Description
Ward 3 Councilman Larry McAtee finds out about the "Turkey Trot," an after Thanksgiving event that will be held downtown to help raise funds for Special Olympics.
A
Hi
I'm
Larry
magazine
were
three
city
councilman,
as
we
enter
into
the
Thanksgiving
season.
We're
going
to
talk
today
about
an
event.
It's
happening
the
day
after
thanksgiving
the
turkey
trot,
and
we
have
three
people
here
that
are
going
to
share
some
things
about
the
turkey
trot
with
y'all,
first
off
bruce
homes
and
Bruce.
Your
title
is
ahead
of
the
earth
chairman
of
the
board
of
regents.
A
C
Was
formerly
the
principle
of
Emerson
alternative
high
school
and
at
that
time,
Eagle
Ridge
was
a
tremendous
support
in
terms
of
counseling
and
therapeutic
care
of
some
of
the
trouble
children
that
I
served
when
the
opportunity
became
available
for
me
to
serve
on
the
board.
I
thought
it
was
an
excellent
opportunity
to
pay
back
excellent.
A
Then
we
have
jeff's
Owens
and
Jeff
you're
a
volunteer
with
Special
Olympics
correct.
Yes,
this
is
the
first
year
that
special
olympics
has
been
involved
with
the
turkey
trot.
Is
that
right?
Yes,
it
is,
and
there's
gonna
be
some
special
things
that
go
on
for
Special
Olympics
it'll
play
on
words
there,
as
the
turkey
trot
is
over
you're
gonna
have
a
fun
day
down
here.
Is
that
right?
Yes,.
D
A
B
Picked
this
year
right
in
front
of
the
start
right
in
front
of
the
myriad
gardens,
we're
really
promoting
this
thing,
Larry
from
the
standpoint
that
we're
the
first
run,
that's
going
to
really
run
around
the
new
Central
Park
Oklahoma
City,
but
Oklahoma
City
is
developing
and-
and
we
were
actually,
our
walk
is
going
to
be
right
down
the
middle
of
that
park,
and
we
want
you
to
come
back
next
year
and
see
the
park
develop
every
year
in
the
future.
We
know
we
are
really
high
on
oklahoma
city's
downtown
what's
happening
downtown.
B
We
also
are
going
to
go
down
the
to
the
river
park,
the
new
river
park
and
we'll
be
running
along
the
river
park
for
about
two
miles
along
there
and
featuring
that
as
well.
I
think
the
runners
will
see
a
really
good
part
of
Oklahoma
City.
We,
some
of
that
is
obviously
under
development.
It's
being
a
little
bit
rough
right
now,
but
next
year
will
be
better
year
after
that,
we'll
be
better.
B
Yet
we're
going
to
come
back
down
and
as
they
come
back
over
the
bridge
there
they're
going
to
see
the
greatest
view
of
Oklahoma
City
downtown
the
new
Devon
center
right
there
in
the
midst
of
the
eyeball
and
then
they'll
come
back
down,
we'll
have
a
fun
day
at
that
point
in
time
with
the
Special
Olympics
kids,
as
well
as
any
other
kids
that
want
to
come
down
from
Oklahoma
City
we're
not
necessarily
limiting
it
there.
We
want
all
the
kids
coming
to
one
of
the
greatest
aspects
of
the
myriad
gardens.
B
Right
now
is
a
new
playground.
We
want
kids
to
come
back
down
and
see,
and
parents
bring
their
kids
down
and
look
at
that
new
playground.
It's
it's
wonderful!
The
people
that
came
down
for
the
for
the
Spring
Festival
a
spring
arts
festival.
They
got
it
good,
a
good
view
of
it.
We
wanted
to
bring
them
back
down
and
make
sure
they're
part
of
that
now.
B
A
B
Going
to
clowns,
we're
going
to
have
Santa
Claus
make
show
up,
I
was
told
we're
going
to
have
lots
of
events
down
their
face
painting
and
an
can
kind
of
get
into
that
better
because
ends
really
the
ones
handling
fun
day
and
she's
got
lots
and
lots
of
really
neat
things
planned.
Ok,
now
how
do
I
get
enrolled?
B
B
A
A
C
Of
Eagle
Ridge
is
to
promote
healthy
families,
children,
youth
and
adults.
Eagle
ridge
is
a
full-service
counseling
agency.
We
do
mentoring,
counseling
for
troubled
teens.
There
is
a
therapeutic
foster
care
program.
There
is
also
a
family
treatment
center,
all
in
the
asserted
effort
to
make
sure
that
children
and
families
have
the
opportunity
to
live
in
a
healthy
lifestyle
and.
A
D
In
the
capital
area,
we
are
actually
focused
solely
on
Oklahoma
County
and
all
the
proceeds
are
going
to
actually
stay
here
and
help
out
the
kids
here
in
Oklahoma
County.
Throughout
the
year.
We
hold
different
sporting
events
that
are
also
in
collaboration
with
the
state
games
and
the
different
local
events
that
we
hold
are
everywhere
from
bowling
to
basketball,
bocce
ball,
and
we
actually
have
to
sponsor,
though
those
local
events
with
the
schools
and
everything.
Now.
A
D
A
C
Eagleridge
has
done
such
a
tremendous
job
in
making
sure
that
they
plug
in
those
gaps
that
are
needed
to
make
sure
that
children
have
mentors
support
systems.
If
children
are
having
issues
with
alcohol
and
drugs
or
gang
problems.
There
are
some
there's
someone
there
that
can
help.
My
experience
was
that
I
found
eagleridge
to
be
a
tremendous
support
for
me
as
a
principal,
because
I
had
an
agency
to
call
that
had
immediate
volunteering
volunteers
to
come
in
and
support
those
individuals
that
were
at
most
needed
so.
A
D
I'm,
actually,
a
parent
of
a
special-needs
athlete
and
she's
actually
been
participating
in
Special
Olympics
ever
since
she
was
about
three
or
four
years
old.
We
started
with
a
special
program
called
stars
of
the
future,
and
we
worked
our
way
up
through
that
and
she
started
out
doing
a
softball,
throw
a
50-yard
dash
and
now
she's
up
into
middle
school,
now
doing
bocce
ball
bocce.
D
D
A
C
B
C
B
B
We
really,
especially
in
the
parent
ille
way
of
therapeutic
foster
parents.
We
very
much
are
looking-
and
this
is
one
of
the
main
emphasises
we're
trying
to
put
on-
is
that
we
need
additional
there's
about
150
kids
in
you
in
oklahoma,
right
now,
waiting
for
therapeutic
foster
care
parents
right
now
and
again,
therapeutic
foster
care.
Parents
have
a
little
bit
more
of
an
education
process
and
training
process
about
40
hours.
They
have
to
go
through
first
and
and
we
do
a
lot
of
training
with
them.
So
that's
one
of
the
things
we
really
need
mentors.
B
A
Now,
somebody's
interested
in
mentoring,
who
can
they
contact
840
1359,
stayed
real
slow
form,
840
1359
and
if
somebody
is
interested
in
sponsorship,
because
we
do
need
the
funds
to
keep
these
programs
going
for
special
olympics
in
eagle
ridge,
how
can
they
find
out
about
sponsors,
840
1359?
I
think
we've
got
that
phone
and
not
only
are
you
promoting
this,
but
you're
also
excited
about
being
that
first
run
in
downtown
to
what
the
new
Oklahoma
City
is
going
to
look
like
in.
A
Thank
you
all
for
taking
time
to
come
down
and
visit
with
us
and
visit
with
our
viewers.
May
God
bless
you
as
you
continue
to
help
those
people
who
really
need
help,
and
let
me
encourage
you
all
the
day
after
Thanksgiving
burn
off
some
of
that
turkey
get
involved
with
the
turkey
trot
5k
timed
event
and
you've
had
the
particulars
and
we
just
look
forward
to
a
great
time.
Bruce.
Thank
you
for
what
you
do
and
and
Jeff.
Thank
you
for
your
commitment
to
help
those
that
need
our
help.
