Description
The monthly meeting of the Oklahoma City Youth Council on January 8, 2014.
A
Welcome
to
the
monthly
meeting
of
the
oklahoma
city,
youth
council.
The
youth
council
is
a
partnership
between
the
city
and
leadership,
oklahoma
city,
the
18,
youth
council,
members,
learn
about
the
challenges
of
local
government
firsthand
and
the
program
provides
them
with
an
effective,
meaningful
channel
to
influence
decisions
affecting
their
homes,
school
friends
and
community.
While
serving
the
members
learn
about
local
government,
its
components,
processes,
goals
and
successes.
D
Also,
a
resolution
is
currently
being
mediated
and
will
soon
be
reached
between
the
city
of
Oklahoma
City
and
a
local
Native
American
tribe,
following
a
lawsuit
filed
by
the
Native
Americans
regarding
oklahoma
city,
water
supply
coming
from
a
lake
on
tribe
property.
This
affects
Ward
8,
because
it
is
where
the
large
hefner
water
treatment
facility
is
located.
This
resolution
would
help
the
water
facilities
functions.
D
Lots
of
new
development
in
retail
is
currently
taking
place
across
Ward
8
contracts
are
said
to
be
nearing
the
negotiating
table
between
the
city
and
large
retailers
such
as
costco,
Trader
Joe's,
and
a
new
high-end
sporting
goods
store
based
out
of
houston
all
set
to
be
located
within
Ward
8.
If
contracts
are
arbitrated
but
again,
no
contracts
have
been
signed
yet
and
nothing
is
for
certain
still
an
exciting
outlook
for
what
2014
may
bring.
Thank
you
and
this
concludes
my
report
on
for
date,.
E
Hello:
everyone,
my
name,
is
Doug
Richards
and
today
I'm
going
to
the
Commission
reports
for
Ward
8.
First
I
have
a
friendly
reminder
from
the
Oklahoma
City
Water
Utilities
dressed
young,
go
to
the
ongoing
drought
continues
to
affect
our
city,
so
the
water
conservation
program
remains
in
effect,
because
of
this
watering
during
these
freezing
temperatures
is
strictly
forbidden.
In
fact,
watering
during
below
freezing
temperatures
can
get
you
a
citation
and
a
hefty
fine,
be
sure
to
double-check
your
sprinkler
systems
and
make
sure
they
are
turned
off.
E
The
winner
is
also
a
good
time
to
check
all
of
your
indoor
water
systems
for
leaky,
faucets
and
showerheads,
which
could
waste
up
to
10,000
gallons
of
water
per
year.
Aqua
also
reminds
that
if
you
have
a
pre-1994
toilet,
it
is
recommended
that
you
upgrade
to
a
newer
low
flush,
low-flow
flushing
toilet
and
the
ongoing
Chickasaw
aqua
litigation,
as
Sam
mentioned
was
discussed
at
both
yesterday
and
December's
meetings
and
more
details
as
they
come
on
that
that's
all
I
have
to
report
for
today.
E
F
Hi,
my
name
is
Gonzalo
maria's
and
I'm,
a
representative
for
Ward
7.
This
morning
we
have
a
very
short
report.
The
Chesapeake
snow
tubing
occurred
this
last
couple
weeks
at
the
ballpark
and
it
just
ended
January.
Fourth,
the
urban
renewal,
such
as
lighting
and
there's
been
improving
a
lot
of
Transportation
working
on
sidewalks
and
stuff
like
that.
Furthermore,
the
Arts
Council
had
a
big
New
Year's
Eve
party,
and
there
was
a
ball
drop.
A
lot
of
people
came
out
a
lot
of
family
and
friends.
There
was
a
lot
of
fun
out
earlier
hello.
G
My
name
is
Sara
Lee,
Alera,
Naga
and
I'm.
A
representative
for
Ward
7
I,
attended
a
recent
city
council
meeting
on
December
31st.
It
was
a
discussion
for
the
urban
chickens.
It
was
surprising
to
see
how
many
people
were
really
excited
about
this
and
to
see
some
of
the
arguments
that
they
had
to
put
up
for
it
and
they
also
talked
about
the
maps
three
project.
G
One
of
the
topics
that
they
had
discussed
is
the
hotel
and
they
were
talking
about
how
much
money
that
would
need
to
put
into
it
that
it
would.
It
would
require
Oklahoma
to
borrow
over
200
million
dollars
in
order
to
build
that
hotel.
So
that's
up
for
discussion
as
well,
and
there's
also
discussion
over
the
Civic
Center,
a
new
Civic
Center
and
so
yeah.
That's
the
labs
3
discussion.
So
there
will
be
more
to
come
with
that.
Thank.
H
