Description
Ward 3 Councilman Larry McAtee discusses the importance and rewards of community involvement with representatives from Dell and the president of the Riverpark Neighborhood Association.
A
Hi
I'm
Larry
mcatee
your
war,
three
City
Councilman
here
in
Oklahoma,
City
and
we've
got
a
very
interesting
and
inspiring
show
for
you.
This
month
we
have
with
his
tummy
hey
present
in
the
river
park,
neighborhood
association
Tommy.
Thank
you
for
taking
time
to
come.
Thank
you
for
having
us
very
good
and
we
have
Rohit
keshava
who's.
The
general
manager
of
the
dell
corporation
here
and
travels
all
over.
The
word
appreciate
your
range
in
your
schedule
to
be
with
us
today:
right,
Thank,
You,
councilman,
pleasure
and
off
camera.
We
were
talking
a
little
bit.
A
Both
an
engineering
degree
and
a
master's,
but
now
you
live
in
mr.
Park
here
in
Oklahoma,
City
and
who's
your
favorite
football
team
when
Texas
A&M
is
not
playing.
Oh
you.
Thank
you,
sir
I
appreciate
it
like
that.
For
that
comment,
didn't
John
grunge
on
nice
to
have
you
with
us,
sir
glad
to
be
here,
and
your
title
with
adele
is
what
sir
I'm
the.
A
D
E
B
Absolutely
we
call
it
the
powering
the
possible
within
dell.
Our
idea
is
to
make
a
difference
in
the
communities
that
we
are
and
it's
on.
It's
not
only
good
business
practice,
because
we
know
that
when
communities
thrive,
businesses
thrive,
but
it
is
also
the
intentions
of
our
people.
They're
not
they're,
coming
to
dell
just
to
do
their
jobs
in
serving
customers,
but
they
truly
want
to
make
a
difference
in
their
communities
and
that's
something
that
we
encourage.
B
B
It
it
absolutely
does
I
mean
that's
one
of
the
reasons
like
I
said
that
attracts
people
to
come
work
for
dell.
You
know
people
in
general
want
to
make
a
difference.
It's
not
just
about
jobs
and
paying
bills,
and
you
know
writing
checks
at
the
end
of
the
month.
They
truly
want
to
make
a
difference
and
we're
just
trying
to
harness
that
not
only
to
serve
our
customers
too,
but
to
serve
the
communities
like
these
that
have
fundamental
neat.
You
know
human
needs
and
shadowing.
C
C
So
another
group
that
I
belong
to
is
a
community
involvement
group
where
we
like
to
to
volunteer
and
go
out
into
the
community
and
help
so
I
was
coming
up
with
a
way
to
put
both
of
those
together,
and
so,
with
our
background
and
being
green
and
our
community
involvement,
we
try
to
put
it
together
and
we
heard
about
river
park
and
river
park
is
our
neighborhood
right
there
at
Dell
anyway.
So
and
we
we
wanted
to
help
and
the
president
came
to
us
and
said
we
have
this
house
and
we
have
these
projects.
C
Can
you
help
us
with
it?
So
it
gave
me
an
opportunity,
an
opportunity
to
take
my
team
and
show
them
some
things
as
far
as
recycling
materials
review
using
materials
using
the
proper
paints
that
don't
affect
the
ozone.
You
know
reducing
our
carbon
footprint
and
things
like
that,
but
at
the
same
time
helping
our
own
neighbors
right
there
in
our
own
neighborhood.
Now.
C
Absolutely
the
green
team
is
now
considered
planet
and
am
planet
going
forward
so
because
we've
encompassed
sand,
we
made
the
the
employee
resource
group
global,
and
so
it
is
a
global
resource
group
in
olive
del
all
the
way
around
the
world
and
with
the
things
that
we've
done
at
River,
Park
we've
actually
benchmarked
our
group
around
the
world.
So
yeah,
definitely
definitely
that's
where
the
our
team
comes
from
his
planet.
Okay,.
A
We've
talked
about
senior
citizens
on
limited
income
with
the
challenge,
we've
talked
about
the
global
vision
for
for
Dell
and
we've
talked
about
the
the
planet
team.
What
have
you
done?
Can
you
give
an
example
for
our
viewers
or
some
project
that
you've
done
in
riverpark
that
we
can
all
identify?
Well.
C
C
C
So
so
not
looking
first,
you
know
we
went
there
and
I
brought
the
team,
and
when
we
got
to
the
house
the
entire
back
half
of
the
house
had
no
insulation,
no
sheetrock,
no
electricity
and
gaps
like
this,
where
animals
could
walk
in
and
out
freely
and
the
heat
was
ungodly,
was
over
that's
the
summer
last
summer,
when
was
over
a
hundred
and
we
went
in
there.
We
thought
what
we
had
to
do
something
here,
and
it
wasn't
just
throwing
up
a
patch
and
putting
down
a
few
tiles.
C
It
was
literally
rebuilding
rebuilding
the
entire
room
and
putting
it
back
together
and
what
a
difference
it
made
and
and
at
the
end
of
it,
the
the
part
that
that
makes
you
feel
is
at
the
end
of
it.
The
children
said
now
that
they
don't
have
to.
They
don't
have
to
worry
about
being
cold
in
the
wintertime,
so
you
know
here
we
are
sweating
through
the
whole
thing
and
they
were
worried
about
the
coldness
coming
up.
A
C
C
So
for
many
weeks
in
a
row
we
would
go
after
work
meet
and
we
would
we
would
eat
pizza
or
something
off
the
back
of
my
car
and
then
we
would
go
in
and
we
would
work
until
dark
every
night
until
the
project
Scott
got
finished,
but
that
alone
is
the
camaraderie
that
we
build
with
the
volunteers.
You
know
that
they
want
to
come
back
again
and
you
know
keep
coming
back
and
what
want
to
help
people,
and
not
only
that
we
we
learn
the
people's
names
in
the
neighborhood.
C
A
B
B
Do
that
so
a
lot
of
the
hours
may
be
on
the
clock
which
dell
would
allow
for
them
to
use,
and
some
of
them
to
john's
point
could
be
off
the
clock,
but
no
matter
how
they
did
it,
where
they
did
it,
they're
allowed
to
enter
the
time
that
they
spent
developing
communities
or
giving
their
efforts
back
to
the
communities
into
a
system
within
Dell
and
once
they've
finished
10
hours
of
volunteering
they
get
were
virtually
through
email.
What
we
call
a
cause
card
worth,
150
dollars,
and
this
hundred
fifty
dollars.
B
Giving
it's
a
cycle,
and-
and
you
know
that-
encourages
them
to
do
more
because
they
know
they
can
not
only
do
it
make
a
difference
in
as
a
group
but
individually
as
well.
They
can
go,
give
that
to
their
church
or
their
schools
or
their.
You
know,
neighborhoods
or
whatever
is
out
there.
That
has
needs,
and
it's
a
very
connected
world,
and
you
know
once
you
start
doing
this
stimulus
of
doing
good.
It
just
picks
up,
and
it's
a
fascinating
thing.
Just.
A
C
We're
involved
in
a
lot
of
things
around
the
city.
One
in
particular,
is
the
boys,
girls
club
here
on
thirty-sixth
street.
We
have
another
process
or
our
business
initiative.
We
call
youth
connect
and
youth
connect
is
awarded
over
three
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
the
boys
and
girls
club
and
with
that,
the
planet,
team
and
and
other
del
volunteers
have
gone
out
and
actually
set
up
an
entire
IT
lab
an
IT
classroom,
server,
support
and
an
infrastructure
to
actually
try
to
grow
the
Boys
and
Girls
Club
and
other
locations
in
the
city.
C
So
it's
so
it
become
a
partnership
once
once
once
the
grant
went
through,
and
then
we
start
it's
an
actual
partnership.
So
if
you
were
to
go
to
the
Boys
and
Girls
Club
look
for
the
dell
lab,
you
will
actually
see
the
dell
blue
colors
to
dell
logo,
and
definitely
we
have
a
presence
there.
Definitely
and
our
main
objective.
There
is
to
raise
the
reading
level
of
the
oklahoma
of
oklahoma
county
and
we're
already
seeing
great
results
there
and.
C
E
It
really
kept
the
difference.
They've
made
can't
be
measured,
I,
don't
think.
They've
made
a
tremendous
impact
on
the
whole
community.
You
sure
they
worked
on
30
projects
or
so
by
the
way.
When
we
say
project
we
do
mean
project,
they
got
in
there
and
under
harsh
conditions
in
hot
weather,
dirty
weather,
a
dirty
conditions,
but
they've
made
just
such
an
impact
on
the
whole
community,
and
they
continue
to
do
so,
and
it's
really
amazing
because
I'm
afraid
I
want
to
wear
out
my
welcome
but
yeah
they
extend
their
arms
Tommy.
A
E
Sir,
the
the
one
thing
I
was
impressed
with
us.
You
know
they're
doing
the
boys
and
girls
club
and
they
also
the
reason
they
got
started.
John
didn't
share
this
with
you,
but
they
saw
that
there
was
a
need
at
the
infant
crisis
center
and
they
thought
that
they
could
meet
that
need
because
they
needed
bags
to
put
diapers
and
formula
in,
and
that
was
the
reason
they
started.
I
believe
planet
green
one
of
them
or
one
of
the
reasons
and
is
because
they
saw
a
need
and
they
wanted
to
meet
that
need
boy.
A
That's
great
and
what
a
way
to
wind
up
our
show
here,
seeing
a
need
and
coming
together
to
meet
that
need.
Thank
you
tell
corporation
for
what
you
do.
Thank
you
for
coming
to
Oklahoma
City
Tommy.
Thank
you
for
your
labor
of
love
and
the
river
park.
Association,
viewers,
I,
hope,
you've
caught
the
vision.
It
only
takes
a
spark
to
get
a
fire
going,
and
these
three
gentlemen
represent
organizations
that
are
lighting
a
spark
to
meet
the
needs
of
folks
in
Oklahoma
City
who
have
real
challenges
guys.
Thank
you.
Keep
up
the
good
work.
