From YouTube: VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION 2021
Description
Join City Officials as they recognize those who have served our country.
A 'roll call' will be performed to announce and recognize Oldsmar veterans who's names will be engraved into the Veterans Memorial Wall.
A
We
thank
you
for
choosing
to
be
with
us
today
and
hope
you
enjoy
the
program
on
veterans
day
2006,
the
city
of
oldsmar,
officially
dedicated
this
beautiful
veterans
memorial
park
in
honor
of
all
veterans
of
the
armed
services
as
incredible
as
the
park
already
is.
It
is
always
evolving
as
evidence
of
why
we
are
here
today
and
you
can
be
a
part
of
this
process.
A
I
I
encourage
you
to
consider
purchasing
a
commemorative
brick
that
will
be
permanently
installed
here
in
the
memorial
plaza
alongside
the
many
other
bricks
you
already
see
here.
Every
day,
this
member
of
brick
campaign
provides
an
opportunity
to
become
a
part
of
the
city
of
oldsmar's
legacy
and
all
proceeds
from
those
sales
are
utilized
for
the
veteran's
park
improvements.
A
consider
leaving
a
legacy
while
helping
the
growth
of
this
beautiful
park.
At
the
same
time
after
the
ceremony,
you
can
stop
by
the
table
near
the
food
for
more
information,
and
now
I
would
like
to
ask
commander
david
bear
to
provide
a
few
words
regarding
information
on
our
very
own
old
florent,
vfw,
post
12186.
B
Good
morning,
everybody
thanks
to
a
trusted
advisor,
I
will
start
using
key
cards
and
whatnot.
So
humor
made
this.
My
first
attempt
I'm
going
to
forego
all
the
acknowledgements
and
thank
yous
in
an
effort
to
get
you
guys
to
the
rest
of
the
program
and
food
as
quickly
as
possible.
B
B
How
about
other
groups
like
the
moose,
the
elks,
participate
in
groups
like
both
marcaire's
the
chamber?
We
all
have
this.
This
urge
to
serve
well
with
that
desire.
I'd
like
to
kind
of
tell
you
how
you
can
help
inspire
and
support
us
in
continuing
to
serve
you
one,
stop
by
our
table
and
tell
us
how
we
can
help
you.
B
B
You
can
come
to
our
events
and
when
I
say
our
events,
I
mean
old
mart
as
a
whole.
Second,
fridays,
our
post,
is
doing
an
event
on
december,
2nd
the
state
crime
task
force
zombies
phone
hello,
the
state
crime
task
force
is
going
to
be
at
oldsmar
library,
tico
hall
december,
2nd
at
6
p.m,
open
to
the
community,
totally
free,
and
it's
all
about
your
safety
and
support
of
the
community.
They
go
over.
A
myriad
of
subjects
show
up
and
support
us
businesses
sponsor
our
website.
B
Everything
takes
a
little
bit
of
money
to
kick
off,
but
we
don't
use
any
of
that
money
for
ourselves
we're
a
money
funnel.
We
funnel
it
in
the
community
where
it
needs
to
be
help
veterans
in
need
support.
Our
programs
join
your
veterans
organizations
if
you
qualify
for
multiple
joint
monitors
is
us
here
today.
B
His
office
is
represented,
talk
to
those
folks.
They
understand
that
if
you
go
in
there
with
a
thousand
members,
they
don't
talk
to
you
or
listen
as
much
as
when
you
got
ten
thousand
members
or
a
hundred
thousand
members
vfw
is
1.5
million
strong.
Our
auxiliary
should
be
four
times
that
those
numbers
are
important
participate
in
our
fundraisers.
When
you
step
over
to
the
table,
there's
marietta
fundraisers
everything
from
our
sponsor
group
to
our
december
cash
raffle
to
we're
raffling
off
a
quote
that
was
donated.
B
B
B
When
you
see
those
buddy
poppies,
there's
a
whole
story
in
history
to
that
that
we
need
to
get
out
multiple
other
safety
programs
veterans
in
schools,
just
all
kinds
of
things,
so
in
a
quick,
closing,
reader's
digest
version,
and
probably
my
shortest
speech
ever
I'd
like
to
thank
you
all
for
acknowledging
all
veterans,
whether
it's
your
first
day
of
basic
training
or
you've,
served
and
retired
all
veterans.
This
is
our
day
to
be
happy
and
be
grateful
for
our
nation,
so
in
closing
or
two
of
this
joke,
why
are
there?
No
knock-knock
jokes
about
america.
B
B
B
2020
was
a
tough
year
for
everyone.
Equally,
so
for
our
veterans
nationwide,
our
veteran
population
is
about
18
million
people.
These
men
and
women
that
dedicated
a
period
of
their
lives
to
defending
our
country
now
have
many
of
the
same
struggles
as
those
that
stayed
at
home
unemployment
for
our
gulf
war
era.
Team
veterans
is
spiked
as
high
as
7.3
percent
through
2020.
B
B
B
B
B
C
C
A
C
We
ask
your
blessings
on
those
present
here
today
to
celebrate
the
lives
of
many
courageous
men
and
women,
their
youth,
their
dedication,
their
energy
and
often
their
lives
protected
behind
this
great
nation,
from
the
training
fields
to
the
battlefields
by
air,
land
and
sea.
So
many
true
patriots,
armed
with
immense
enthusiasm
for
freedom
set
out
for
the
fronts
of
normandy
and
the
european
theater,
the
pacific,
korea,
vietnam,
the
persian
gulf,
iraq,
afghanistan
and
our
own
borders
and
coastlines
to
keep
the
peace
to
protect
our
liberty
and
our
personal,
spiritual,
religious,
political
and
economic
freedoms.
C
C
May
they
be
given
the
wisdom
of
the
valuable
sacrifices
made
by
their
forefathers
and
the
strength
of
the
commission
of
the
universe
of
peace.
We
ask
the
lord.
You
may
grace
us
with
your
presence
that
you
would
help
us
with
our
pain
and
that
you
will
hear
our
prayers
and
have
regard
for
our
thoughts
on
this
day.
Bless
us
bless
those
who
gave
their
best
to
themselves.
C
C
C
C
C
C
C
Good
morning,
it's
so
great
to
see
all
of
you
here
today.
I
do
have
a
message
from
congressman
vescolarakis,
dear
neighbors,
as
we
gather
to
celebrate
veterans
day.
I
ask
that
you
remember
that
the
price
of
freedom
is
not
free,
but
rather
it
is
prayed
paid
by
the
brave
men
and
women
who
answer
the
call
to
protect
and
serve
our
nation.
C
C
However,
we
still
have
a
long
way
to
go,
particularly
as
it
relates
to
improving
veterans
access
to
effective
mental
health
treatment.
Despite
providing
increased
funding
for
prevention,
we
still
have
far
too
many
veterans
that
committing
suicide
each
day.
I
co-sponsored
legislation
signed
into
law
last
year.
That
would
change
the
way
we
identify
those
who
are
at
risk
and
provide
intervention
for
community
stakeholders.
C
We
must
also
ensure
that
veterans
who
have
become
ill
after
exposure
to
burn
pit
toxins
during
their
service
have
access
to
the
care
and
benefits
they
need,
while
the
va
collecting
names
for
those
exposed
and
continues
to
study
the
issue,
we
have
veterans
who
are
sick
and
dying.
Now,
in
fact,
my
constituent
and
friend
lauren
price
died
earlier
this
year
from
an
illness
linked
to
her
toxic
toxic
exposure
to
burn
pits
in
iraq.
C
C
C
Again,
thank
you
for
coming
today
to
celebrate
our
nation's
heroes.
I
renew
my
promise
to
honor
the
sacrifices
they
and
their
families
have
made
on
behalf
of
our
nation.
May
god
bless
each
of
you
and
may
god
continue
to
bless
america,
america
respectfully
congressman,
that's,
and
if
I
may
just
mention
too,
we
have
a
veterans
resource
there
on
saturday
at
the
pasco
hernandez
state
college,
at
wesley
chapel
from
10
to
noon
as
one
of
our
ways
of
sort
of
honoring
the
veterans
we
have.
C
30
plus
vendors-
and
we
also
have
made
it
the
year
of
tampa
bay
and
the
tampa
bay,
buccaneers
and
partnership,
we'll
have
the
vince
lombardi
trophy
there
for
you
as
a
way
to
say
thank
you,
champs
veterans,
our
champs.
So
thank
you
again
veterans.
We
appreciate
it.
C
Commissioner,
anchors
will
be
presenting
us
with
a
proclamation
today,
along
with
a
few
remarks.
Commissioner,
was
elected
to
the
pinellas
county
board
of
county
commissioners
in
november
2014.
before
becoming
a
county
commissioner.
He
served
as
the
mayor
of
dunedin
from
march
2009
through
november
2014..
C
In
addition,
he
also
served
as
a
city
commissioner
for
dunedin
from
2003
through
2009.
during
his
tenure
with
ben
eden.
He
started
the
youth
advisory
council,
social
services
committee
and
the
public
safety
committee.
He
also
led
efforts
to
recognize
returning
veterans,
establish
a
purple
heart
park
and
achieved
the
purple
heart
city,
designation
of
dunedin
and
as
a
county
commissioner,
he
advocated
and
led
the
effort
for
pinellas
to
become
a
purple
heart.
A
C
D
D
It
is
just
awesome
to
be
here
and
it's
a
real
honor,
and
I
want
to
thank
the
mayor
and
the
committee
for
inviting
me
to
say
just
a
few
words.
Thank
you
congressman
villaratis.
Those
words
were
perfect,
vice
mayor
for
your
first
time
that
was
awesome
to
receive
it
really
was
it's
very
well
done
good,
looking
rotc
group
megan
amazing,
that
was
just
a
beautiful
rendition.
I
I
still
have
absolutely
an
awe
of
people
to
just
start
and
see
that
very
difficult
song,
but
god
bless
you.
D
Thank
you
for
that,
and
I
really
just
had
a
couple
comments.
One
first
of
all,
I
haven't
had
a
chance
since
I've
been
a
county
commissioner
to
speak
at
memorial
day
ceremony
or
a
veteran's
day
ceremony.
So
this
is
a
real
honor
for
me
and
I
just
wanted
to
take
the
opportunity
to
thank
each
of
you
veterans
and
your
families
for
your
sacrifice,
defending
our
freedoms
and
our
liberties
that
we
have
in
this
country
that
we
so
often
take
for
granted.
D
I
heard
this
earlier
this
week
and
I
heard
earlier
this
morning
over
at
curly
hills
that
the
freedom
that
we
fight
for
is
only
a
generation
away
from
extinction.
It
has
to
be
fought
for
and
defended
by
each
generation,
and
I
know
that
each
of
you
have
done
that
big
time,
and
we
thank
you
for
that.
It's
really
amazing
that
we
have
you
in
our
communities,
doing
the
mentorship
and
teaching
and
schooling
and
everything
else.
D
It
can
be
real
leaders
for
our
young
people
in
a
way,
just
as
a
beacon,
a
reminder
to
what
you
have
done
for
us
over
these
years,
and
I
just
as
a
personal
comment-
and
I
just
wanted
to
say
that
this
past
year,
a
year
and
a
half
has
been
just
horrible
and
horrible
experience
for
all
of
us
and
to
the
extent
that
it
affected
your
families
in
any
way,
my
sincere
deep
apology
that
you've
had
to
go
through
any
of
the
issues
that
were
an
affront
to
your
feelings
of
freedom
here
in
this
county.
D
D
D
D
The
city
working
with
the
city
of
safety,
harbor
working
with
the
county
working
with
the
state
renaming
a
grid,
a
simple
act
of
renaming,
the
bridge
after
corporal
frank
gross,
becoming
a
purple
heart
city
having
the
monument
right
over
here
having
the
monuments
behind
us.
I
think
it
just
speaks
to
the
incredible
vision
if
you
will
and
love
for
veterans
that
this
city
has
so,
I
just
wanted
to
say
thank
you
to
the.
D
City
and
finally,
I
just
wanted
to
remind
you
that
the
pinellas
county
stands
ready
to
assist
you
on
any
veteran
that
is
seeking
benefits
that
they
deserve
and
that
they
have
earned.
And
so
we
have
a
veteran's
office.
You
can
go
to
pinellascounty.org
and
we
have
veteran
officers
ready
and
willing
and
able
to
serve
and
help
you
get
the
benefits,
as
I
said
that
you
deserve.
D
D
And
the
final
thing
I
would
say
is
that
I
am
a
member
of
the
veterans
engagement
board
that
was
mentioned
earlier,
along
with
jerry
custic,
who
you
all
know,
and
we
are
we're
proud
to
be
a
part
of
that
we
serve
as
a
go-between
between
the
veterans
and
the
va
communication.
Both
ways
issues
both
ways
that
come
up,
and
so
we
stand
ready
to
help
you
in
that
regard.
D
So
just
in
closing,
I
just
said
again
on
a
personal
note
to
my
uncle
jasper
white,
who
was
a
long-time
army
vet
to
receive
many
awards
and
things
from
from
his
army
services.
My
dad
who
was
a
marine
himself,
who
was
two
years
in
in
during
korea,
but
never
left
the
shores
of
north
carolina,
and
he
said.
D
Well,
I
don't
know
hero-
and
I
said
well,
you're
always
a
hero
to
me
so
and
my
brother,
who
is
suffering
from
many
issues
related
to
what
you
all
have
been
through,
and
I
just
again
from
the
bottom
of
my
heart
want
to
thank
you,
and
I
want
to
present
this
this
proclamation
to
the
city
of
oldsmar.
I'm
not
going
to
read
it,
but
it's
basically
talked
about
the
importance,
the
definition
of
a
veteran's
day
and
the
issues
that
have
come
up
around
this
country
and
the
importance
of
recognizing
our
veterans.
C
At
this
time
I
am
also
honored
to
introduce
senator
ed
hooper.
He
represents
district
16,
which
covers
northern
pinellas
and
parts
of
southwest
pasco
counties.
He
attended
st
petersburg
junior
college,
where
he
stuttered
studied
fire
science
and
emergency
medicine,
senator
hooper
retired,
from
the
clearwater
fire
department
after
24
years
of
service,
his
political
career.
Yes,
yes,
his
political
career
began
in
1996
when
he
was
elected
a
commissioner
for
the
city
of
clearwater,
where
he
served
until
the
year
2000,
including
as
vice
mayor
in
1999-2000,
from
2006
to
2014.
C
Well,
you've
got
a
lot
coming
up
this
year,
sir,
and
I
know
his
beautiful
wife
lee
hooper
is
here
somewhere.
I'm
looking
for
her
there,
she
is
such
a
huge
supporter
for
our
senator
and
for
our
community
and
his
legislative
aide.
Marijuana
is
over
here.
Thank
you.
So
much
for
being
here,
please
welcome
senator
ed
hooper,
my
friend.
B
B
B
B
B
Memorial
day
is
a
special
day
where
we
honor
those
who
we
can't
see
and
talk
to
those
that
made
that
ultimate
sacrifice
the
veterans
day
of
the
day
we
can
say
to
you.
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
your
commitment.
Thank
you
for
your
service.
Thank
you
to
your
family
for
what
they
endure,
and
families
endure
much
more
than
most
families
would
ever
want
to
undertake.
B
So
today's
the
day
that
we
officially
by
national
declaration,
say
thank
you
for
what
you
have
done,
that
we
may
be
able
to
live
in
the
freest
and
greatest
country
on
the
face
of
the
earth,
but
every
day
is
the
day
that
we
ought
to
make
sure
we
never
pass
an
active
military
person
or
a
veteran
if
we
know
they
are
want
to
not
say.
Thank
you,
sir.
A
man
for
your
for
your
outstanding
service.
B
We
encourage
them
to
stay
in
florida
and
we
make
sure
we
offer
them
opportunities
to
do
just
that,
and
we
make
sure
that
their
families
are
offered
simple
things
like
if
your
spouse
is
a
a
hairdresser,
if
you're
a
spouse
of
an
active
military
that
spouse
doesn't
have
to
go,
take
a
state
exam.
They
are
automatically
licensed
to
practice
anywhere
in
the
state
of
florida.
We
care
about
you.
We
care
about
your
families,
you
care
about
when
you
retire,
the
health
and
welfare
of
you.
B
I
can
remember,
as
a
young
man
in
the
60s
back
when
the
crust
of
the
earth
was
cooling
off
for
some
of
you,
youngsters
watching
my
friends
and
classmates
go
off
to
vietnam.
There
was
a
thing
called
the
draft
back
then
that
many
of
you
fully
understand
once
you're
going
to
go
off
to
vietnam
and
to
cambodia
and
thailand
and
places
that
unimaginable
to
even
talk
about
and
a
lot
of
those
didn't
come
back
and,
unfortunately,
a
lot
of
the
ones
that
didn't
come
back.
They
didn't
really
come
back.
B
B
To
keep
america
what
america
needs
to
be
and
their
moments
of
every
day
that
we,
some
people
in
some
parts
of
government
ought
to
rethink
some
of
their
decisions
and
statements
and
make
sure
that,
let
us
not
forget
how
we
got
to
be
the
country
we
are,
and
let
us
never
forget
who
paid
that
price
for
us
to
get
here.
God
bless
america.
God
bless
you.
Thank
you
very
much.
A
A
You
haven't
had
to
cancel
so
many
events.
It
really
feels
like
this
is
such
a
treat
for
us
all
to
be
together
in
person
doesn't
feel
good.
I
love
it.
You
know
last
year
I
remember
matt
vice
mayor
and
I
mentioned
that
we
live
streamed.
We
tried
the
live
stream.
We
had
a
little
glitch.
Some
of
you
might
know
that,
but
we're
gonna
make
up
for
that
today.
I
promise
you.
D
A
A
Let
me
also
thank
vice
command.
Senior.
Vice
commander
bear
for
his
comments,
commissioner
edgar
also
senator
hooper.
We
appreciate
you
and,
of
course,
congressman
bill.
Bilarakis
office
is
well
represented,
as
always,
and
also.
C
A
You
to
all
the
dignitaries
for
taking
the
time
to
be
here.
For
our
event,
we
greatly
appreciate
you
attending.
A
A
And
at
this
time,
I'd
also
like
to
recognize
whether
you
stand
or
raise
your
hand,
any
gold,
star
families
who
are
with
us
this
afternoon
this
morning.
A
And
by
a
show
of
hands
or
stand
up,
if
you,
if
you
can't
stand
race,
any
veterans
who
are
here
with
us
today,
please
stand
up
for
racism.
A
Thank
you.
Thank
you
for
your
service.
This
has
been
an
interesting
time
in
our
country
system.
Equivalent
19,
shutdowns
purple
opens
face
masks,
vaccines,
national
elections
that
seem
to
be
crazier
than
the
last
two
years
have
been.
It's
been
a
crazy
time.
It's
nice
for
us
to
replace
some
of
that.
Some
of
those
fires
with
calm
to
come
together
and
celebrate
what
matters
most
and
that's
part
of
excellence.
A
A
A
A
According
to
the
veterans
administration.
Today
there
are
approximately
19
and
a
half
million
living
vets
in
the
united
states.
That's
a
lot
of
people
more
people
than
the
state
of
new
york
and
on
this
veterans
day,
I
kind
of
am
reminded
a
little
bit
about
the
other
300
million
of
us
who
have
never
walked
in
the
shoes
of
a
veteran,
and
I
believe
that
days
like
today
that
we
should
be
reminded
of
what
bravery
actually
looks
like,
and
I
want
to
share
it.
A

A

A
Eventually,
the
army
prevailed
and
the
young
man
from
michigan
accepted
the
country's
highest
award
10
days
before
his
21st
birthday,
president
nixon
greeted
him
at
the
white
house
and
proclaimed
in
the
hero
he
who
had
become
a
naturalized
citizen
of
the
united
states
at
age.
12
was
the
first
canadian
born
metal
holder
first
canadian,
born
medal
of
honor
recipient
of
the
vietnam
war
in
the
