Description
Ward 3 Councilman Larry McAtee welcomes Sheryl Presley, TRIAD Coordinator for the City of OKC, and Fire Major Antonio Carbajal to discuss the upcoming Informed Senior Seminar.
A
Hi
I'm
Larry,
McAtee,
ward,
3
city,
councilman
and
we've
got
a
very
interesting,
very
informative
and
very
entertaining
show
for
you
all.
Today
we
have
some
folks.
First
off
we
have
Cheryl
Presley
from
the
try,
a
group
of
the
Oklahoma
City
Police
Department,
and
we
have
major
Carver
Shaw
from
the
Public
Information
Office
of
the
fire
department.
Greetings
thanks
for
coming
down.
Welcome
it's
an
honor
to
be.
B
It
is
crime
prevention
for
seniors,
but
our
primary
goal
is:
what's
a
senior,
a
senior
is
55
and
older,
very
good,
and
our
primary
goal
is
to
reduce
criminal
victimization,
but
actually
we
like
to
think
of
it
as
it's
prevention,
we
cared
very
much
about
preventing
our
seniors
or
anyone
from
being
a
victim,
but
we
do
know
counseling
McAtee,
that
a
lot
of
the
career
criminals
do
prey
on
the
seniors
since
they're,
the
ones
that
have
more
assets,
more
money
and
they're
very
vulnerable.
And
so
we
take
a
lot
of
pride.
B
Food,
but
we
know
we
don't
have
food,
always
at
the
meeting.
They'll
tell
you
major,
but
we
have
three
of
them
that
meet
locally.
We
have
triad
north
that
meets
over
at
the
india
shrine
at
3601
northwest
36th
and
we
meet
at
the
second
Thursday
of
every
month
at
1:30,
and
then
our
triad
South
group
meets
at
the
Woodson
Senior
Center
3401
South
May.
We
meet
the
third
Thursday
at
1:30
and
then
our
triad
East
meets
over
at
our
Spring
Lake
Station,
which
is
one
of
our
substations
through
the
police
department.
B
B
Scams
and
frauds,
and
then
we
have
so
many
wonderful
partners
in
the
community.
So
let's
say
if
we
have
a
senior
that
comes
in
this
happens
quite
a
bit
that
say,
sadly,
they've
lost
their
spouse
and
their
husbands.
They
did
so
many
things
like
their
finances
or
one
of
the
things.
A
lot
of
my
little,
ladies,
sometimes
don't
know
how
to
put
gas
in
their
car.
So
we
have
some
great
partners
that
will
help
them
with
just
the
small
things
or
tree
trimming.
B
A
B
B
If
they'll
contact
me
at
three
one,
six,
four,
three,
three
six,
three
one,
six,
four,
three
three
six
and
then
you
know
sometimes
councilman
McAtee.
It's
not
just
coming
to
the
meetings.
We
have
some
wonderful
volunteer
projects
that
we
do
and
one
of
my
favorite
things
that
we
do
every
year
is
grandparents
raising
green
kids
and
you
always
come
and
give
such
a
wonderful
speech,
because
you
know
our
grandparents.
B
If
the
grandparents
didn't
step
up
to
the
plate
and
raise
these
grandchildren,
I
mean
it
would,
it
would
really
be
devastating
for
these
children.
But
you
know
the
grandparents
do
a
great
job.
We
were
ranked
number
one,
but
now
we're
number
seven
in
the
nation
for
having
more
grandparents
raising
grandchildren.
So
this
is
something
that
we
love
to
do
to
give
back
to
the
community
and
I
have
to
brag
on
my
police
family
last
year
between
the
police
officers
and
civilians
for
the
grandparents
raising
green
kids
out
of
their
own
pockets.
A
A
C
B
Last
year
we
had
close
to
200
and
if
you
had
to
pay
for
a
seminar
out
of
this
out
of
pocket,
this
is
all
free
will
have
firemen
they're
policemen
and
we're
so
excited
this
year.
We're
doing
a
discussion
panel
and
it's
going
to
be
ask
the
doctor.
So
we
have
three
amazing
doctors
in
the
Metro
that
are
giving
up
their
own
time
just
to
be
able
to
provide
the
information
to
the
seniors.
We
have
a
doctor,
that's
going
to
speak
on
Alzheimer's
because
we
know
that
affects
I.
B
Think
most
of
us
today
we
have
a
family
or
friend
that
is
going
through,
that
we've
got
podiatry
and
then
we
have
pain
management.
So
we
are
excited
to
bring
this
I
mean
it's
going
to
be
a
top
notch
program,
and
then
we
have
amazing
breakout
sessions
and
with
time
time
commitments
you
can
attend
two
of
those,
but
we've
got,
of
course,
a
major
carbonyl
and
the
Oklahoma
City
Fire
Department
will
put
on
their
fall
and
fire
prevention.
B
C
A
A
C
B
To
expect
April
1/3
mark
that
date,
it's
a
very
important
date,
we'll
have
our
inform
Senior
Seminar,
it's
free.
If
you're,
if
you're
not
familiar
with
the
campus,
it's
easy
to
find
it's
the
Student
Center
third
floor,
but
look
for
either
a
black
unit
that
says
Oklahoma,
City,
police
or
one
of
our
black
and
white
units
that
say
Oklahoma,
City
police,
we'll
have
yellow
signs.
We've
got
an
amazing
breakfast.
B
We
have
amazing
door
prizes,
I
mean
it's
just
going
to
be
a
wonderful
time
and
to
see
men
and
women
with
the
Oklahoma
City
Police
Department,
the
Oklahoma,
City
Fire
Department,
and
then
the
kind
of
material
ask
the
doctors
that
a
lot
of
times,
sometimes
I,
don't
know
about
you
councilman,
but
when
I
go
in
for
my
physical,
you
always
think.
Okay
I
want
to
ask
the
doctor
this
question.
Then
you
get
in
there
and
you
forget
right.
So
then
you
got
to
asking
it
or
make
another
appointment.
B
A
B
A
B
Gonna
know
everything
that
you
need
to
know
understanding
the
things
that
will
be
sent
to
you
understanding.
If
someone
does
come
to
your
door,
what
to
look
for
information
that
they
do
put
on
the
census
and
information
they
do
not
now
one
of
the
most
important
things
we're
trying
to
get
out
as
they
do
not
ask
for
your
social
security
number.
Why.
A
B
It's
wonderful
information,
it's
preventative!
It
keeps
you
informed
in
what
we
love
about
it.
It's
usually
something!
Maybe
if
you
had
a
neighbor
or
someone
from
church
that
was
not
able
to
attend
if
we
can
get
people
to
help
spread
the
word,
that's
what
helps
us
and,
more
importantly,
it
keeps
the
career
criminal
activity
down.
Why.
B
It's
oh
because
of
the
dollars,
you
know
people
don't
realize.
If
we
do
not
participate
and
we're
not
accounted,
then
we
don't
get
the
funding
that
we
need
and
more
importantly,
did
she
know
that
that
is
our
law,
that
we
are
supposed
to
do
that
as
a
US
citizen
is
to
fill
out
the
citizen
or
the
census.
It
is
our
duty.
It's.
A
A
12:00
12:30
come
learn,
come
fellowship,
have
a
good
time
and
find
out
something
it
will
help
you
your
family
and
your
neighbors.
Absolutely
yes,
I
bless
you
for
watching.
Thank
you
for
the
program.
Thank
you
all
for
coming
down.
Thank
you
for
having
you
for
getting
the
word
out
to
our
seniors,
to
show
the
proper
respect
and
honor
that
they
deserve
for
the
way
they've
worked
and
helped
build
the
city
that
we
enjoy.
God
bless.
Thank
you
for
watching.
