Description
Chuck Musson and Susan Brown with the Lake District Coalition discuss their plans and concerns for neighborhoods near Lake Hefner with Oklahoma City Ward 1 Councilman James Greiner.
A
A
C
Basically,
a
group
of
neighborhoods
formed
generally
around
the
west
side
of
Lake
Hefner.
We
were
new,
we
just
formed
about
a
year
ago,
the
various
neighborhoods
involved,
I'm
from
rock
Nowell
Susie's
from
briar
creek
ski
island
lake
club,
is
involved
strongly
regal
lakes
estates,
willow,
creek
estates,
lansbrook,
and,
and
so
we
just
wanted
to
solve
a
few
problems.
C
Little
did
we
know
he'd
talk
about
that,
because
we
decide
to
do
that
ourselves,
but
we
see
how
successful
bricktown
is.
We
see
Midtown.
Our
goal
is
to
brand
the
Lake
District
coalition
and
and
enhance
its
appearance
increase,
though
the
enjoyment
of
living
in
the
area,
and
we
look
at
the
Asian
district
down
on
classon
Boulevard
and
how
I
remember
how
that
area.
Didn't
look
that
great,
but
now
look
at
it.
They
have
statues
and
they
have
little
waterfalls
and
they
have
decorations
in
the
boulevard
islands
and
that's
more
or
less
what
our
goals
are.
C
A
B
And
we
have
had
this
vision
of
revitalizing
as
check
us
at
a
lot
of
what
chuck
is
that
we
wanted
to
revitalize
the
northwest
section
again
that
area
around
Lake
Hefner.
We
have
a
gem
of
sporting
and
restaurants
and
a
lot
of
things
that
you
can
easily
access
with
Lake
Hefner
being
right.
There
we
were,
and
what
probably
originally
brought
us
together
is.
B
Still
we're
still
supposed
to
get
the
emblems
on
the
lanes
themselves,
but
it's
a
great
new
resource
for
people
that
live
in
that
area.
And
it's
it's
about
changing
quality
of
life.
We
want
people
out
of
their
homes.
We
don't
want
you
to
go
home
at
night
park.
Your
car
go
in
your
house
and
watch
TV.
We
want
neighbors
out,
want
people
knowing
each
other.
B
We
want
you
riding
your
bikes
and
waving
at
each
other
as
you
go
down
the
road
and
we
get
on
our
new
bike
lanes
and
we
go
around
Lake,
Hefner
and
but
for
the
whole
area
I
mean
we
want
to
revitalize
the
founders
tower
associations,
doing
landscaping.
Northwest
expressway.
That's
been
my
vision
for
five
years
that
we
can
do
those
same
type
themes
down:
northwest
expressway,
which
is
not
a
lovely
picturesque
place
right
now,
but
it
could
be.
B
We
could
have
landscaping
in
those
medians
and
we
can
change
the
commercial
areas
where
we're
not
just
vapor
shops
and
we're
not
just
pawn
shops.
We
want
great
places
to
ride
our
bikes
to
we
come
home,
we
enjoy
the
outdoors.
We
want
to
go
to
a
cute,
little
bistro
or
maybe
go
workout
it
across
fit
or
ride
our
bike
around
and
stop
and
have
I
mean
you
can
stop
and
have
something
at
louies
on
the
lake
which
is
nice,
and
but
we
want
more
than
that,
we
need
to
change
the
northwest
side.
B
We
need
to
improve
the
neighborhoods,
we
need
people
out,
we
need,
we
need
neighbors
to
know
each
other
know
who
your
neighbors
are.
We
talked
about
security
and
all
of
these
things
and
have
the
best
security
is
having
eyes
on
the
street
having
people
out
of
their
houses.
Walking
their
dogs
pushing
their
kids
playing
in
the
streets
are
not
in
the
streets,
but
you're.
A
A
It
still
think
it
should
probably
be
four
lanes,
but
because
you
guys
organized
we're
very
persistent,
heard
numerous
numerous
things
from
you
guys
that
that
you
ended
up
getting
what
you
what
you
want
to
because
of
me,
you
are
the
ones
I've
lived
there,
so
I,
don't
I,
don't
live,
live
there,
so
I
shouldn't
have
as
much
of
a
say
as
you
guys
do,
and
so
it
was
it's.
It's
real
encouraging
to
hear
you
guys's
vision
for
the
future
of
the
area,
because
I
think
that
that
that
is
extremely
important.
C
Yeah
so
kind
of
total
area
that
we're
very
lucky
to
have
good
working
relationship
with
the
Hefner
police
station
right,
Master,
Sergeant,
Robert,
skala
and
Master
Sergeant
Robert
Henderson
teach.
That
course.
We
we
one
of
the
things
that
one
of
our
goals
for
Lake
District
coalition
was
to
address
a
few
little
old
crime
prevention
issues
and
so
the
crime
prevention,
the
septet
program.
We
were
proud
to
sponsor
it
at
the
Northwest
library
there
at
macarthur
and
northwest
at
the
120.
Second,
and
basically,
the
attendance
blew
out,
blew
out
all
expectations.
C
We
had
a
hundred
and
fifty
hundred
and
sixty
people
and
people
circling
the
parking
lot,
no
parking
left
and
just
left
and
went
home,
and
so
we
had
rented
a
one
of
the
bays
and
as
it
filled,
we
had
to
open
an
additional
bay
to
service
that
need,
and
it
has
to
do
with
landscaping.
It
has
to
do
with
fencing,
has
to
do
with
lighting
and
proper
environmentally
designed.
So
there
are
less
opportunities
for
crime
and
on
and
on
and
on
that
and.
A
C
One
of
the
things
we
wanted
to
just
polish
up
and
improve
a
little
bit
and
actually
that
cept
EDD
program
I,
would
I
would
envision
that
it
would
be
great
if
that
could
be,
could
be
basically
added
to
maybe
the
city,
codes
or
ordinances,
and
and
maybe
some
of
the
city
officials
have
the
opportunity
to
attend
that
program
or
some
of
the
city,
employees
and
mayor
of
fact,
we
were
lucky
enough
to
have
a
professor
from
you
CEO
who
speaks
a
who
doctor.
What
was
her
name.
B
B
A
B
We
do
have
great
plans
for
the
area.
We
are
wanting
all
the
neighborhoods
in
that
Lake
Hefner
area
people
who
have
vision,
who
want
to
be
a
part
of
what
we're
trying
to
do
to
improve
the
quality
of
life
to
get
some
landscaping.
We're
still
have
plans
to
do
landscaping
down
britton
road
and
decorative
lighting,
but
we
need
to
spread
that
out.
We
need
to
improve
these
neighborhoods.
That's
one
thing
that
septet
talked
about
you
know:
plant
trees
fix
your
landscaping.
B
Some
of
these
neighborhoods
are
older,
neighborhoods
and
we
all
come
home
and
we
don't
realize
that
how
the
maintenance
of
our
homes
has
maybe
declined.
So
if
you
are
interested-
and
you
can
contact
us
through
info
at
brier
creek
online
com
info
at
Briar,
Creek
online
com,
we're
going
to
be
setting
up
a
Facebook
page,
we
need
to
do
that.
I
probably
may
try
to
get
that
done
today
or
this
weekend.
C
Yeah,
oh
I,
might
mention
basically,
as
we
talked
about
britton
road
and
the
bike
trails
on
it.
I
might
mention
that
the
red
man
triathlon
that
takes
place
in
September
here
in
Oklahoma
City
part
of
their
route,
is
around
Lake
Hefner
cuts
right
through
that
Britain
road
project,
we're
talking
about
and
then
meanders
on
to
their
total
path,
and
we
envision
I
I.
B
Of
what
we
need
to
do
is
within
the
commercial
entity,
the
people
who
own
those
shopping,
centers
and
the
people
who
own
that
stuff.
We
work
with
us,
the
people
who
own
those
to
say,
let's
improve,
who
you're
leasing
to
if
there
are
apartment
or
if
there
are
homes
that
need
some
help,
let's
all
work
together
and
provide
resources
and
information
to
improve
yeah,
and
so
none
of
that
really
costs
money.
As
a
group
that.
A
C
No,
no
yeah,
we
we
need
to
and
want
to
and
and
actually
our
goal
would
be
on.
Our
leadership
council
would
be
to
have
a
representative
from
each
of
the
member,
neighborhoods
or
so
associations
and
get
involved
in
the
planning
and
the
vision
and
beyond
word
and
upward.
And
that's
that's
our
goal,
because
you
know
it
if
we
just
need
to
make
it
happen
and-
and
it
can
be
done
and
and
regarding.
A
C
Well,
you
know,
eventually,
we
learn
in
life
that
every
day
we
get
up,
we
ultimately
stand
for
something,
and
if
we
don't
do
anything,
we
stand
for
nothing.
So
we've
decided
we're
going
to
stand
for
our
lake
district
coalition
and
we're
going
to
make
it
happen
and
positive
steps
have
already
taken
place
and
we
appreciate
your
help
like.
