Description
Ward 6 Councilwoman Meg Salyer explores the musical offerings for students, musicians and music fans at the Rodeo Opry located in the Stockyards.
A
A
Get
singers
with
us
as
well,
tom
is
a
former
board
chair
you're,
currently
on
the
board
of
directors
and
I
must
say.
Tom
and
I
got
to
know
each
other
for
many
many
years
serving
together
on
one
of
our
city
trusts,
the
community
development
block
grant
fund
committee
and
Tom
I
think
you
still
serve
in
that
capacity.
So
thank
you
very
much.
A
A
A
B
B
The
Opry
heritage
foundation
of
Oklahoma
was
founded
by
our
founder
grant,
leftwich
and
a
wonderful
board
of
directors,
and
from
that
point
we
really
became
focused
on
more
than
just
putting
on
a
show,
but
seeing
what
we
could
do
to
help
young
people
realize
their
dreams
and
see
what
we
could
do
for
our
community
perfect.
I
want
to
talk.
B
Your
new
son,
we
did,
we
want
to
thank
devon
energy
for
helping
us
make
that
possible.
Our
sign
first
was
in
a
horrible
storm.
A
few
years
ago
was
blown
off
the
building
landed
on
my
car
and
another
gentleman's
car
and
Devon
Energy
came
in
and
helped
us
with
that,
and
so
we
have
a
beautiful
sign
and
new
Marquis
and
received
that
award.
That
was
so
proud
to
be
in
the.
B
Those
kids
could
come
and
take
lessons
for
just
fifty
cents,
a
lesson
and
when
I
found
that
program
I
knew
we
needed
that
in
Oklahoma
City.
So
many
most
of
our
Oklahoma
City
Schools
are
title
one
schools
and
so
many
families
needed
that
help
and
support.
So
in
2009
we
opened
the
Granville
Community
Music
School,
and
at
that
time
we
started
very
small.
As
W
Smith
asked.
They
told
us.
You
know
that
we
could
model
our
program
after
theirs
and
they
said
start
small
and
then
gradually
grow.
B
B
Is
first
come
first
serve.
We
send
out
the
applications
to
the
teachers
and
as
they
come
in,
we
number
them
it's
not
based
on
talent.
It's
not
based
on
an
audition,
it's
based
on
who
gets
their
application
in
first
and
as
openings
become
available.
We
go
straight
from
the
waiting
list
and
it's
been
the
best
thing
that
we've
ever
done.
These
kids
are
amazing.
A
Credibly,
wonderful,
Tom,
I
know
a
big
function
of
the
board
is
to
raise
the
dollars
to
support
that
event,
and
we
were
talking
about
the
anniversary
performance
that
was
just
held
and
there
was
a
fantastic
auction.
One
of
the
things
that
I
missed
was
a
guitar
signed
by
and
why
don't
you
go
ahead?
I'm
gonna!
Let
you
lead
and
tell
us
the
story
about
this
amazing
guitar.
One.
C
B
A
I
was
really
warmed
by
the
support
from
the
music
community.
You
can
just
see
and
I
think
you
have
such
a
legacy
of
stores
that
have
come
up
through
and
on
your
stage
tell
us
a
little
bit.
I
mean
the
other
night.
We
we
were
entertained
by
one
of
your
students,
so
I
want
to
talk
about
just
a
bit,
but
all
the
way
up
to
tie
england
who
played
with
Garth
yeah.
B
Some
of
our
success
stories-
Brian
White,
is
one
of
our
Oklahoma
City
boys
that
started
with
us
at
the
Oklahoma
Aubrey
as
a
heap
playing
the
drums
and
hoping
to
live
out
his
dream
and
I
remember
the
first
few
times
he
got
up
with
his
guitar.
He
was
so
nervous
and
would
just
stand
and
and
now
he's
Grammy
award-winning
and
just
has
done
some
amazing
things
he's
been
back
several
times
to
do.
Some
of
our
workshops
he's
also
on
our
board
as
an
advisory.
B
To
remember
and
he's
just
really
been
great,
to
see
him
be
so
successful,
but
not
forget
where
he
came
from
and
to
support
our
work
that
we
do
I
Katrina
Elam.
She
also
was
one
of
ours
that
started
out
and
I
remember
when
she
auditioned
with
a
little
yodel
song,
and
we
asked
her
to
perform
that
same
night.
If
she
was
so
great
and
you
know,
she's
gone
on,
she
had
some
great
hits
and
toured
with
Keith
Urban
and
just
start
in
the
George
Strait
sequel
movie,
a
country
strong
and
our
pure
country.
B
C
A
A
B
A
A
C
A
B
Well-
and
we
are
Oklahoma's
official
country
music
show,
governor
Palin
has
proclaimed
us
that
again
all
the
way
back
to
governor
Keating,
who
also
had
in
the
beginning,
but
we
also
want
to
have
a
show
that,
no
matter
what
genre
you
like,
you're,
going
to
find
something
that
you
enjoy
in
this
live
music
show.
So
we
do
try
to
have
a
great
diversity
in
our
ages
of
performers,
but
also
the
style
of
music
that
they
perform
and
you
sure
have.
B
B
B
C
B
You
can
look
on
online
again,
rodeo,
Aubrey,
calm
and
see
our
programs
and
the
things
that
we
do
or
call
us.
If
you
want
to
be
involved,
we
always
need
volunteers,
we
always
need.
If
you
have
instruments
laying
around
at
home
that
you're
not
using,
we
have
students
that
could
use
them,
even
if
they
need
repair
send
them
to
us.
We
can
get
them
repaired.
B
B
Artist,
development
programs,
we
have
2
14,
16
and
younger
and
another
for
adults
who
want
to
go
that
next
level
of
their
performing.
Maybe
they
need
a
little
more
help
with
stage
presence.
Maybe
they
want
more
help
with
vocal
technique.
They
can
come
and
perform
on
a
Friday
night
and
then
Saturday
morning
we
give
a
free
workshop
and
give
them
feedback
based
on
their
performance.
C
Our
collaborations
meg,
going
back
to
your
original
comment
early
in
the
program
about
the
committee
that
we
were
on
I,
got
to
know
some
people
from
positive
tomorrow's.
I
began
to
tutor
there
and
when
I
became
part
of
the
board
of
directors
at
the
Opera
at
said.
Well,
we
we
got
granville
started
as
we've
got
to
make
contact
with
positive
tomorrow's
and
just
last
summer
we
did
a
workshop
with
them
and
now
we're
going
to
do
some
exciting
things.
This
fall
and
since.
