Description
Previously, Traffic Control staff only worked daylight hours on weekdays, so when residents called about a parking issue overnight, the police were the only ones available to help. We learned the community wanted our help 24 hours a day, so we have extended our hours overnight. This allows police to focus on emergency issues while we can give you the specialized service you need for any non-emergency parking issues.

A
I
always
felt
a
calling
to
help
others
it's
the
way
that
I
was
raised
and
I'm
proud
to
play
a
small
part
in
keeping
our
city
safe.
My
name
is
conrad.
I'm
a
traffic
code,
compliance
specialist
for
the
city
of
minneapolis.
It's
my
job
to
help
all
residents
and
visitors
move
safely
through
the
city
each
day.
We
do
this
by
ensuring
equal
access
to
parking
and
traffic
resources
to
keep
the
streets
clear.
Previously
we
only
worked
daylight
hours
during
the
weekdays,
so
the
residents
had
a
parking
issue
overnight.
A
The
police
were
the
only
ones
that
were
able
to
respond.
Then
we
learned
the
community
wanted
our
help
24
hours
a
day.
So
then
we
decided
to
test
a
new
overnight
shift.
We
do
much
more
than
just
give
out
parking
tickets.
Our
team
responds
quickly
to
any
3-1-1
or
9-1-1
calls
that
come
in
overnight
for
any
parking
or
traffic
issues.
The
overnight
program
is
important
because
it
relieves
police
letting
them
respond
to
emergency
calls,
while
working
at
night
shift
can
be
challenging.
It's
also
rewarding
to
be
able
to
help
people.
