youth
council.
The
youth
council
is
a
partnership
between
the
city
and
leadership,
oklahoma
city,
the
18,
youth
council,
members,
learn
about
the
challenges
of
local
government
firsthand
and
the
program
provides
them
with
an
effective,
meaningful
channel
to
influence
decisions
affecting
their
homes,
school
friends
and
community.

serving
the
members
learn
about
local
government,
its
components,
processes,
goals
and
successes.

my
name
is
Kirsten
Alfonso
I'm,
a
senior
at
Putnam,
City,
High,
School
and
I
represent
award
one
in
Ward
1
this
month.
Progress
is
still
being
made
on
the
surety
project
on
wilshire
in
Britain.
Also,
there
are
10
neighborhood
night
out
events
this
month
they
were
well
attended
and
they're
very
successful,
and
there
was
an
event
held
at
Castle
falls
on
September
11th
by
the
friends
at
Northwest,
tenth
Street.
They
unveiled
their
new
name,
West
10,
which
is
what
they're
going
to
be
called
from
now
on.

There's
a
new
ordinance
being
introduced
that
is
attempting
to
address
abandoned
buildings
through
increased
code
enforcement
and
the
recovery
of
city
costs
related
to
these
properties
is
a
step
in
the
right
direction,
to
discourage
the
abandonment
of
properties
and
to
prevent
the
decline
of
quality
in
our
neighborhoods.

at
frontier
city,
and
it
told
me
on
the
weekends
there's
the
Cinderella
play
from
October
17th
to
October
19th
at
Civic
Center
Music
Hall
at
the

p.m.
and
8pm.
There
is
the
grand
national
and
world
championship
Morgan
Horse
Show
from
october
eleventh
through
October
18
that
state
fair
park.
There
is
an
affair
of
the
heart
from
October
24th
to
October
26
at
state
fair
park.

the
Barons.
The
hockey
team
is
coming
back.
Their
first
game
is
also
all
October
17th
at
seven
p.m.
at
cox
convention
center.
The
motley
crew
is
coming
in
october,
10th
at
seven
p.m.
at
chesapeake
energy
arena.
Another
play
is
happening
that
lyric
theater
called
the
inspector
calls
from
october
eight
through
october
25th.

two
upcoming

opening
their
doors
to
the
general
public,
as
well
as
as

great

public

local
economic

Two
in
other
news,
the
Paseo
art
district
is
hosting
its
monthly
first
friday.
Gallery
walk
this
weekend
from
six
to
ten
p.m.
friday
evening
and
12
to
6
p.m.
saturday
afternoon.
They
walk
consists
of
the
works
over
of
over
60
artists
from
about
17
different
galleries.

are
reviewed
by
the
Commission,
in
keeping
with
the
preservation
guidelines
and
standards
for
Oklahoma
City
for
Oklahoma,
City
historic
districts.
The
Commission
requires
that
each
application
be
presented
by
the
published
deadline
to
the
historic
prevention
officer,
with
complete
and
detailed
information
on
each
element
of
the
proposal
requiring
a
certificate
of
appropriateness.
The
next
meeting
of
the
Historic
Preservation
Commission
is
scheduled
for
2pm
today
in
the
city
council
chambers.

garage
should
be
completed
in

to

held
a
meeting

consider

rezoning
applications

to
rezone

murrayfield
place
from
the
planned
unit,
development
district

to
the
simplified,
planned
unit
development
district
775
to
develop
an
office
complex.
The
application
for
this
rezoning
was
approved.

Ward

is
up
and
alive
when
it
comes
to
celebrating
culture.
Last
week
faces
a

américas
hosted
its
ninth
annual
celebration,
which
was
located
on
guys
on
single
the
community,
came
together
to
celebrate
the
rich
culture,
the
Hispanic
people
bring
to
this
country
and
what
they
bring
to
our
amazing
city.

this
festival,
there
was
a
parade
that
started
at
Capital
high
school
and
went
down
Walker
all
the
way
down
to
twenty
fifth
Street,
with
the
which
then
turned
into
the
where
the
festival
was
held,
where
there
were
multiple
booth
of
local
businesses,
restaurants
and
organizations
in
the
south
side
of
Oklahoma
City,
the
coming
together,
the
community
helped
build
a
strong
connection
for
its
people.
Last
but

least,
some
of
our
local
Thunder
basketball
players
were
out
in
the
action
in
action.

Thunder

out
at
the
skyline
park
located
on
the
southeastern
part
of
Oklahoma
City
playing

basketball
court
that
was
built.

court
was
painted
to
represent
the
Thunder
and
also
had
a
fence,
build
around
it
now
local
kids
and
come
out
and
play
basketball.

attend
mount
saint
mary
catholic
high
school
progress
continues
on
maps

at
the
Oklahoma
River
new
racecourse
lighting
has
been
constructed,
along
with
the
new
starting
and
Lane
marketing
system
downstream
from
the
boat
houses.
The
new
white
water
facility
is
scheduled
to
break
ground
this
month,
the
facility
which
will
be
open
to
patrons
of
all
skill
levels
the
scheduled
to
be
completed
in
time
to
host
the
2016
US
Olympic,
canoe
and
kayak
trials
at
state
fair
park.

City
officials
will
break
ground
on
the
new
expo
center
on
october,
fourteenth
upon
completion,
the
270
9,000
square-foot
Expo
Center
will
be
the
largest
stuff
in
space
in
Oklahoma
City.
The
center
is
expected
to
be
ready
for
use
by
the
2016
State
Fair
and
it
will
be
available
to
host
of
NC
year-round.
Other
improvements
have
already
been
completed
at
state
fair
park,
including
parking
lot
renovations
and
upgrades
to
Jim
Nora
kareena
City
Council
also
recently
approved
designs
of
the
first
of
four
to
five
senior
health
and
wellness
centers.

first
sensor,
which
will
be
privately
operated,
is
designed
to
have
pools
and
exercise
areas
as
well
as
social
meeting
spaces.
Completion
on
the
first

scheduled
for
2016

and

programs

advancing
with

first
two
projects
of
phase
one
of

Westmore
high
school
I
am

at
large.
The
master
kids
projects
continue
to
see
progress
with
six
schools
currently
in
construction.
Roosevelt
is
substantially
complete
and
will
be
recommended
for
final
acceptance.
In
october
webster
and
taft
middle
schools,
along
with
columbus
and
jackson,
elementary
schools
are
nearing
completion.
The
bids
have
been
opened
for
the
final
plans
of
emerson,
alternative
school
renovations
and
health
clinics.
The
bond
projects
are
also
seeing
progress
with
having
completed
and
accepted.

Eight
Jim's
construction
is
ongoing
for
both
Spiegel
and
Taff
Stadium.

classroom.
School
of
Advanced
Studies
I
proudly
represent
word
five,
and
this
is
my
commission
report
good
news
out
of
the
golf
courses
this
month,
revenue
has
increased
at
money
courses
this
year
at
Lake,
Hefner
golf
course.
The
course
was
up
eleven
thousand
dollars
in
gross
revenue
over
last
year.
The
jmz
stewart
golf
courses,
revenue
is
up
7.3
percent
and
the
early
one
part
golf
courses.
Total
revenue
was
up
five
percent,
the
Parks
Commission
encourages
the
citizens
of
Oklahoma
City
to
stay
active
and
healthy.

Increased
attendance
at
these
golf
courses
is
a
good
sign.
Also
many
tournaments,
such
as
the
OSSAA
6a
boys
regional
tournament,
at
early
y
in
part
golf
course
was
approved
further.
Encouraging
youth
participation,
also
a
group
about
60
citizens
of
raised
funds
to
pay
for
a
statue
and
plaque
commemorating
JW
Mashburn,
an
Olympic
gold,
medalist
and
civic
leader.
This
statue
and
plaque
will
be
placed
in
early
wine
Park.
The
Parks
Commission
has
recently
approved
this
request,
so
people
at
earlywine
Park
can
expect
this
statue
and
plaques
soon.

Many
amazing
things
are
happening
in
Ward
vibe
residential
development
activity
throughout
Ward
5
and
new
commercial
developments
are
being
made
mainly
on
Southwest

Street
schools
are
back
in
session
and
both
the
South
Oklahoma
City
Schools
and
more
schools
are
enjoying
their
new
school
year.
Districts
are
experiencing
increases
in
the
number
of
enrolled
students.
More
is
currently
building
a
new
junior
high
and
opened
a
new
elementary
school.

Councilman
green
wall
has
been
attending
neighborhood
homeowner
meetings
to
discuss
the
city's
pog
progress
with
the
street
repairs
enhancements
to
our

the
hiring
of

police

firefighters

projects,
including
those
at
the
fairgrounds
along
the
river

in
downtown.

and

a
bridge
that
runs
underneath
interstate
40.
