A
Welcome
to
the

of
the
Oklahoma

Oklahoma
City,
the
18

about
the
challenges
of
local
government
firsthand
and
the
program
provides
them
with
an
effective,
meaningful
channel
to
influence
decisions
affecting
their
homes,
school
friends
and
community,
while
serving
the
members
learn
about
local
government,
its
components,
processes,
goals
and
successes.
B
Since
this

first
time

today,
we're
just
going

the
war
reports,
I'm,
hoping
that
you
guys
are
decided
who's
going
to
do
the
board
reports
today
and
what
we're
going
to
do
is
we're
going
to
go
when
it's
your
week
and
we're
focusing
on
your
board.
You'll
be
the
last
ones

we'll
do

Our
second
topic
is
a
wildfire
education
and
the
Fire
Department
responds
to
more
than
800
wildland

annually.
The
three
main
causes
of
these
fires
are
discarded
cigarettes,
children
playing
with
fire
and
illegal
trash
burning.
The
sad
part
is
that
all
all
these
are
prevented
situations.

J
Large
Oklahoma
City
got
a
lot
of
great
national
press.
This
weekend,
mayor
Cornett
spoke
at
the
national
republican
convention.
Tuesday,
an
emphasize
tower
city
has
chosen
to
invest
in
itself
while
maintaining
low
unemployment
in
a
debt-free
infrastructure.
In
addition,
he
said
that
Oklahoma
City
was
recently
named
the
most
entrepreneurial
city
in
the
country,
with
the
most
startups
per
capita
way
to
go
okc.
On
another
note,
the
oklahoma
storytelling
festival
will
be
held
September
six
through
eight.
J
This
musty
fall
festival
celebrates
the
ancient
art
of
storytelling
for
31
years,
the
Arts
Council
of
Oklahoma
City
produced
the
winter
tale
storytelling
festival,
which
has
delighted
audiences
with
nationally
acclaimed
storytellers
workshops
and
special
performances.
The
Oklahoma
City
storytelling
festival
continues
the
tradition
with
two
entertaining
evening
performances
a
weight
night
session
of
ghost
stories
in
professional
workshops.
There
are
also
kid-friendly
events
such
as
the
family
matinee
in
the
community
outreach
program
for
a
full
schedule
of
events,
visit

WR
council
okc,
calm,

content,
/
performance
desk
schedule.
J
Finally,
everyone
is
invited
to
a
community
meeting
to
provide
information
and
solicit
design
and
programming
ideas
for
the
70-acre
maps
3
downtown
park.
The
meeting
will
be
held
from
six
to
830
p.m.
on
sep
tember
13th
in
the
fourth
floor,
auditorium
of
the
downtown
library
library
at
300,
Park
Avenue
construction
on
the
park
is
scheduled
to
begin
next
year.
Now
here's
Derek
Noel's
with
the
rest
of
the
report.
K
Thanks
Lauren,
my
name
is
Derek
Noel's.
I
am
from
edmond
santa
fe
high
school
and
I'll
be
continuing
that
at-large
report
for
the
city.
First
of
all,
the
sales
tax
revenue
in
Oklahoma
City
was
up
four
point:
seven
percent
compared
to
last
year
collections
for
the
sales
tax,
which
makes
up
the
single
largest
stream
of
revenue
for
the
city.
This
totaled
17.4
million
this
month,
mayor
Mick
Cornett,
said
this
is
especially
good
and
is
due
to
high
consumer
confidence
and
our
strong
economy.
K
August
is
the
eighth
month
in
a
row
of
tax
growth.
On
a
different
note,
city
officials
have
asked
residents
to
practice
voluntary
water
conservation
efforts
because
of
high
temperatures
and
high
usage
of
water
in
the
city.
Some
ways
in
which
residents
can
help
conserve
water
are
watering
yards
no
more
than
three
times
a
week,
avoiding
watering
when
it's
win,
concentrating
watering
efforts
on
plants
that
will
die
if
not
watered
and
mowing
grass
at
a
higher
level.
This
concludes
the
at-large
report
and
look
forward
to
more
news
next
month.
Thank.
