Description
The first Tobacco Free Sign is installed at Stars & Stripes Park at Lake Hefner.
A
But
you
know,
starting
stripes
is
one
of
our
historical
parks.
Here
it's
been
around
for
about
60
70
years.
I
know
it
was
a
part
that
I
played
in
personally
when
I
was
growing
up.
It
has
a
long
history
with
a
lot
of
Oklahoma
City
ins.
We've
got
a
new
rocket
ship
here
now
and
we've
just
finished
installing
the
new
lieutenant
Thomas
P
Stafford
statue
that
was
removed
from
the
bicentennial
park
in
front
of
the
Civic
Center
Music
Hall.
So
it's
really
coming
together
as
a
beautifully
themed
Park
that
is
dedicated
to
our
country.
A
Eisenhower
Plaza
is
a
wonderful
new
space
that
our
Park
planners
have
recently
redesigned
and
it
was
a
space
where
a
lot
of
people
have
come
together.
They
know
about
it
because
of
the
big
flag
that
they
see
flying
over
lake
hefner.
That
gets
a
lot
of
attention
and
people
have
seen
it,
but
they've
gone
in.
They
put
a
beautiful
new
closet
in
red
white
blue
with
these
beautiful
gold
stars
on
it
and
there's
a
bus
to
like
the
Eisenhower
there,
and
it's
got
great
over
views
of
the
lake
as
well.
A
A
You
know,
I
think
the
biggest
message
that
we
want
to
get
across
the
bar
to
this
tobacco-free
Park
policy
is
it's
about
respecting
your
neighbor
and
it's
about
being
aware
of
the
children
who
are
around
you,
because,
just
because
you
might
smoke
or
the
people
in
your
family
might
there
are
also
a
lot
of
children
that
come
from
families
or
their
parents.
Don't
like
that.
So
we
just
ask
that
you
be
kind
and
and
not
do
that
around
other
people.
A
The
signs
were
paid
for
very
generously
through
a
grant
from
the
tobacco
settlement,
endowment
trust
which
has
been
working
with
the
city
county
health
department,
and
they
were
ones
that
step
forward
and
told
us
that
they
would
be
more
than
happy
to
pay,
for
the
songs
will
see
them
in
about
153
parks
throughout
the
city
and
they'll
mostly
be
concentrated
in
those
areas
where
there
are
going
to
be
children
at
play.
So
around
the
playground
areas
around
the
sports
field
areas
and
in
those
parks
where
we
know
we
get
a
lot
of
utilization
from
family.
