A
quick
look
at
City
news
mayor,
jacob
frye
has
outlined
his
vision
for
the
2020
city
budget
highlights
include
an
increased
investment
in
affordable
housing
funding
for
14,
new
sworn
police
officers
and
a
new
initiatives
to
strengthen
six
cultural
districts
across
Minneapolis.
Now
the
City
Council
will
begin
reviewing
the
proposed
1.6
to
billion
dollar
budget,
pulled
a
series
of
budget
presentations
and
vote
on
the
budget
in
December
visit
the
city's
website
to
learn
more
about
the
budget
process.

city
is
planning
a
series
of
events
and
festivities
to
celebrate
Latino
Heritage
Month,
which
runs
September
15th
to
October
15th.
The
city's
Latino
population
has
grown
significantly
in
recent
decades
with
more
than
44,000
Latinos
calling
Minneapolis
home
today.
The
city
is
also
establishing
the
new
Couture
latino,
empowerment
Commission,
which
will
advise
city
leaders
on
the
issues
and
needs
of
the
Latino
community
in
Minneapolis.
The
city
is
planning
a
welcoming
week
celebration
on
Friday
September
20th
at
the
powder-room
park
in
south
Minneapolis.

Wellstone
international
school,
there
will
be
free
food,
live
performances,
soccer
and
more
to
enjoy.
The
city
is
part
of
welcoming
America
a
network
of
communities
across
the
country
committed
to
becoming
more
inclusive
toward
immigrants
in
all
residents.
