From YouTube: MAPS 3 Streetcar Storage and Maintenance Facility
Description
MAPS Program Manager David Todd leads a quick tour of the new MAPS 3 Streetcar Storage and Maintenance Facility.
A
We're
at
the
new
maps
3
street
car
maintenance
facility.
We
are
right
at
the
corner
of
Union
Station
and
scissortail
Park,
and
between
Hudson
and
Walker.
This
facility
is
the
heart
of
the
streetcar
operations
that
will
be
coming
at
towards
the
end
of
next
year.
It
houses
the
offices
and
the
operations
people,
but
also
the
drivers
and
all
the
maintenance
people
that
will
take
care
of
the
cars.
It
also
provides
a
place
for
them
to
do
the
maintenance
and
to
store
the
cars
at
night.
A
The
cars
will
come
off
of
the
main
route
and
they'll
come
down
Hudson
from
3rd
Street,
which
will
eventually
be
the
boulevard
and
they'll
come
down.
Hudson
and
they'll
come
into
the
yard,
and
then
it
splits
into
different
tracks,
and
they
can
go
into
any
one
of
these
bays
on
the
tracks
without
doing
anything
other
than
just
pulling
forward.
The
first
Bay
has
the
ability
to
work
up
underneath
the
car,
because
the
car
has
things
like
the
motors
and
the
brakes
up
underneath.
A
Then
it
has
a
platform
at
the
second
level
that
allows
them
to
work
at
the
top
and
there's
a
lot
of
the
mechanics
and
things
with
the
streetcar
that
are
up
and
on
top,
then
we
have
debate
that
we're
standing
in
right
now,
which
is
just
a
general
maintenance
path.
They
need
to
work
on
the
interior
of
the
car,
just
general
things
and
then
there's
a
bay
outside
which
allows
them
to
wash
the
vehicles.
A
Each
of
these
bays
has
overhead
cranes,
and
that's
so
that
they
can
remove
various
pieces
of
the
the
streetcar
there's
also
a
turntable
at
the
end
of
this
Bay,
so
that
when
the
truck
wheel
and
we
call
them
trucks,
it's
the
assembly
that
holds
the
wheels
those
come
off
of
the
car.
So
they
can
be
worked
on
independently.
So
that
can
be
moved
down
and
rotated
and
moved
to
different
parts
of
the
shop.
