A
A
Want
to
give
a
big
thank
you
to
both
the
speakers
who
are
coming
after
me,
but
also
you
know:
Steve
Kramer
who's
done
an
exceptional
amount
of
work
on
this
through
the
downtown
Council
David
Wilson,
with
green
Minneapolis
who's
also
been
a
wonderful
supporter
and
also
want
to
thank
the
PV
Plaza
technical
team
and
everyone
on
our
city
staff.
Who's
helped
make
this
a
priority,
and
with
that
you
know,
III
sound
like
a
broken
record
saying
this,
but
but
this
really
is
a
a
public-private
partnership.
A
A
The
wonderful
rehabilitation
of
Nicollet
Mall
into
the
end
goal
and
vision
of
this
project
and,
of
course,
councilmember
Lisa
Goodman
who's
going
to
be
speaking
just
after
me.
You
know
she
has
been
working
on
this
project
for
longer
than
I
have
lived
in
the
city
of
Minneapolis
and
I
was
just
mentioning
to
her
a
second
ago.
You
know
I
said
you
know
I,
don't
actually
remember
when
the
last
time
it
was
that
we
could
see
water
on
the
surface
and
see
consistent,
fountains
running
and
she
goes
yeah
you're.
A
And
you
know,
with
this:
we're
talking
about
20,000
square
feet
worth
of
accessible
space,
we're
talking
about
a
new
space
that
understands
that
or
is
historical
integrity
and
vision,
but
is
also
looking
forward
to
the
future
and
we're
also
having
a
space
right
here
that
is
working
in
the
ecosystem
of
what
is
our
downtown
right
next
to
Orchestra
Hall
in
a
vibrant,
downtown
business
district
incorporating
Nicollet
Mall.
This
is
something
that
is.
A
That
is
really
special,
and
you
know
we
haven't
quite
had
the
opportunity
yet
to
see
a
bunch
of
kids
playing
out
on
this
space.
But
but
that's
what
this
is
about.
You
know,
downtown's
are
about
having
fun
losing
yourself
and
wandering
home
a
little
bit
later
than
you
otherwise
would
and
that's
what
ultimately
PV
Plaza
helps
us
to
do,
and
so
this
is
a.
This
is
a
really
proud
day
for
the
city.
None
of
it
would
be
be
possible
without
the
partners
that
I've
mentioned,
as
well
as
the
donors.
A
You
know
that
these
projects,
like
this
takes
money
and
we've
had
a
number
of
wonderful
institutions
and
individuals
who
have
stepped
up
in
incredible
ways
to
fund
this
project
and
make
it
all
possible.
So
you
know
I'm
proud
to
be
here,
I'm
proud
to
be
working
with
all
of
you,
our
city
departments
and
everyone
towards
this
vision,
and
next
up,
I'd
like
to
introduce
someone
who
have
already
mentioned
who's
been
really
critical
to
this
end.
Vision
she's
already
walked
across
the
spot
in
her
bare
feet,
and
she
deserves
to
do
so.
B
Very
rarely
am
I
at
a
loss
for
words.
Those
of
you
who
saw
me
before
the
speaking
part
started
know
that
I'm
just
very
emotional
about
getting
to
this
point,
because
for
me,
as
a
21
year,
resident
of
the
Loring
Park
neighborhood,
PD
Plaza
is
the
backyard
to
people
that
live
on
the
south
end
of
the
mall
PV
Plaza
is
the
place
where
our
friends
at
Target
come
for
lunch
and
PD.
B
Plaza
is
the
backdrop
for
the
magnificent
Minnesota
Orchestra
who
has
worked
as
our
partner
on
this
project
since
day,
one
and
I
see
Michelle
is
here
today
and
I
want
to
thank
you
and
your
board
and
team,
as
well
as
Kevin,
for
all
the
incredible
support
and
work
you
have
put
out
to
make
this
day
happen.
Thank
you.
B
B
So,
on
this
day
of
incredible
happiness
and
very
high
emotion,
I
want
to
thank
my
seventh
Ward
constituents
and
residents
raise
your
hand
if
you're
here
today,
you're
the
reason
that
I
do
this
work.
You
are
what
makes
me
fight
for
you.
I
want
to
thank
you
for
every
penny
of
energy
and
time
that
you
put
into
this.
My
job
is
to
help
your
vision
become
a
reality
and
I
think
on
this
one
we
hit
a
home
run.
Thank
you.
A
Councilmember
Goodman
you
hit
the
nail
on
the
head
next
up,
I'd
like
to
invite
David
Wilson,
who
is
the
head
of
green
Minneapolis.
Now
green
Minneapolis
has
been
a
mainstay
in
this
community
and
they're
constantly
rallying
around
improving
our
public
realm
and
making
sure
that
our
downtown
is
green
and
friendly
and
welcoming
David
you've
set
a
big
vision
and,
in
this
case,
you've
seen
it
to
fruition.
Thank
you
so
much.
Let's
hear
it
for
David
Wilson.
C
Good
afternoon
everybody
I
I'm,
really
thrilled
to
be
here,
I,
see
almost
all
of
the
key
stakeholders.
Who've
been
involved
in
working
on
this
project
and
I've
actually
got
some
notes,
because
I
want
to
try
and
recognize
all
of
you,
but
before
I
make
my
formal
remarks.
I
just
want
to
highlight
that
while
getting
PV
Plaza
renovated
and
revitalized
certainly
took
a
large
community
of
people
coming
together,
there
is
one
person
who
has
been
there
from
the
beginning
and
has
worked
tirelessly
for
the
community
good
and
that
is
councilmember
Lisa
Goodman.
C
C
Cities
can't
do
these
types
of
projects
on
their
own,
they
need
all
of
us.
They
need
our
businesses,
they
need
our
nonprofits,
they
mean
our
need,
our
cultural
institutions
and
they
need
all
of
the
individuals
who
live
in
our
community
to
come
together
and
say.
This
is
important.
This
is
some
place
where
we
need
to
invest
and
we've
had
incredible.
Investment
and
I'm
gonna
call
out
some
of
these
people.
First,
let
me
talk
about
the
public-private
collaborators.
C
In
addition
to
the
city
of
Minneapolis,
taking
the
lead
on
this
project,
the
National
Park
Service
has
been
a
partner
on
this,
because
this
is
now
on
the
National
Register
of
Historic
Places.
So
all
the
changes
that
were
required
to
make
this
a
beautiful,
safe
and
vibrant
spot,
we
needed
to
go
through
the
National
Park
Service,
and
they
were
a
great
partner.
C
I
also
want
to
call
out
the
historic
preservationist,
who,
many
years
ago,
recognized
the
architectural
beauty
of
this
space
and
fought
and
ultimately
collaborated
to
make
sure
that
we
could
bring
this
space
back
to
life.
I
also
want
to
thank
our
landscape,
architects,
city
hired
Conan
partners
to
revitalize
this
space
from
a
design
for
spective
and
by
the
way,
Laura
and
Sarah
I
think
are
here
from
Kohn
and
partners.
C
C
You
know
a
lot
of
people
think
that
when
you
pull
a
lot
of
different
stakeholders
together,
you
get
confusion,
you
get
bureaucracy
and
you
get
bogged
down,
but
in
good
public
partnership
public-private
partnerships
like
the
one
that
did
PV
Plaza.
Instead
with
all
those
diverse
voices,
what
you
get
is
a
magnificent
result.
We
have
incorporated
all
of
those
who
loved
the
trees
and
wanted
more
greening
we've
incorporated
in
those
who
wanted
accessibility,
so
that
older
people
who
need
help
walking
so
that
you
know
parents
pushing
their
strollers
little
kids
could
actually
access
this
entire
Plaza.
C
We
incorporate
it
in
the
interests
of
historic
preservationist
to
make
sure
we
don't
lose
our
historical
architectural
heritage
and
we
incorporate
it
in
public
safety.
And
how
do
we
maintain
this
on
a
sustainable
basis?
You
know
the
pool
has
been
raised
so
that
we
no
longer
have
to
pump
in
you
know
thousands
and
thousands
of
gallons
of
water
to
keep
the
the
fountains
running.
So
we
incorporated
in
all
those
diverse
voices
to
come
up
with
a
magnificent
result.
I
now
want
to
thank
all
of
those
different
stakeholders.
C
First,
the
city
of
Minneapolis
and
former
mayor
Betsy
Hodges
for
the
four
million
dollars
that
they
brought
to
this
project,
two
million
dollars
from
the
state
of
Minnesota
and
the
legislators
representing
this
district,
making
sure
that
that
was
in
the
bonding
bill.
I
then
want
to
thank
Target
Corporation
their
headquarters,
kitty-corner
corporation
in
rich,
Varda
and
I.
Think
riches
here
came
forward
with
our
lead
gift
of
two
million
dollars
to
make
this
project
happen.
C
Let
me
now
also
recognize
are
many
other
incredibly
generous
donors:
US
Bank
Foundation,
Judy,
Dayton,
Margaret
Wordle,
the
Poulet
Family
Foundation,
Ned
Abdul
and
swerve
Oh
development,
the
Carlson
family
foundation,
Alice
Anderson
and
the
Anderson
family
in
honor
of
their
beloved
Nancy,
I'm,
sorry,
I,
Nancy
Anderson
and
the
Anderson
family
in
in
honor
of
their
beloved
spouse
and
father
Bobby.
Anderson
I
also
want
to
thank
Ameriprise
I
want
to
thank
the
Opus
foundation.
I
want
to
thank
Mortenson
construction.
I
saw
Tom
Schneider
from
Piper
Jaffray
Piper
Jaffray
was
an
amazingly
generous
contributor.
C
The
hunch
our
family
is
here,
I
want
to
thank
them
for
their
generosity,
peter
brown,
who
not
only
worked
to
bring
this
vision
to
life
as
a
consultant,
but
also
was
so
so
intrigued
by
the
opportunity
for
this
plaza
that
gave
of
his
own
families
money
to
support
the
project.
There
were
other
donors,
I
don't
have
time
to
list
them
all
and
getting
the
cane,
but
I
just
want
to
leave.
All
of
you
with
one
last
thought.
C
Green
Minneapolis
is
going
to
be
here
for
the
next
several
years,
hopefully
over
many
years
making
this
place
vibrant
and
we
are
going
to
be
counting
on
all
of
you
to
help
us
keep
it
green.
Keep
it
clean,
keep
it
safe,
but,
most
importantly,
filled
with
people
here.
Relaxing
enjoying
beautiful
music
from
our
partners
like
the
Minnesota,
Orchestra
and
I,
know
Michelle
Miller
Burns
is
here
so
the
way
we
want
you
guys
to
support
us.
So
we
want
you
to
be
here.
C
Bring
your
friends,
bring
your
family,
bring
your
kids,
bring
your
grandkids
enjoy
this
beautiful
space
and,
if
you're,
if
you
want
to
help
us
financially
we're
gonna,
be
raising
money
every
single
year
to
bring
great
programming
to
this
space.
We
would
love
to
hear
from
you
with
that
I'm
going
to
pass
it
to
our
to
to
the
mayor.
A
Thank
you
David
in
the
the
next
up
is
our
head
of
the
downtown
counsel,
Steve
Kramer
as
a
city
official
you're,
always
working
on
several
different
projects
at
once,
and
it
takes
a
lot
of
work
to
kind
of
herd
the
cats
and
rally
our
business
community
private
sector
public
sector
in
in
several
different
directions
in
some
cases.
All
at
once,
and
so
looking
back
several
years
ago,
we
were
trying
to
raise
money
for
the
Commons.
We
were
trying
to
raise
money
to
complete
PV
Plaza.
A
We
were
trying
to
allocate
staff
time
as
well
as
do
our
civic
duty
of
engaging
around
all
of
these
different
things.
All
at
once
and
Steve
Kramer
was
really
vital
in
getting
a
whole
lot
of
that
done.
So
I
really
appreciate
your
work,
Steve.
Thank
you
for
rallying
around
downtown
business
community
and
come
on
up.
D
Thank
thank
you
mayor
for
all
of
you
next
and
thankfully
last
speaker,
but
I'm
gonna
I'm
gonna
book
in
the
mayor's
initial
comments
in
a
couple
of
ways
out:
I'm
gonna
start
by
saying
I
I
do
remember
PV
Plaza
when
it
was
in
its
glory.
I
was
living
in
Loring.
Park
came
up
here
to
go
to
graduate
school,
the
Iowa
native
when
I
got
into
politics,
I
used
to
tell
people.
I
came
north
looking
for
a
better
way
of
life
and
they
always
bought
it.
D
But
it
was
true
as
well,
so
I
would
walk
from
my
apartment
in
Loring
Park
across
the
Greenway
past.
This
wonderful
Civic
asset,
just
a
sparkling
asset
for
our
downtown,
and
it
hasn't
been
that
way
for
for
a
very
long
time.
But
now
it's
back
I
mean
this
is
such
an
incredible
asset
for
our
downtown
we've
already
seen
the
young
people
out
there
waiting
in
the
pool
I.
Think
it's
going
to
be
one
of
our
iconic
spots.
It's
the
place.
D
You
have
to
go
to
take
a
picture
if
you're
coming
into
downtown
Minneapolis,
so
I
just
couldn't
be
more
more
pleased
with
how
it
turned
out
and
I.
Think
it's
important
to
note-
and
others
have
said
this-
that
TV
fits
into
a
broader
narrative.
That's
equally
important
for
all
of
our
downtown,
and
that
is
this
commitment,
this
public-private
commitment
to
improving
our
public
realm.
So
we
do
have
the
new
before
that
Commons.
The
central
riverfront
is
on
its
way
with
the
waterworks
park.
D
Even
our
streets
are
getting
better
I
happen
to
walk
up
8th
Street
today
and
even
though
it's
a
construction
zone
right
now,
you
can
see
the
vision
for
H,
Street
and
I
know.
Robyn
Hutchinson
is
here
wider
sidewalks
places
for
trees
and
planting
beds.
So
all
aspects
of
our
downtown
are
moving
in
that
direction
and
that's
critically
important
as
we
become
a
kind
of
a
world-class
city,
a
competitive
City,
a
place
where
more
people
are
living.
D
It's
about
the
importance
of
public-private
partnerships
and,
of
course,
councilmember
Goodman
and
councilmember
I
can
live
that
every
day,
former
council
President
Johnson
before
them
I
can't
imagine
a
Minneapolis
without
that
spirit
of
public-private
cooperation
and
partnership,
and
my
fondest
hope
is
that
we
can
just
maintain
and
continue
that
into
the
future,
because
if
we
can
our
city
as
a
whole
in
our
downtown,
it's
going
to
continue
to
excel
and
we'll
have
more
projects
like
this
in
our
future.
So
thank
you
all
for
being
here
and
I.
Think
it's
time
to
cut
the
ribbon.
A
Before
we
get
to
cut
the
ribbon
to
to
more
of
really
quick
thank
yous
first
to
the
residents,
you
know
you've
endured
for
many
many
years
at
this
point
without
a
fully
functional
and
existent
PV
Plaza.
Thank
you
for
your
advocacy.
Thank
you
for
your
patience
and
then,
ultimately,
thank
you
for
being
hot
here
on
this
really
wonderful
day.
Secondly,
if
you
look
behind
you,
we
have
several
construction
workers
that
worked
on
this
project
to
make
it
come
to
reality.
If
you
could
give
them
a
round
of
applause,
we
appreciate
you.
