A
Hello
there
and
welcome
once
again
to
the
mayor's
magazine,
I'm
Mick
Cornett,
the
mayor
of
Oklahoma
City,
and
this
is
our
show
for
November
2014
glad
you're
with
us
in
our
first
segment,
we're
going
to
meet
a
familiar
face
to
those
of
you
who
follow
the
world
of
sports.
It
is
Todd
Nelson
he's
the
head
coach
of
the
oklahoma
city
barons.
Welcome
to
the
show
thanks.
A
B
A
B
Physically
big
one
of
the
biggest
teams
we've
had
here
and
we
have
a
good
mix
of
veterans
and
rookies,
and
you
know
I
really
like
the
makeup
of
our
team,
we
have
a
lot
of
returning
players,
so
if
it
shouldn't
take
that
long
for
our
guys
to
gel
we're
off
to
a
bit
of
a
slow
start,
but
that's
normal
for
us,
we
always
finish
strong,
so
I
like
what
we
see
just
a
matter
of
putting
it
all
together.
What.
A
B
B
For
instance,
we
have
a
center
man,
that's
20
year
old,
that
he's
20
and
he's
six
five
to
thirty.
B
A
B
I
think
is
the
perfect
size
for
a
defenseman,
of
course
yeah,
but
yeah
we
have
a
pretty
big
club
and
the
Emmett
is
trying
to
get
bigger.
So
they
can
play
a
heavier
game
because
the
conference
that
they
plan
is
really
heavy,
meaning
they
play
a
heavy
game
beating.
You
know
physically
lot
stronger,
so
they
have
to
try
to
get
bigger
in
the
short
time
span.
It's
our
job
here
to
help
graduate
these
players
moving
forward.
How.
B
A
The
league
has
a
outstanding
league
for
for
generating
talent,
I,
think
people
in
Oklahoma
City
appreciate
the
professionalism
and
the
ability
of
the
players.
The
officiating
seems
to
be,
you
know
a
checkoff
above
you
know
what
has
been
in
Oklahoma
City's
history.
Would
how
do
you,
how
do
you
foresee
the
AHL
and
their
level
of
professionalism,
adding
to
the
experience
well.
B
We're
went
one
step
away
from
the
best
league
in
the
world
and
we
have
a
lot
of
players
that
have
played
time
up
in
the
National
Hockey
League.
So
it's
a
very
good
League.
It's
highly
competitive
you
mentioned
about
the
officials.
I
always
think
they
can
do
a
better
job,
but
you
know
it's
it's
a
it's
a
league
that
it's
a
place
for
people
to
come
and
get
better
what
they
do,
and
that
includes
myself.
B
A
B
It's
a
two-way
street.
We
have
excellent
communication
with
Edmonton
Craig
MacTavish,
the
general
manager
and
I
talk
at
least
once
a
week,
but
there's
also
other
people
that
it
will
be
coming
to
all
of
our
games.
We
had
about
three
or
four
guys
from
Edmonton
management
this
past
weekend
and
everybody's
Washington.
Certain
players
there's
always
discussion
about
certain
players
that
could
go
up
and
help
the
big
club.
So
most
important
thing
is
communication
and
that's
what
we
have
what's.
B
I
think
you
know,
like
our
goaltending
is
pretty
solid.
We
have
good
depth
there
and
you
know
we
have
young
defense,
so
that's
something
we
all
have
to
be
wealth,
be
careful
with
that
are,
but
our
Ford
group
that
we
have
is
really
strong
for
this
level.
It
doesn't
matter,
we
have
14,
guys,
doesn't
matter
which
12
I
play
I
feel
very
comfortable,
so
I
think
the
most
important
thing
is
that
we
have
a
lot
of
guys
returning
from
last
year.
So
we
have
that
nucleus
of
core
players
to
really
bring
the
team
together.
B
A
The
the
fan,
interaction
there's
a
lot
of
ways
to
be
involved
with
the
Bairns
without
just
attending
a
game
on,
are
you
guys
are
out
in
the
community
and
they're
holding
watch
parties?
Sometimes
when
there's
away
games,
can
you
talk
about
some
of
the
ways
that
fans
can
experience
and
be
a
part
of
the
organization?
Well,.
B
B
We
have
a
program
called
barons,
buddies
where
every
player
gets
a
special
needs,
child
and
or
person
doesn't
matter
what
the
age
group
is,
and
it's
there
buddy
for
the
year
and
it's
a
really
neat
program
because
our
guys
really
get
attached
to
it
and
we
have
about
three
or
four
different
functions
over
the
course
of
the
year
and
it's
a
good
program
for
the
for
the
people
that
are
involved
and
also
our
players.
So
it's
it's
always
important
to
give
back
to
the
community
and
our
guys
do
that.
How's.
B
A
B
B
You
know
you
know,
prodigal
runs
the
team
for
Edmonton
and
they
do
a
great
job
and
Bob
funk.
Jr.
I've
got
to
know
really
really
well
over.
The
last
four
years
has
its
been
excellent
to
work
with
our
guys
really
a
like
a
plain
form
and
duh
with
no
for
him
and
his
staff.
They
do
an
excellent
job
with
our
team
and
and
they
try
to
get
us
out
in
the
community
as
much
as
possible
in.
B
Think
so
Edmonton
has
been
going
through
a
tough
stretch
over
the
last
seven
years.
Silly
they
draft
pretty
high
in
the
entry
draft.
So
there's
always
a
quality
player
coming
through
every
draft
and
they
have
a
lot
of
depth
with
that.
So
this
team,
here
in
Oklahoma
City,
is,
is
going
to
be
built.
You
know
really
well
like
for
the
future
as
well,
so
we're
so
we're
happy
as
a
coaching
staff.
You're
always
judged
on
wins
and
losses,
and
right
now
we're
off
to
a
tough
start,
but
once
again
we'll
get
things
going
all.
A
Great
entertainment
and
it's
at
the
cox
convention
center,
which
used
to
be
known
as
the
myriad
for
those
old
standbys
but
come
on
downtown
plenty
of
parking
right
underneath
the
arena
never
even
have
to
get
out
of
your
car.
So
if
it's
inclement
weather
it's
the
ideal
situation
for
the
fan,
experience
and
bring
your
kids
and
your
grandkids
out
to
enjoy
some
great
hockey
in
Oklahoma
City
Todd,
thanks,
we'll
be
back
with
more
on
the
mayor's
magazine
after
this
I.
D
A
Welcome
back
to
the
mayor's
magazine
in
this
segment
we're
going
to
revisit
downtown
in
December,
because
it's
just
about
December
its
Jill
Brown,
DeLozier
and
Stacey
sanger's
passion-
and
they
are
both
here
on
the
mayor's
magazine-
welcome
back
Thank,
You
Jill
on
my
left.
Us
in
the
middle
is
the
marketing
and
community
relations
person
and
then
stacy
is
marketing
coordinator
and
they
are
busy
because
it
is
their
busiest
time
of
year
for
downtown
in
december
and
and
boy
this
thing
it
gets
bigger
and
better
every
year.
A
E
A
A
Where
it
mean
you
can
literally
spend
a
weekend
down
here,
just
doing
all
of
the
different
things
and
so
I
don't
know
any
better
way
to
start
describing
this
just
start
going
down
the
list
and
we'll
just
let
you
guys
kind
of
go
back
and
forth
the
ice.
Rink
is
back
and
Devin
is
your
sponsor,
and
so
it,
but
it's
not
it's
not
in
the
original
location,
but
it's
in
the
myriad
Botanical
Gardens
right.
E
A
I
think
it's
a
great
idea
because
in
most
places
where
you
go,
where
there's
a
Santa,
they
try
to
recoup
their
costs
by
charging
you
or
selling
the
pictures,
and
in
this
situation
correct
me
if
I'm
wrong,
but
basically
your
visit
with
Santa
is
free
and
you
take
your
own
pictures,
so
you
own
them,
you
can
do
whatever
you
want
with
them.
Yeah
it's
just
it's
a
great
opportunity,
great.
A
E
This
has
been
a
popular
event
for
several
years
in
downtown
Oklahoma
City,
so
it
takes
place
inside
the
Chesapeake
earth.
Sorry,
it's
at
the
chickasaw
bricktown
ballpark
and
it's
sponsored
by
chesapeake
and
it's
a
man-made
slope
and
there
are
four
lanes
which
is
bigger
than
it
ever
has
been,
so
people
can
ride
down
on
an
inner
tube
on
this
slope
with
snow
on
it
and
it
gets
really
fast.
It's
pretty
fun,
but
there
are
also
kids
slopes
too.
So
little
ones
can
also
enjoy
it.
Yeah.
A
So
it's
at
the
ballpark
and
so
there's
there's
you
know
parking
all
around
in
bricktown.
Obviously
they
can
handle
crowds,
I
think
there's
some
hot
chocolate
and
some
other
things
to
keep
you
warm,
but
you're,
literally
sliding
from
the
upper
deck
down
and
the
course
there
stairs
to
get
you
to
the
upper
deck
and-
and
you
take
your
your
your
sleigh.
I
guess
is
what
we
call
it.
But
I
also
noticed.
Last
year
when
I
went
there's
that
there's
a
very
small
slope
for
kids.
E
A
You're
wanting
to
wear
your
kid
out,
I
can't
think
of
a
better
way
in
Christmas,
because
that
you
know
they
have
to
climb
the
stairs
they're,
probably
dressed
too
heavy,
and
they
start
sweating,
because
you
know
it's
it's
typically,
our
temperatures,
you
know,
aren't
that
bad,
but
I
mean
the
kids
are
exhausted
when
they
finna.
What
is
it
an
hour
and
a
half?
Is
that
a
longer
session?
Well.
E
A
A
E
A
I
understand
the
business
model,
its
work
working
great
for
its
okay
Sandridge
tree
lighting
festival.
What's
that?
Yes,.
D
And
this
year
we
are
honored
to
have
you
come
like
the
tree
again
for
us
and
it's
the
day
after
Thanksgiving
and
it's
from
five
to
seven
right
before
the
thunder
game
swing
by
and
then
head
to
the
thunder
game
and
we'll
have
hot
chocolate:
snacks,
popcorn
we'll
have
live
music.
It's
one
of
our
favorite
events
for
downtown
in
December.
What.
A
I
like
about
it,
is
when
I'm
with
Santa
no
one's
looking
at
me
every
little
kid
is
just
a
travel
to
that
man
and
it's
a
very
humbling
experience
if
you
ever
want
to
feel
insignificant,
just
hang
out
with
Santa
amongst
a
bunch
of
kids
and
they
just
they
run
all
over.
But
it's
it's
a
great
idea.
It's
a
great
night
just
to
come
downtown
whether
you
plan
to
go
to
the
thunder
game
or
not
just
to
be
in
down
and
start
to
get
in
the
holiday
spirit
and
the
thing
of
things.
A
E
This
one
is
also
super
popular.
We
have
like
15
or
20
thousand
people
that
take
advantage
of
it
every
year.
So
every
Thursday
night,
through
Sunday
night
from
November
28th
to
December
28th,
the
water
taxi
rides,
are
for
free,
and
so
you
can
go
down
it's
the
loading
dock
will
be
by
zios
this
year
and
you
can
take
a
little
cruise
down
the
canal
and
look
at
all
the
Christmas
lights
and
they
give
a
actual
tour
and
talk
about
Oklahoma,
City
and
the
history
of
brick,
town
as
well
so,
educational
and
entertaining
and.
A
So
if
you
have
family
and
friends
from
out
of
town
and
there's
a
bunch
of
people
and
you're,
saying
I
can't
afford
to
buy
everybody
a
ticket
to
right
on
the
water
taxi,
it's
free,
it's
paid
for
by
corporate
sponsorships
and
it's
a
great
opportunity
for
people
to
kind
of
see
and
learn
a
little
bit
about
the
history
of
bricktown.
It
still
seems
so
new
to
some
of
us,
but
it's
you
know.
It's
been
20
years
since
the
map
selection
down
a
lot
of
that
history.
A
E
Is
always
a
fun
one
and
there
are
lots
of
adventurous
type
activities
on
at
the
Boathouse
district.
They
have
Santa's
adventures
and
we're
partnering
with
the
Barons
to
do
winterfest
at
the
ice
rink.
There
are
three
different
shopping
events
in
down
to
this
year,
so
there
are
24,
total,
downtown
and
December
events,
and
so
you
really
could
be
busy
every
single
day
and.
E
They
turn
some
of
their
summertime
activities
into
holiday
themed.
So
the
rock
wall
that
kids
can
climb
is
a
candy
cane
rock
wall
and
they
have
a
Santa
surfing.
So
kids
can
kind
of
practice
some
balance
and
you
don't
actually
have
to
get
into
the
river.
They
have
a
little
zip
line
over
there
and
then,
of
course,
the
sky
trail
and
the
big
zip
line
now
so
you
can
enjoy
all
that
with
an
all-day
pass
and.
A
I
noticed
that
the
Nutcracker,
of
course,
is
coming
back
that
will
be
in
the
Civic
Center
I
assume
in
it
was
announced.
It
was
news
to
me
that
devon
has
donated
five
hundred
thousand
dollars
to
Oklahoma
City
Ballet,
so
they
can
buy
all
new
equipment
and
costumes
for
the
Nutcracker,
and
obviously
this
will
last
years,
but
so
the
sets
the
costumes
they'll
all
be
brand.
New
and
I
urge
everyone
to
to
take
the
kids
and
go
see
The
Nutcracker
expose
them
to
the
ballet
and,
at
the
same
time,
help
them
get
in
the
Christmas
spirit.
A
E
E
C
Median
spin
mode
believes
are
raped
and
the
flowers
are
planted.
The
beautification
efforts
of
neighborhood
volunteers
really
make
a
difference.
Unfortunately,
there's
still
something
out
there.
Cluttering
neighborhood
street
corners,
it's
illegally
placed
signs,
but
now
residents
fed
up
with
signs
and
placards
littering
poles.
The
ground
and
everywhere
in
between
in
their
neighborhood,
can
sign
up
to
become
a
sign.
Sweet
volunteer,
sign,
sweet
volunteers
must
be
at
least
18
years
old
and
Oklahoma
City
resident
and
a
member
of
a
participating,
Neighborhood
Association.
A
F
A
Not
been
exposed
to
your
music,
but
it
comes
highly
taught
touted
and
Micah
I
would
say,
is
one
of
a
growing
generation
of
young
people
with
artistic
talent
who
are
moving
to
Oklahoma
City,
to
try
and
expand
their
careers,
and
so
I
guess
the
question
for
you,
because
you
apparently
grew
up
in
Texas,
yes
and
and
why
Oklahoma
City,
not
that
we're
not
honored
that
you're
here.
But
what?
How
did
you
choose
this
and.
F
Well,
he
grew
up
in
Temple
Texas,
it's
about
an
hour
north
of
Austin
am
so
Austin
was
always
kind
of
the
scene
that
I
was
exposed
to
it's
a
wonderful
city,
amazing
city
for
music
I,
found
that
Oklahoma
City
was
an
incredibly
receptive
place
for
a
new
artist,
not
as
ever
saturated
a
lot
of
room
to
grow
a
lot
of
opportunities
and
just
a
really
awesome
community
of
artists
that
want
to
help
each
other
and
it's
not
as
polarized
I'd
say.
So.
It
was
really
welcoming.
Okay,.
A
F
A
Of
the
way
media
has
expanded,
it
is,
there
are
more
artists
who
have
chances
for
exposure,
because
you
can
almost
download
any
one
song
anytime
you
want,
and
and
I
would
expect,
that
a
lot
of
the
people
in
the
audience
are
already
familiar
with
your
music
before
they
ever
come.
See
you
play
ideally.
F
It's
definitely
there's
been
a
little
bit
of
a
progression
because
I
moved
here
in
january.
I
didn't
even
play
a
show
here,
till
april,
at
norman
music
festival,
so
between
late
april
and
where
we
are
now
it's
been
fun.
It's
been
interesting
to
me,
nice.
F
F
F
F
Some
blues
influence
in
there
there's
definitely
some
blues
influence.
It's
hard,
Tennessee
is
burning.
The
record
skips
out
now
has
a
lot
of
range
to.
It
is
kind
of
you
know
the
first
step
into
recording
a
full
body
of
work
for
me,
so
it's
there's
a
lot
of
different
kinds
of
influences
that
are
showcased
in
that
so
moving
into
the
second
record,
I'm,
definitely
kind
of
marrying
down
the
path
figuring
out
exactly
what
my
sound
is
exactly
what
I'm
wanting
to
do.
F
So
there
is
a
lot
of
blues
in
it.
There's
it's
just
kind
of
a
hodgepodge
really
I
definitely
want
to
move
forward
with
more
bluesy
elements
in
the
future.
What.
A
F
I
am
I
was
very
fortunate
to
have
a
father
who
is
very
interested
and
inspired
by
music
growing
up
and
exposed
me
to
a
lot
of
that
from
a
very
young
age.
So
I
was,
you
know,
exposed
to
like
Moody,
Blues
and
Fleetwood
Mac
and
everything
starting
really
young,
so
those
I've
carried
with
me,
Paul
Simon,
gotten
the
chance
to
see
a
lot
of
them
live,
which
is
life-changing
so
definitely
Fleetwood.
Mac
is
a
big
one,
really
love
Stevie
Nicks,
so.
F
Yeah
this
one
has
been
interesting
because
it's
definitely
coming
in
the
form,
because
before
Tennessee
is
burning,
I,
never
written
a
record.
It's
always
just
been
sporadic
songs
to
play,
live
so
I
think
having
that
experience,
kind
of
informed
the
process
moving
forward,
it's
been
interesting.
It's
lately
writing
for
that
and.
A
Right,
Shabazz
sceles
will
be
playing
with
Mike
a
young
when
we
return
and
that's
going
to
end
our
show.
So
let
me
say
thank
you
right
now
for
coming
on
the
show,
thank
you
for
coming
to
Oklahoma
City
and
it's
inspiring
to
see
so
many
young
and
talented
people
coming
here
to
to
enrich
the
culture
old
image
of
Oklahoma
City.
We
appreciate
you.
