a

lesson
in
city
government
101,
the
city
of
oklahoma
city,
operates
by
using
a
council-manager
form
of
government.
This
form
of
government
helps
separate
politics
from
the
day-to-day
mission
of
the
city.
The
mayor
and
the
eight
council
members
are
elected
by
you.
The
City
Council
appoints
the
city
manager
who
oversees
the
daily
operations
of
the
city.
Here's
who
serves
as
our
mayor
council
and
city
manager,
mayor
Mick
Cornett,
was
first
elected
mayor
in
2004.

The
mayor
is
selected
in
a
citywide
election
held
every
four
years
and
he
represents
the
city
at
large.
Councilman
James
Greiner
represents
ward
1,
ward
1
encompasses
the
north
west.
Central
part
of
the
city,
Ward
2
is
represented
by
councilman
ed
Shadid,
Ward
2
runs
from
Northwest
twenty-third,
Street
to
Northwest
122nd
street
between
santa
fe
in
portland
avenues.
Ward
3
is
located
mostly
in
the
Southwest
section
of
the
city
and
is
represented
by
councilman
larry
mcatee.

east
to
get
toward,

which
stretches
out
from
santa
fe
avenue
to
potawatomi
road
between
southeast
29th
and
179th
streets.
Ward
4

represented

far
northwest
in
north
central
sections
of
the

The
city
manager
is
James,

couch,

was
appointed
to
the
position
by
the

Council
in
November

conduct
City
business
most
tuesdays
october
through
june,
and
every
other
tuesday
july,
through
September
council
meetings
start
at
830am
and
can
be
seen
right
here
on
city
channel
20.

may
have
in
person.
The
meetings
are
held
in
city
council
chambers,
located
on
the
third
floor
of
City
Hall,
which
is
located
at
200
north
walker
avenue
in
downtown
Oklahoma
City.
