Description
Learn more about Oklahoma City's snow routes and the work that goes into keeping them clear for citizens.
A
When
winter
weather
strikes,
road
crews
from
Oklahoma,
City's,
Public,
Works
Department
will
join
crews
from
the
state
for
counties
and
many
other
cities
in
the
metro
area
to
provide
snow
route
coverage
on
a
regional
basis.
The
regional
snow
route
plan
covers,
from
norman
north
to
edmond
and
from
hera
west
to
mustang.
This
means
that
interstates
and
most
of
the
heavily
traveled
streets,
even
those
that
run
through
more
than
one
city,
will
have
crews
doing
their
best
to
provide
you
with
the
most
optimal
driving
conditions
possible
during
winter
weather.
A
While
the
road
crews
are
doing
their
part,
there's
a
few
things
you
can
do
to
make
driving
and
hazardous
road
conditions
safer
before
you
get
in
your
car,
make
sure
all
of
your
vehicles
windows
are
clear
of
snow
and
ice.
A
small
peephole
clearing
won't
provide
you
with
the
disability.
You'll
need
once
on
the
road
slow
down
and
keep
it
at
least
three
car
lengths
between
you
and
the
vehicle
in
front
of
you
you'll
need
to
increase
that
distance.
A
If
you
increase
your
speed
next
drive
cautiously
through
intersections
and
over
bridges
and
overpasses,
and
remember
to
stay
at
least
100
feet
back
behind
salt
spreaders.
If
you'd
like
a
map
of
the
regional
snow
routes,
you
can
download
it
from
the
city's
website,
OKC
gov
or
call
the
city's
Action
Center
to
have
a
map
mailed
to
you.
