Description
Description
A
Petition
is
here,
and
it's
just
a
beautiful
place
to
play:
I
mean
every
Tuesday
and
Thursday
nights.
We
have
large
groups
of
people
that
come
from
Fort
Myer
just
to
play
here
in
in
Punta
Gorda
and
that
that
says
a
lot
about
our
community.
So,
okay,
there
we
go
so
phase.
Two
is
a
forty
thousand
square
foot
building
with
eight
indoor
courts,
a
restaurant
bar,
a
fitness
facility,
a
ten
thousand
square
foot
conference
center,
Pro
Shop
outdoor
covered
picnic
area
and
at
an
estimated
cost
of
three
and
a
half
million.
A
Now
it
says
actually
completion
date
of
December
2018,
but
that's
actually
our
construction
date.
We
hope
to
start
construction
of
that.
Forty
thousand
square
foot
building
by
December
2018
now
I,
don't
pretend
to
know
how
to
run
a
restaurant,
a
fitness
center,
Pro,
Shop
or
anything
so
those
those
facilities
will
actually
go
up
for
bid
or
lease.
Oh,
you
know
we
aren't
personally
going
to
run
those
ourselves.
We
actually
want
to
maintain
the
conference
center
under
the
abort
control
and
we
would
actually
hire
a
manager
to
look
and
run
that
facility.
A
If
we
can
sell
the
naming
rights
to
all
those
courts,
it
will
actually
pay
for
phase
3
and
phase
one,
and
it's
advantageous
that
we
do
that,
because
if
we
can
build
all
32
courts
at
once,
the
construction
cost
comes
down
considerably,
because
all
that
equipments
out
there
at
the
same
time
again
covered
seating
and
an
estimated
cost
of
300
thousand
dollars
and
again
we'd
like
to
bring
that
into
this
first
phase.
One
also
so
rewards,
obviously
hotel
RVs,
restaurants,
car
rentals
airlines,
and
this
is
big.
A
You
know
we
plan
on
having
six
to
seven
tournaments
annually
and
that
means
during
the
summer.
You
know
we're
gonna,
be
bringing
people
here
and
you
say:
well,
you
know
Ted
it's
hot
here.
Well,
you
know
we
play
in
the
hot
every
day,
but
also
when
we
get
that
forty
thousand
square
foot
building,
we
don't
care,
whether
it's
hot
or
whether
they're
training,
because
we're
gonna
have
eight
indoor
courts
with
outdoor
surfaces.
A
So
it's
not
going
to
change
the
the
plain
activity
it's
going
to
be
exactly
the
same
as
if
you
were
playing
outside
we're
gonna
hold
pickleball
clinics
and
academies,
and
this
is
something
that
the
board
is
actually
excited
about
during
the
summer
when
the
kids
are
out
of
school.
You
know
we
want
to
pick
them
up,
go
down
in
South,
County
pick
them
up,
bring
them
to
our
facility,
teach
them
how
to
play.
Pickleball
teach
them
sportsmanship.
You
know
and
keep
these
kids
busy.
A
You
know
this
is
our
way
of
giving
back
matter
of
fact,
the
pro
that
we
are
going
to
hire
for
the
facility.
You
know
this
will
be
a
part
of
his
duty
to
make
sure
that
this
happens,
and
so
this
is
something
that
we're
really
excited
about
and
I
know.
Dave
Dave
Fox
he's
also
excited
about
bringing
intramural
pickleball
into
our
high
schools.
You
know.
A
Currently
we
have
two
of
the
coaches
down
from
Charlotte
high
that
you
know
during
the
summer
they
play
every
day
and
then,
after
basketball
practice,
you
know
that
they
said
at
pickleball
in
the
gymnasium
courts
and
they're
playing
every
day.
You
know
this
is
the
fastest
growing
sport
in
the
United,
States
and
and
and
the
young
and
the
old
are
really
enjoying
this
matter.
Fact,
it's
funny
how
when
I
first
start
playing
pickleball
we'd
have
the
tennis
players
say:
I'll,
never
play
pickleball
I'll,
never
play
pickleball.
A
You
know
it's
a
disgrace,
and
now
we've
got
more
tennis.
People
coming
down
and
playing
pickleball
I,
just
I
laugh
every
day
when
I
hear
it
actually
so
again.
Rewards
tourism
boosts
hotels,
RV
sites,
restaurants,
car
rentals,
offseason,
tournaments,
pickleball,
clinics
and
academies,
the
youth
development
programs
and
then
obviously
the
conference
space
that
will
speak
for
itself.
You
know
it's
going
to
be
on
a
beautiful
sight.
The
one
end
of
the
building
is
going
to
be
all
glass
looking
onto
a
covered
picnic
pick
up
our
picnic
area.
A
So
is
this
going
to
be
a
great
facility
to
have
weddings
and
other
functions
there?
I
want
to
speak
to
the
what
we
call
it
a
stay
vacation
during
the
summer
and
throughout
the
years
we
actually
want
to
invite
pickleball
people,
and
they
do
this
at
other
facilities
also,
but
we
won't
invite
them
for
a
four
or
five
day
pickleball
camp
and
what
we're
gonna
do.
You
know
we're
not
going
to
say
just
come
here
and
we're
going
to
teach
you
how
to
play
pickleball
but
we're
gonna.
A
Have
them
come
here,
we're
gonna
plan
out
their
whole
days.
That
means
one
day
we're
going
to
go.
You
know
four
points
or
the
next
days
we're
gonna
go
Carmela's,
you
know
and
we're
gonna
make
sure
that
their
whole
day
is
filled
up.
You
know
either
we're
going
to
take
you
out
on
a
boat
ride,
but
you
know
we're
going
to.
You
know,
use
the
businesses
that
we
have
in
town
and
make
sure
that
they
see
every
part
of
Punta
Gorda
and
Charlotte
County.
So
it's
it's
a
full
state,
education,
okay,
so
rewards
again.
A
A
So,
and-
and
this
is
the
other
thing-
I
can't
express
enough-
the
exposure
that
we're
going
to
give
fsw
I
mean
I
lived
here
actually
for
a
year
before
I
even
knew
there
was
a
college
on
the
campus
there.
So
you
know
it's
really
hid
well
in
the
in
the
woods
back
there,
but
I
think
the
exposure
that
we're
going
to
give
fsw.
A
So
there
it
is,
you
know,
buying
here
today,
I'm
looking
for
support
from
the
city,
you
know
we'd
like
to
see
you
know
the
city
by
naming
rights
on
two
courts
for
one
set
of
16
for
the
other
set
of
16.
You
know
we
didn't
name
this,
this
facility
of
pickle
Plex
of
Charlotte
County.
We
need
a
big
complex
of
Punta
Gorda
because
we're
proud
and
we're
lucky
to
live
here
in
this
city,
and
we
want
this
city
behind
us.
A
A
One
will
be
the
the
one
closest
to
the
parking
facilities,
there's
a
lot
of
land
clearing,
and
this
is
the
other
nice
thing
we've
already
done.
Our
environmental
survey,
which
which
turned
out
great
there,
are
no
wetlands.
There
are
no
endangered
species.
So
we've
done
all
that
work
already
so,
but
phase
one
would
be
that
closest
set
of
courts
to
the
parking
lot,
but
we're
hoping
to
do
phase
one
and
Phase
three
and
the
concession
stand
and
the
water
feature
so
we're
actually
calling
that
phase.
A
A
A
Phase
on
the
first
sixteen,
and
if
you
could
buy
that
second
16s,
because
I'd
like
to
see
your
name
on
both
both
sets
of
courts,
I'm
asking
for
$40,000.
So
what
I'm
asking
for
that?
The
naming
rights
per
court
is,
is
$20,000
and
just
to
show
you.
You
know
how
much
I'm
into
this
I
actually
personally
gave
Gloria
checked
this
morning
for
$20,000,
so
my
name
will
actually
be
on
one
of
those
courts.
So
that's
how
much
I'm
invested
in
this
program.
D
Vice
mayor
comments
are
based
on
what
last
week
was
a
request
for
one
quarter:
I
support
the
efforts
for
the
pickle
plex
project
and
believe
the
city
should
participate
in
its
creation
again.
I
want
to
thank
Nancy
Brophy
for
representing
City
Council
in
this
endeavor.
It's
exciting
and
and
staff
is
in
support
of
the
request
for.
A
E
A
A
You
know,
obviously,
if
you
give
me
40
thousand
more,
that
gets
me
40,000
more
closer,
but
you
know
we
believe
we
can
come
up
with
a
$300,000
before
our
media
event
on
September
13th
at
9
o'clock,
so
and
obviously
you're
all
invited
that
media
event
you'll
get
your
invitations,
but
you
know
the
college
is
being
you
know
secure
and
what
we're
trying
to
do
so
we
have
to
come
up
with
a
$300,000
before
we
can
actually
start
construction.
So
it's
going
to
happen
problem.
B
C
I
agree
with
that
we
had
our
package
included,
request
for
$20,000
and
after
talking
with
Howard-
and
we
know
we
have
the
money
available
in
a
reserve-
account
I
and
I
was
going
to
actually
suggest
that
we
not
transfer
money
into
their
account
until
we
had
50%
of
the
money
visibly
showing
in
as
being
a
good
steward
of
our
city's
money,
but
you're
pretty
close
to
that.
So
I
have
I,
have
a
comfort
level
with
with
going
ahead
with
one
court.
At
this
point,
I'm.
E
Comfortable
with
one
court,
but
I
would
like
to
say
that
I
would
reserve
that
we
could
add
more
support
that
this
this
project
is
really
helping
us
our
community
in
multiple
ways
and
in
addition
to
economic
development,
I'm
this
the
tourism
aspect
and
in
bringing
people
here
is
going
to
be
huge
and
it's
there
are
possibilities
of
this
being
on
the
pro
circuit,
having
a
tournament
here
as
a
precursor
to
the
US
Open.
So
it's
really
going
to
do
a
lot
for
this
community
in
ways
that
a
lot
of
hotel
stays
and
restaurant
participate.
E
You
know
that
kind
of
thing
as
well.
In
addition,
it's
going
to
help
us
alleviate
a
situation
we
have
and
and
I
think
I
realized
right
now.
This
is
not
on
the
in
the
city
proper,
but
I've
asked
Howard
to
please
reach
out
to
waterford
estates,
because
the
president
of
fsw
Charlotte,
that's
right,
has
said
as
soon
as
they're
contiguous
with
the
city.
We
will
annex
so
they're
just
waiting
to
annex
into
the
city.
It
won't
benefit
us
from
a
tax
perspective,
but
it
will,
it
will
get,
can
be
an
an
avenue
to
go
further.
E
C
I
think
I
think,
given
the
intent
that
they
would
like
to
annex
into
the
city
in
the
future
that
may
allow
us
to
go
forward
with
another
court
at
some
point
in
the
future,
but
for
right
now,
I'm
comfortable
with
one
and
I
would
make
a
recommendation
that
we
do
that.
Do
we
need
a
motion
for
that
I'd
like
to
make
a
motion.
We
approve
the
funds
for
one
court
in
phase
one
of
the
pickle
flex,
complex.
G
Morning,
good
afternoon,
sorry,
Kelly
Gaylord
from
the
Punta
Gorda
historic,
mural,
Society
I.
Think
you
all
know.
At
this
point
we
were
working
with
the
city
on
a
new
proposed
mural
and
I
fact.
It
was
Mitchell
who
asked
me
to
bring
this
location
to
the
mural
society
back
in
April
and
see
if
we'd
be
interested
in
doing
a
mural
here.
I
always
like
it.
When
people
bring
us
locations,
Thank,
You,
Mitchell
and
the
proposed
location
is
the
newly
constructed
retaining
wall
under
the
southbound
41
bridge
along
Harbor
Walk,
which
is
a
great
location.
G
The
design
there
great.
Thank
you.
The
design
was
created
by
our
artist
skip
Derrida,
who
also
just
finished
our
firehouse
mural,
and
it
depicts
the
marine
life
that
once
inhabited
Charlotte
Harbor
back
in
the
early
days
of
our
community
and
in
order
to
move
forward
with
this
project,
we
need
FDOT
approval,
so
we
reached
out
to
Wyler
engineering
and
they
have
graciously
offered
to
complete
the
FDOT
community.
Aesthetic
features
application
for
this
mural
as
an
in-kind
donation
to
the
mural
society.

All
the
students
are
high

students,
our
youth,
it's
really
gonna
be
great,
so
it's
yeah
you'll,
keep
us
posted,
I
will
and
well.
I
have
not
said
a
lot
at
our
council
meetings
because
we've
been
keeping
things
under
wraps
and
so
after
the
media
event
on
September
13th,
which
I
hope
you
all
can
be.
There
then
we'll
be
giving
you
regular
updates,

Good
afternoon
harvey

punta

congratulate
nancy
and
the
council
and
the
pickle
plex
committee.
This
is
adds
an
incredible
new
dimension
to
our
community
I'm,
not
just
going
to
go
to
Charlotte,
County
and
I.
Think
it's
just
going
to
be
just
sensational
and
build
upon
it,
not
just
for
the
sport,
but
for
what
we'll
do
for
our
youth
and
and
everyone
in
this
community,
and
they
wouldn't
come
into
this
community,
so
I
think
it's
just
tremendous
I'm
glad
to
say
it
happened.
Thank
you.
Thank.
