From YouTube: Introduction to ReCAST Minneapolis – Part 2
Description
This video expands on how communities heal and that, for the most part, communities of color heal collectively. Different people from the community share how they work to heal community.
A
For
me,
my
traumatic
experiences
in
my
first
child
about
16
years
old
and
I,
remember
promising
myself
that
I
wasn't
going
to
do
my
children
provide
an
opportunity
for
my
children
and
turn
out
that
same
way.
Well,
I
successful
with
my
oldest
daughter,
not
having
a
child
as
a
team,
but
my
second
daughter
wound
up
having
a
baby
when
she
was
15
and
and
I
was
discussing.
What
Paul
is
that
the
sad
part
about
it
is,
is
that
you
know
when
you
are
like
15
16
years
old.

A
B
I
worked
with
the
urban
indigenous
population,
Native
American,
but
we're
also
inclusive
of
global
indigenous
cultures.
So
trauma
shows
up.
You
know
for
us,
it's
the
mistrust
of
systems.
It's
institutionalized
racism.
You
know,
educational
disparities.
You
know
a
lot
of
the
usual
things
that
you'll
hear
for
communities
of
color,
but
there's
also
the
aspect
of
sovereignty
which
is
unique
to
Native
Americans.
You
know
where,
as
we're
self-governing
citizens
of
our
tribal
nations
so
living
in
a
city,
though
you
have
all
these
levels
of
you
about
five
different
levels
of
government
overlapping.
B
As
an
indigenous
woman
as
a
person
who
works
with
other
native
people,
I
think
that
we
really
care
about
taking
care
of
each
other.
You
know
we're
very
family
based
and
we're
very
community
oriented,
so
we're
always
looking
out
for
each
other
and
find
ways
finding
ways
to
support
each
other
is
important
to
us.
My.

E
It's
the
space
where
we
can
imagine
it's
our
creativity,
it's
our
joy!
It's
our
ability
to
create
culture
which
why
people
are
fantastic,
a
and
so
yeah.
It's
important
to
talk
about
it.
It's
important
to
participate,
it's
important
to
expand
for
me.
You
know,
as
a
black
woman,
to
to
expand
the
lens
around
again
reimagining
what
it
means
to
heal,
to
be
a
healer
to
offer
healing
who's
capable
who's,
not
who's,
served
by
who's,
not
and
almost
thing.
