The
city's
municipal
minimum
wage
ordinance
takes
effect,
January
1st
2018
large
businesses
that
employ
more
than
100
workers
will
be
required
to
pay
employees
a
minimum
of
$10
an
hour.
Small
businesses
with
100
or
fewer
employees
will
be
required
to
pay
employees
at
least
10
25
an
hour
beginning
July
1st
2018.
The
ordinance
has
a
tiered
phase-in
period
that
reaches
$15
an
hour
for
large
businesses
in
2022
and
2024
for
small
businesses.

City
Council
has
approved
several
Street
closures
around
key
venues
in
downtown
Minneapolis
for
the
upcoming
Super
Bowl
and
associated
festivities
beginning
in
early
January
streets
around
us,
Bank
Stadium
will
be
closed
in
preparation
for
the
big
game.
Nicollet
Mall
of
the
Minneapolis
Convention
Center
will
also
have
street
closures
and
lane
restrictions
later
in
the
month
closer
to
the
February
4th
game.

awarding
the
city
of
Minneapolis
a
1.2
million
dollar
grant
to
help
combat
gun
violence.

grant
money
will
be
used
by
the
city
as
part
of
its
ongoing
work
to
decrease
gun
violence,
particularly
among
youth.
It
will
also
help
fund
the
addition
of
10
sworn
officers
to
the
Minneapolis
Police
Department
for

city
