Downtown
East
has
experienced
a
dramatic
transformation
once
a
sea
of
surface
parking
lots.
The
area
has
been
reshaped
by
new
development
and
transformed
into
one
of
the
most
thriving
places
in
Minneapolis,
approximately
91
million
dollars
in
public
funds
have
leveraged
roughly
five
hundred
sixty
nine
million
dollars
in
private
investment
in
the
area.
A
Minneapolis
has
a
nation
leading
climate
action
plan
and
has
joined
cities
across
the
country.
In
posting,
the
US
Environmental
Protection
Agency's
deleted
climate
data
on
the
city's
website.
The
data
contains
information
on
the
basic
science
behind
climate
change,
weather
impacts
from
increased
greenhouse
gas
emissions
and
actions.
The
federal
government
has
taken
to
address
the
problem.
A
Registration
is
open
for
the
Minneapolis
City
Academy
program,
a
chance
to
go
behind
the
scenes
of
city
government
participants
will
tour
the
city's
Emergency
Operations
training
facility
and
the
water
treatment
plant,
learn
about
the
latest
techniques
and
firefighting
and
much
more.
The
program
runs
September
20th
to
October
18th
step
up.
Interns
are
nearing
the
end
of
their
summer.
Internships
nearly
1,700
Minneapolis,
youth
and
young
adults,
ages,
14
to
21,
participated
in
internships
with
213
companies,
government
agencies
and
nonprofits
throughout
the
20
cities.
