From YouTube: Mora Park Grand Opening
Description
The City of Mountain View kicked off summer 2022 with the grand opening of Mora Park on Wednesday, June 22! Located at the corner of Ortega Avenue and Mora Drive, Mora Park is a .45-acre park that features a flower-themed play area, fitness equipment, public art bench, open lawn space and a small seating area. The City hopes everyone enjoys this new addition to the community.
A
A
This
is
our
third
park
opening
the
last
year
and
a
half,
and
this
is
our
first
opening
in
person
in
more
than
three
years.
So
when
you
think
about
that,
that's
something
to
celebrate,
so
we're
very
excited
to
be
back
in
person
to
witness
our
community
experiencing
this
amazing
park
first
hand.
I'd
now
like
to
welcome
our
mayor,
lucas
ramirez,
to
the
podium.
B
Thank
you
kimbra
good
morning
and
welcome
to
my
neighborhood,
my
brother
and
I
grew
up
just
down
the
street
on
gabriel
avenue
and
boy
how
this
area
has
transformed
over
the
years.
It's
nice
to
be
back.
It
is
a
pleasure
to
join
you
for
the
grand
opening
and
dedication
of
mora
park.
I
would
like
to
recognize
my
colleagues
on
the
city
council
vice
mayor
allison,
hicks,
council
member,
margaret
abikoga
council
member
alan
kameen,
either
of
whom
are
in
attendance
council
member
sally
lieber,
councilmember,
lisa,
matac
and
council
member
pat
showalter.
B
Additionally,
I
would
like
to
recognize
our
parks
and
recreation
commission
members
who
are
in
attendance
today,
chair
renee
bryant
vice
chair,
steve,
phillios,
jonathan
davis,
joe
mitchner,
and
sandy
summer.
The
commission
support
and
input
are
integral
to
all
of
our
park
projects,
including
mora
park.
I
would
also
like
to
recognize
our
visual
arts
committee
members
in
attendance,
who
assisted
in
the
selection
of
the
public
art
for
this
park.
My
glorious
brother,
chair
jessica,
vice
chair,
tony
shu,
cliff
bryant,
suzy,
mihar
mirhar
don
whitebread.
Thank
you
all
for
joining
us.
B
I
would
like
to
provide
a
brief
history
of
mora
park
and
how
we
got
to
the
grand
opening
today
in
2019,
the
city
council
approved
the
conceptual
plan
and
name
for
a
new
park
at
ortega
avenue
and
mora
drive
subsequently
named
mora
park.
This
.45,
acre
property
behind
me,
was
dedicated
for
park
use
by
the
developer
of
the
2296
mora
drive
residential
project.
Those
of
you
who
have
been
here
for
a
while
will
remember
that
it
previously
was
an
underutilized
industrial
area.
B
This
park's
theme
was
built
from
community
input.
Residents
came
forward
with
the
idea
of
a
looped
trail
fitness
equipment
lawn
and
play
area,
as
well
as
an
agricultural
theme.
As
such,
we
were
able
to
select
vibrant
elements
that
reflect
the
growth
of
mountain
view's,
past
and
future
construction
began
in
july
2021,
and
thanks
to
the
dedication
and
hard
work
of
our
city
staff
and
development
partners,
we
and
future
generations
now
have
this
beautiful
park
available
for
our
enjoyment.
Thank
you
all
for
being
here
today
to
celebrate
our
newest
park.
C
Hello,
all
right
in
conjunction
with
the
city
council,
the
visual
arts
committee
is
pleased
to
unveil
mountain
view's,
newest
public
art,
installation
orchards
by
bay
area
artist,
angelina
duckett
right.
There.
C
C
C
Using
precision
cutting
techniques
to
accommodate
both
bold
elements
and
subtle
details
orchards
will
delight
all
visitors
to
the
park
as
well
as
those
passing
by
angelina's
hope
is
that
those
viewing
her
artwork
will
be
swept
up
in
a
world
of
color
and
find
themselves
feeling
joy,
happiness
and
inspiration.
If
even
just
for
a
moment.
A
D
B
A
So,
thank
you
all
for
joining
us
at
the
bench
unveiling.
This
is
certainly
a
beautiful
piece.
That's
going
to
be
enjoyed
by
our
residents
for
many
many
years
to
come.
So
the
next
thing
we're
going
to
do
I'd
like
to
invite
council
right
here
right
over
here
to
help
unveil
the
plaques
and
then
after
we
unveil
the
plaques,
it
will
be
followed
by
the
ceremonial
ribbon.
Cutting
beside
me.
A
A
D
We're
gonna
try
to
come
back.
We
always
do
a
community
photo
out
of
our
park
opening,
so
we're
gonna.
Try
this
we're
inviting
all
the
community
members
to
come
up
in
front.
We're
gonna
then
have
shonda
who's
gonna
take
our
photo
for
us.
So
I'm
going
to
invite
the
community
members
to
come
up
over
here.
