A
Hello
city
of
puna
gorda,
this
is
pinagorda's
place
to
play
and
welcome
to
the
12th
video
update.
As
you
may
all
know,
wednesday
november
11th
is
veterans
day.
Because
of
that
we
wanted
to
take
the
time
to
show
you
how
our
city,
honors,
the
men
and
women
who
served
our
country
southwest
florida,
is
a
popular
retirement
area
and
many
veterans
choose
puna
gorda.
Before
puna
gorda
became
a
popular
retirement
destination,
it
was
home
to
the
puna
gorda
army
airfield,
which
trained
numerous
pilots
during
world
war
ii.
A
The
airfield
is
now
home
to
the
puna
gorda
airport
and
the
main
terminal
honors
hometown
heroes,
the
bayley
brothers,
the
city's
parks
also
honored
the
bailey
brothers,
who
grew
up
in
puna
gorda.
They
were
seven
african-american
brothers,
with
six
of
them
going
off
to
war
and
serving
in
world
war
ii.
The
bailey
brothers
park
was
built
in
2015
and
was
dedicated
to
the
seven
brothers.
The
community
park
allows
residents
a
common
setting
for
children
to
play
parents
to
talk
families
to
be
active
together
and
neighbors
to
enjoy
one
another.
A
In
addition
to
the
city's
parks.
There
are
many
private
organizations
that
honor
veterans
the
military
heritage
museum
first
opened
its
doors
to
the
public
and
fishermen's
village
on
pearl
harbor
day
2001..
The
goal
of
the
museum
then,
as
now,
was
to
honor
veterans
from
all
branches
and
eras
of
u.s
military
service
and
to
help
the
general
public
better
understand
the
contributions
and
various
experiences
of
american
servicemen
and
women
through
authentic
artifacts
and
individual
stories.
A
Some
private
organizations
have
partnered
with
the
city
to
improve
the
parks
and
honor.
Our
veterans
located
at
the
entrance
in
lashley
park
is
veterans.
Park
veterans
park
is
home
to
the
vietnam
memorial
wall.
The
park
also
includes
the
purple
heart
memorial,
donors
plaza
and
gazebo
ceremonial
plaza.
A
The
vietnam
veterans
memorial
stands
as
a
symbol
of
americans,
honor
and
recognition
of
the
men
and
women
who
served
and
sacrificed
their
lives
in
the
vietnam
war
and
scribes
on
the
black
granite
walls
are
the
names
of
more
than
58
000
men
and
women
who
gave
their
lives
or
remain
missing.
It
is
a
place
to
honor
the
courage,
sacrifice
and
devotion
to
duty
and
country
that
is
all
for
this
video
to
all
the
men
and
women
who
put
their
lives
on
the
line
for
this
country.
Thank
you
for
your
service.
