer
process
to
hire.
This
is
much
longer
than
other
employers
or
other
in
the
private
sector.
E
However,
our
HR
department,
we
work
diligently
to
kind
of
communicate
with
applicants
every
step
of
the
way,
so
you
should
be
able
to
hear
where
your
application
is
at
each
step
of
the
way.
So
those
are
two
things
that
I
wanted
to
point
out.
A
lot
of
people
don't
know
that
we
actually
we
you
know
we
it's
actually
someone
that
does
review
every
single
application
that
comes
into
the
city.
E
So,
as
I
stated
before,
Michael
we've
get,
we
get
tons
of
application.
Hundreds
of
applications,
sometimes
so
reading
that
job
description
carefully
and
reviewing
those
minimum
qualifications
to
make
sure
that
you
actually
meet
them,
and
if
you
have
any
questions
on
meeting
them
contacting
someone
the
other
contact
number
on
the
job
on
the
job
posting
just
to
make
sure
that
won't
hurt
at
all.
E
It's
not
going
to
disqualify
disqualify
you
from
applying
or
make
you
look
anyway,
if
you're
kind
of
reach
out
just
to
ask
or
if,
if
you're,
unsure,
sometimes
taking
your
resume
and
comparing
it
to
the
minimum
qualification
just
to
make
sure
you
apply
for
the
job,
so
you
won't
have
to
wait
until
you
get
the
interview
interview
to
demonstrate
that
also
it's
to
take
whatever
experience
you
have
and
try
your
best
to
to
relate
it
to
the
job.
E
I
say
that
all
experience
is
good
experience,
so
really
listing
in
that
job
application.
All
of
your
experience
that
that
could
be
relatable
or
may
not
be
relatable.
You
never
know
I.
Just
always,
you
know
a
tip
for
anyone
is
just
to
always
get
out
all
the
information.
E
Just
because
we
you
never
know
what
could
be
considered
applicable
and
what
could
not
I,
also
I
I
I
do
recommend
keeping
your
resume
updated,
but
in
the
city's
process
the
biggest
piece
is
filling
out
your
job
application
thoroughly,
so
really
really
paying
attention
to
detail
and
adding
all
of
your
experience,
whether
it
be
your
education
requirement,
even
if
you
have
experience
that
isn't
necessarily
in
this
country.
E
All
experience
is,
is
a
good
experience
in
my
book,
so
we
we
try
to
take
our
best
to
kind
of
like
to
make
whatever
experience
you
have
as
relatable
as
possible
so
really
thoroughly.
Reading
that
job
description,
understanding
the
minimum
qualifications
also
knowledge
of
the
substitutions.
We
all
we
always
have
the
substitution
requirement.
I'm
going
to
give
myself
for
an
example.
E
The
minimum
requirement
for
the
job
that
I
am
in
is
a
bachelor's
degree
and
I.
Don't
have
that
so
I
was
able
to
take
my
years
of
experience
in
human
resources
to
kind
of
substitute
those
things.
So
you
just
never
know
when,
when
you
can
take
that
experience
and
when
it
when
it
can
count,
it
can
count
towards
you
being
able
to
you,
you
know,
being
considered
for
the
job,
so
really
really
putting
those
things
in
your
in
your
application.
I
really
really
want
to
stress
that.
F
F
F
D
You
thank
you
so
far,
we're
halfway,
so
we're
going
to
take
a
small,
breathe
break
with
a
traditional
monk
song
and
we'll
be
right
back,
so
don't
go
anywhere,
both
Naomi
and
Dorothy
on
this
is.
C
C
G
G
G
C
D
We
talked
about
jobs,
we
talked
about
recruitment
in
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
Are
there
are
there
opportunities
for
bilingual
candidates,
people
who
speak
two
or
three
languages
among
individuals
who
who
speak
Hmong
can
speak
loud
or
can
speak
English
in
Hmong?
What
are
the
opportunity
for
these
candidates.
E
Well,
Michael
many
of
our
job
postings.
They
include
a
desirable
qualification
that
we
would
like
someone
who
is
bilingual
or
you
know,
have
that
ability
or
have
that
cultural
competency.
E
It's
not
a
specific
requirement
for
our
jobs.
However,
it
is
something
that
is
something
that's
desirable,
something
we
will
want.
E
I
I
want
to
try
to
promote
more
more
bilingual
applicants
to
come
in
I'll,
give
a
brief
little
story:
I
just
had
an
applicant
come
in,
who
did
not
speak
English
at
all,
and
it
was.
It
was
kind
of
a
barrier
for
him
to
be
able
to
submit
an
application.
We
were
able
to
pull
in
one
of
our
one
of
our
HR
Representatives,
who
was
bilingual
and
that's
not
necessarily
one
of
her
job
qualifications.
E
F
D
E
Okay,
Michael
first
I
wanted
to
highlight
our
Step
Up
in
urban
Scholars.
That's
a
way
for
us
to
engage
our
youth.
They
can
come
to
come
through,
come
to
the
city
and
work
through
like
a
summer
program
or
an
internship
and
kind
of
get
the
lay
of
the
land
of
working
for
the
city.
I
came
from
a
city,
Step
Up
type
of
program,
actually
I
started.
That
was
you
know
over
12
years
ago,
and
I
couldn't
go
to
college
directly
after
high
school.
E
That's
a
lot
of
people's
stories
and
I
started
in
one
of
the
city,
internship
programs
and
human
resources,
and
it
kind
of
carved
my
career
path,
so
I
feel
like
that's
a
way
to
for
us
to
diversify
our
Workforce
and
also
kind
of
set
the
tone
for
someone
who
may
be
thinking
about
a
future
in
the
city
and
not
know
where
to
begin
kind
of
engaging
those
young
people.
E
Also,
we
work
with
our
I've
just
now
started
a
relationship
with
our
neighborhood
community
relations
department,
trying
to
attend
events,
and
it's
about
getting
the
word
out
there
and
reaching
those
audiences
I,
don't
believe
even
just
regularly.
Just
posting
on
our
job
site,
because
people
may
not
know
what
we're
hiring,
who
we're
hiring
for
and
also
getting
the
word
out
there
I'm
a
person
of
color
so
I
want
to
be.
E
You
know
a
working
ambassador
of
of
you
know
of
diversifying
our
Workforce
also
I'll,
be
at
the
community
connections
conference
on
June
10th
at
the
Minneapolis
Convention
Center
those
doors
open
at
8
A.M.
You
can
stop
by
there
so
that
that
that
ties
into
the
community
engagement,
I
have
been
signing
up.
We've
been
well
the
not
I.
Excuse
me,
the
City
of
Minneapolis
we've
been
signing
up
for
as
many
community
events.
E
We
can
as
possible,
not
just
your
traditional
job
fairs,
but
actually
family
oriented
community
events
to
get
our
face
out
there
and
build
that
relationship.
We
also
will
be
presenting
at
10
30
at
the
community
connections
conference
at
one
of
our
classrooms.
So
you
can
kind
of
you
know,
get
an
overview
of
our
hiring
process,
get
a
little
bit
more
information
about
the
jobs
out
there
applying
for
our
jobs
and
some
of
the
opportunities
that
we
have
and
also
make.
E
The
connections
myself
and
one
of
my
colleagues
will
have
business
cards
where
you'll
be
able
to
put
names
to
faces
and
actually
connect
with
someone.
F
D
E
Thank
you
Michael,
so
we
will
be
we'll
be
talking
about
best
practices
and
tips
on
how
to
present
your
best
self
when
applying
for
the
city,
we'll
kind
of
go
over
our
application
process.
Take
a
look
at
some
of
our
job
descriptions
and
some
of
our
jobs
that
we
have
open
right
now,
also
we'll
be
going
over
how
to
present
your
best
self
during
an
interview
process,
giving
just
different
tips
and
tricks
on.
You
know
how
to
just
rock
your
rock
out
on
your
interview.
E
Also
we'll
be
talking
about
our
neogov,
which
is
our
applicant
tracking
system
that
we
use,
which
is
powered
by
government
jobs.
We
use
that
to
submit
all
of
our
applications
and
that
could
be
kind
of
it's
not
really.
You
know
it's
it's
it
could
our
application
process
can
be
kind
of
tedious
and
we
want
to
kind
of
go
over
how
to
use
that
system,
how
to
submit
your
application?
E
What
what
information
is
needed?
What's
what's
not
needed,
we're
also
going
to
have
a
q
a
for
people
that
come
in
and
have
any
questions
on
our
hiring
process.
So
it's
going
to
kind
of
be
a
high
level
kind
of
over
review
of
the
entire
hiring
process.
From
start
to
finish,
meaning
you
post,
we
post
a
job
all
the
way
down
to
to
a
job
being
offered,
so
we're
kind
of
going
to
go
over
all
the
process
and
all
the
details
in
between
that.
F
F
F
D
Information
that
you
share
with
us,
you
talked
about
different
jobs
in
the
city.
You
talked
about
your
presentation
at
the
community
connections
conference,
the
process
of
hiring
the
work
culture
and
the
many
opportunities
of
benefits
in
working
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
Is
there
anything
else
that
you
would
like
to
mention
to
our
audience
before
I?
Let
you
go
about
working
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis
and
the
awesome
benefits
that
we're
people
are
getting
from
working
for
the
City
of
Minneapolis.
E
E
We
do
keep
your
information
in
the
in
the
in
the
Neo
group.
Application.
Excuse
me
applicant
tracking
system,
so
once
you
apply
for
that
first
job-
and
you
already
have
most
of
your
information
in
it-
usually
saves.
So
it
makes
it
easier
for
you
to
apply
to
the
next
position.
E
Also
I'm
a
we
have
a
recruiter
now
so
I'm
a
recruiter.
So
if
you
do
have
any
interest
in
another
job
say
something
doesn't
work
out.
I
want
you
to
be
able
to
reach
out
to
me
or
reach
out
to
our
HR
department,
directly
or
some
type
of
HR
representative
to
find
a
good
fit
I'm
able
to
meet
with
people
directly
or
if
you
can't
get
down
to
the
city
hall.
I
can
come,
you
know,
I
can
come
to
you
or
we
can
schedule
a
zoom
or
a
simple
phone
call.
E
If
you
do
need
help
with
some
placement
and
looking
at
some
of
the
jobs
that
we
have
also
you,
you
can
sign
up
to
get
an
email
for
a
position
you're
in
if
you're
interested
in
opens
up,
for
example,
our
firefighter
recruit.
A
lot
of
people
are
waiting
to
for
our
firefighter
job
posting
to
open
up
which
is
going
to
be
next
February.
E
You
can
go
to
www.minneapolis
mn.gov
jobs
and
you
can
click
on
the
button
that
says
receive
job
alerts.
Once
you
click
this,
you
can
kind
of
Select
which
area
you'd
be
interested
in
learning
on
when,
when
a
job
you'll
get
flagged
and
win
a
job,
say
you're
interested
in
Communications
or
a
job
in
in
it,
you
can
kind
of
Select
which
areas
you'd
be
interested
in
working
in
and
we'll
shoot
you
an
email
whenever
we
post
a
job
related
to
that
field.
E
You
can
also
take
a
look
at
some
of
our
job
descriptions
by
researching
our
jobs
on
our
on
our
City
website,
as
well.
Also,
don't
forget
to
come
down
to
the
community
connections
conference
on
June
10th
again
at
the
Minneapolis
Convention
Center.
At
the
basement
level,
the
doors
will
be
open
at
8,
A.M
I'll
be
there
presenting
at
10
30
a.m,
we'll
be
able
to
meet
in
person,
I
hope
to
see
everyone.
That's
tuning
in
there.
