From YouTube: Coffee with the Mayor - May 19, 2021
Description
Oldsmar Mayor Eric Seidel provides a general recap from the May 18 City Council meeting, discusses the EMS Week proclamation, first reading of Ordinance 2021-05 (amending Land Development Code), Resolution 96-26 (allow two ex-officio teen members to serve on designated boards), Interlocal Agreement with Pinellas County for 1-5 cent LOFT, and recaps the Job Fair.
A
Welcome
to
coffee
with
the
mayor,
I'm
deb
vitrelli
and
we
are
broadcasting
live
from
the
top
of
tampa
bay
in
beautiful,
downtown
oldsmar.
With
our
host
oldsmar
mayor
eric
seidel,
these
segments
are
featured
each
wednesday
following
an
oldsmore
city
council
meeting
for
the
community
good
morning
mayor
good
morning.
How
are
you
tired?
Are
you
tired,
lightning
game?
I
know
it's
what.
A
Bring
it
home
come
on
baby,
bring
on
those
panthers
yeah
yeah.
So
before
we
begin,
we
encourage
our
viewing
audience
to
submit
any
questions
they
may
have
during
this
segment.
By
commenting
on
our
facebook
live
feed,
and
we
will
do
our
best
to
try
to
get
those
answers.
So
just
in
case
we
don't.
You
can
always
email
mayor
seidel
at
eseidel,
milesmart.com
about
anything
that
we
discussed
today.
So
coffee
with
the
mayor
was
developed
by
you
to
keep
our
residents,
businesses
and
community
partners
informed
on
highlights
from
last
night's
council
meetings.
B
There
were
a
couple
of
things.
That's
worth
noting.
I
think
one
with
sharon
edwards
there
who
runs
project
pop
drop
and
for
those
who
don't
know
project
pop
drop
is
a
program.
That's
done
here
on
oldsmar.
She
she
does
it
for
other
organizations,
but
here
she
does
it
for
osmar
cares
and
it
collects
tons
of
items
throughout
the
community.
We
put
boxes
out
at
different
businesses
and
people
can
drop
stuff
off
it's
a
great
program.
It
runs
from
june
1st
to
the
26th,
so
it's
not
started
yet.
B
Okay,
we're
gearing
up
for
it
and
then
on
the
26th
at
we
have
a
tailgate
party.
Oh
fine,
yeah,
it's
gonna
conclude
at
walmart
and
it's
a
big
deal,
but
for
more
details
where
locations
are
at
we'll,
be
promoting
it
more,
but
you
can
go
to
projectpopdrop.org.
A
B
Then
there
was
also
some
discussion
about
some
recent
issues:
we've
had
with
potential
bike
safety,
where
kids
are
out
being
kids
but
being
a
little
bit
dangerous,
doing,
wheelies
potentially
coming
to
cars
and
and
in
some
cases
being
a
little
bit
harassing,
and
so
somebody
came
and
spoke
about
that.
We
did
have
some
discussion
at
the
end
of
the
meeting,
with
an
update
on
potential
ordinances
that
gets
a
little
bit
stricter
and
the
speaker's
intent
was
more
along
the
lines
of
looking
for
outlets
for
the
kids.
B
A
Yes,
so
a
proclamation
was
presented
to
the
community
last
night,
I
believe
by
council
member
gannon
yeah.
B
A
B
And
that
proclamation
is,
is
totally
well
deserved.
As
you
know,
it's
been
such
a
crazy
year
and-
and
we
were
talking
about
this
last
night
as
we
were
recognizing
the
team
who
they
came
out
and
accepted
the
proclamation,
but
we
were
talking
about,
you
know
think
about
the
beginning
of
the
pandemic,
the
unknowns.
B
And
yet
you
know
these
were
the
folks
who
were
going
when
called
on
an
emergency
call
and
still
providing
service
to
those
folks
who
may
or
may
not
have
been
sick.
And
then,
when
we
got
cases
where
we
knew
somebody,
you
know
had
covet
19
and
they
still
were
there,
and
so
they
just
do
a
tremendous
job
for
us
and
our
city
and
our
council
appreciates
them.
So
it
was
nice
to
be
able
to
recognize
them
and.
A
A
B
You,
but
yes,
god
bless,
you
kenny
was
the
one
who
went
first
and
for
those
of
you
who
know
him,
but
he
went
in
and,
and
you
know,
he's
got
a
family
and
this
is
real
world
stops
so
well
deserved
recognition,
definitely
glad
they
were
out
there
hey
and
also
on
saturday.
I
am
reminded
that
we
have
a
cpr
class
from
9
to
12
at
the
fire
station
come
out
and
learn
about.
It
might
be
a
good
time
to
while
it's
ems
week.
Oh
so
it's
free,
then
isn't
it.
B
A
Oh
my
gosh
yeah,
oh
so
ordinance
2021-05,
do
you
say
2021-05
in
the
meetings.
Okay,
so
ordinance
2021-05
received
its
first
reading
and
this
would
be
amending
the
land
development
code
to
provide
criteria
for
accessory
structures
in
flood
hazard
areas
and
to
specify
the
elevation
of
manufactured
homes
and
flood
hazard
areas.
So
did
this
ordinance
pass
the
first
reading.
B
It
did
the
first
reading
passed
is.
Let
me
talk
about
it
a
little
bit
because
you
know,
one
of
the
benefits
of
this
program
is
where
we
can't
really
go
into
some
detail
during
a
council
meeting,
because
there's
procedures
and
that
type
of
stuff,
especially
during
a
public
hearing,
we
can
explain
it
a
little
bit
more.
B
Quite
frankly,
we
have
as
a
council
and
as
a
city
management
team
is,
what's
the
impact
going
to
be
ultimately
to
flood
insurance,
because
there's
going
to
be
an
impact
right,
yeah,
and
so
our
staff
is
working
hard,
tatiana
and
and
all
the
people
in
planning
development
and
felicia
and
assistant
city
manager
are
working
on
ways
that
we
can
take
advantage
of
further
discounts
that
we
get
there's
a
process.
B
There's
a
rating
system
called
the
community
rating
system
that
fema
uses
and
if
we
voluntarily
apply
certain
rules,
all
of
our
citizens,
citizens
get
a
little
bit
of
a
discount,
and
so
we're
looking
for
areas
like
that
like,
for
example,
this.
This
really
deals
with
a
it
is
a
major
change.
Ultimately,
it
deals
with
the
different
type
of
construction
going
from
stemwall
to
a
piling
system.
Okay,
explain
that
stemwall
would
be
where
you
you
had
to
build
up
because
they
required
now.
B
It's
like
12
feet,
or
you
know
the
whatever
the
height
is,
but
I
mean
it's
substantial,
and
so
you
had
the
option
in
the
past
to
put
a
block
wall
around
and
you
would
fill
it
right,
but
of
course
you
could
have
no
garage
structure
underneath.
So
it's
not
practical
when
you're
going
up
that
high
yeah
right,
it
might
have
been
when
you
were
going
to
five
feet
or
something
like
that,
but
it's
not,
and
so
now
we're
going
to
require
that
people
use
a
piling
system.
B
So
so
it
did
pass
and
we'll
we'll
see.
I
would
expect
a
second
reading.
Go
the
same
way,
but
you
never
know
that's
true.
A
So
city
council
was
voting
last
night
to
amend
the
advisory
board
listings
in
resolution
96-26,
and
it
allows
for
two
ex-officio
tech
team
members
to
serve
on
the
veterans
advisory
board.
The
ordinance
and
charter
review
committees
than
any
future
committees,
as
deemed
by
city,
council
and
teens,
can
currently
serve
on
this
in
the
same
capacity
on
the
planning
board
and
leisure
service
advisory
board.
So
was
direction
provided
to
the
city
attorney
to
draft
this
resolution.
Yeah.
B
It
passed
unanimously-
oh
yeah
yeah.
I
think
we're
all
excited
about
trying
to
get
the
kids
more
involved.
They
have
to
be
between
the
ages
of
13
to
18.
to
participate,
they
have
to
live
in
the
city
and
they
can
go
to
our
website
milsmart.com
and
thumb
through
there
and
find
where
they
can
apply
yeah,
but
we're
we're
trying
to
open
it
up,
involve
more
of
the
teens
build
some
depth
and
we've
been
excited
about
how
it's
been
received
to
this
point
on
the
other
boards
and
so
yeah.
B
So
it
passed-
and
I
I
expect
it
will-
will
probably
be
a
big
success.
Yeah.
A
B
Yeah
and
you
know
look
for
for
us
as
a
city-
we're
always
looking
for
ways
to
engage
the
youth
here,
and
this
is
another
way
and
it's
proving
to
be
beneficial
it
also,
especially
when
you're
doing
stuff
in
leisure
services,
or
something
like
that,
where
you
get
that
youthful,
you
know,
I'm
not
gonna
want
to
go,
do
the
same
thing
as
a
15
year
old
right
right,
but
I
can't
go.
Do
the
same
thing.
A
B
Exciting
and
and
yeah
so
it
went
well
and
the
council
was
real
happy
about
it.
A
A
B
It
wasn't
proven,
let
me
explain
how
that
works
a
little
bit.
We
as
a
city
council.
We
don't
have
the
authority
to
approve
the
actual
tax
right,
so
the
county
will
take
that
issue
up,
and
I
had
a
conversation
this
past
weekend
with
commissioner
edgar's
about
it
who's
the
chair
of
the
pinellas
county
commission,
and
I
don't
know
that
he
had
a
real
sense
yet
of
which
direction
that
might
go
in,
but
there's
certainly
been
some
compelling
information
that
county
administrator
bill
barry
burton
has
presented
they.
A
B
And
this
this
money
is
used
for
fixing
sidewalks
and
mowing
and
a
lot
of
different
street
maintenance
stuff,
that's
important.
You
know
it's
important
to
the
way
that
the
community
looks
and
they
have
a
lot
of
county
roads
that
go
through
you
and
there's
a
sharing
revenue,
part
of
it,
and
that's
really
what
we
were
approving
that
if
it
does
get
passed
whatever
they
pass,
that
we
were
saying
hey.
We
want
that
share
of
money
to
come
back
to
the
to
the
city
of
oldsmar,
and
so
it's
a
60.
B
40
split
is
the
way
that
the
revenue
works.
It's
currently
in
place.
They
first
passed
it.
I
think
in
1985,
when
it
first
started,
and
so
when
they
did
that
it
was
a
dollar
twelve,
a
gallon
for
gas
right.
So
it
was
a
while
ago,
but
it's
it's
been
upgraded
once
before,
and
all
of
the
neighboring
communities
are
charging
a
lot
more
than
we
do.
B
The
neighboring
counties
except
hillsboro
charges
the
same
amount
so
we'll
see
how
that
goes
with
the
county
commission,
but
here
in
oldsmar
we
did
approve
it
and
so
that
that'll
move
forward.
B
There
was,
there
was
a
couple
items
one.
I
will
give
an
update
on
the
chamber:
a
jobs,
fair
okay,
they.
A
B
Last
weekend
they
had
a
total
of
somewhere
around
40
employers
have
participated.
It
was
out
at
the
oldsmar
sports
complex,
as
you
probably
know,
and
they
had
a
great
turnout.
They
had
over
a
hundred
potential
employees
attend
and
there
were
somewhere
around
40
employers
there,
and
so
it
sounds
like
they
got
between
two
to
six
applicants
each
out
there,
wow,
which
in
this
market
I
was
out
there
and
spoke
to
everybody.
B
They
were
pretty
pretty
pleased
with
it.
So
the
chamber
did
a
great
job
in
that
and
the
city
even
had
some
folks
who
came
and
applied
at
our
booth,
nice
yeah.
So
we
were
trying
not
that
we
were
trying
to
take
from
the
others,
but
we're
like
go
to
that
booth.
First,.
A
B
Okay,
we
didn't
really
do
that,
but
we
wanted
to,
but
we
didn't
we.
Hopefully
another
big
item
that
came
up
was
a
public
hearing
that
we
had
and
it
was
kind
of
a
surprise.
So
we
chapter
two
of
our
ordinances
predominantly
deals
with
administrative
stuff
and
the
council.
B
During
our
workshop
we
had
a
consensus
on
what
was
being
proposed.
Most
of
it
was
administrative
changes
typos
that
type
of
stuff,
but
there
was
a
section
in
there
that
dealt
with
the
council's
compensation
as
council
members,
okay
for
both
the
council
members
and
the
mayor,
and
at
the
time
when
we
had
the
workshop,
we
took
no
action
on
it,
which
generally
means
it
dies,
but
for
some
reason
it
was.
B
It
was
part
of
the
package
last
night
and
there's
been
more
discussion
apparently
since
that
time,
and
so
there
was
an
amendment
proposed
by
councilmember
gannon
to
include
it
in
the
changes
which
would
have
increased
the
compensation
for
council
members
and
mayors
in
the
future.
It
doesn't
doesn't
impact
this
current
council,
but
it
would
future
ones
right
and
she
made
a
proposal
which
was
to
reduce
the
amount
that
was
being
proposed
by
the
ordinance
committee.
It
failed
council
member
soraki
spoke
in
support
of
it.
You
know
talk
pointing
that.
B
We
have
young
families
involved
now,
because
the
council
dynamics
has
changed
sure
yeah
and
it
failed,
and
I
had
suggested
that
I
had
suggested
that
a
good
way
to
approach
that
is,
let's
make
it
a
referendum.
B
Yeah
and
that
way,
you
don't
have
a
city
council
voting
on
compensation
that
potentially,
if
they
ran
for
reelection,
they
might
be
receiving
in
the
future.
And
this
way
we
can
ask
the
citizens.
How
do
you
feel
about
it
because
the
ordinance
review
committee,
it
was
unanimous,
they
felt
very
strongly
about
it,
okay,
and
so
you
can't
ignore
that.
But
by
the
same
token,
you
know,
I
think,
like
everybody,
when
you
hear
about
when
you
hear
about
washington,
giving
themselves
a
raise,
it's
just
you
know.
B
Eric's
irks
is
a
good
word
among
others,
but
but-
and
so
we
don't
want
to-
we
don't
want
to
do
that.
We
want
to
let
the
citizens
decide
whether
or
not
that's
something
they
think
is
of
value
yeah
and
so
councilmember
gannon
added
it
to
the
next
tentative
agenda.
B
Where
we'll
discuss
it
and
we'll
go
through
the
process
and
if
it's
the
pleasure
of
the
council,
it's
something
that
we'll
come
to
an
agreement
on
and
put
it
on
a
future
ballot
and
let's
let
our
citizens
decide
whether
or
not
that's
something
something
that
they
want
to
to
do.
It
hasn't
been
done,
since
I
think
2006
was
the
last
time
that
there's
been
any
change.
Oh
wow,
you
know,
but
people
don't
want
to.
No,
they
don't
do
that.
A
So
just
shout
out
to
everybody
watching
thank
you
for
your
patience
as
we
got
the
sound
corrected
so.
A
A
B
A
So
we
do
have
one
question
from
dina
phillips
and
they
would
like
to
know:
when
will
the
oldsmar
spray
park
be
reopened?.
B
It's
currently
being
worked
on.
I
don't
have
the
exact
date
I'll
tell
you
what
I'll
come
and
post
it
okay
on
the
city's
facebook
page,
but
it
should
be
getting
closer
and
closer.
I
know
we've
got
it
being
actively
worked
on
right
now,
so
you
know
one
of
the
problems
that
we're
having
on
any
kind
of
job
that
we're
doing
in
the
city
is
the
same
thing
that
everybody's
having
it's
not
just
employees
or
you
know
the
contractors
that
we've
hired
right,
but
it's
materials
yeah.
B
You
know
materials,
there's
some
stuff,
that's
going
up
in
oldsmar
that
I
thought
had,
you
know
been
been
shelved
yeah
and
I
talked
to
the
owner
and
they're
like
no.
We
can't
get
roofing
supplies.
We
can't
get
this.
We
can't
get
that
so
I
don't
know
if
that's
delayed
in
any,
but
it
seems
to
be
a
common
problem,
but
I
know
it
is
actively
being
worked
on
so
I'll
make
sure
that
gets
posted
up
there.
Thank
you.
A
And
I
know,
speaking
of
you,
know,
delays
and
shipments
and
just
a
reminder.
The
public
this
this
saturday
is
the
free
tree
giveaway
at
municipal
services
center
from
9
to
11
a.m.
Id
required
ellsmore
resident
check
the
pinellas
county.
You
know
tax
collectors
for
just
confirm
that
you
are
a
president
right
yeah,
but
we
promoted
the
fact
that
there
were
certain
species
of
trees,
but
with
certain
shipment
issues
going
on
from
you
know
around
the
world
and
etc
that
we
can't
really
guarantee
that
those
species
would
be.
B
No
covered
trees,
hey
you
know
what
was
exciting
last
night.
What's
that
I
thought
it
was
exciting
that,
because
all
of
our
council's
been
vaccinated
that
we
actually
were
able
to
all
sit
up
on
the
dice
together
like
we
used
to
do
oh
nice,
so
it's
different.
That's.
B
A
B
Spoiled
but
hey,
you
know
what
uh-oh
I'm
almost
out
of
coffee
yeah.
That
means
that
it's
time
to
wrap
it
up
all
right.
