A
Hi
everyone-
this
is
the
Minneapolis
minute
I'm
Sara
McKenzie,
coming
to
you
from
Minneapolis
City
Hall,
an
innovative
City
program
has
succeeded
in
preserving
770
units
of
affordable
housing
in
Minneapolis.
The
40,
affordable
housing
program
helps
property
owners
obtain
reductions
in
property
taxes,
while
keeping
a
portion
of
their
rental
units
affordable
for
10
years.
This
is
one
of
several
strategies
the
city
is
using
to
address
the
affordable
housing
crisis.
A
City
staff
want
to
hear
from
the
community
as
they
develop
a
food
action
plan.
The
goal
is
to
create
a
more
equitable
climate,
resilient
and
sustainable
local
food
economy.
The
homegrown
Minneapolis
food
Council
is
holding
meetings
on
food
plan
topic
areas
go
to
the
Minneapolis
food
council
website
to
find
out
how
you
can
get
involved
to
be
part
of
the
discussion
with
gardening
season
in
full
swing.
The
city
urges
you
to
protect
local
bees.
A
Pollinator
populations
are
in
sharp
decline,
avoid
pesticides
that
poison
bees,
butterflies
and
other
pollinators
and
don't
buy
plants
already
treated
with
those
pests.
Sighs
gardeners
and
landscapers
should
focus
on
plants
that
nourish
pollinators,
including
a
variety
of
native
flowers
that
bloom
all
season.
Long
check.
Your
neighborhood
gardening
store
for
pollinator
friendly
plants.
That's
it
for
Minneapolis
minute,
thanks
for
watching
we'll
see
you
next
time
