San Bruno Library Presents "Once Upon a Time" #8
"The Moon"
A
B
Hi
and
welcome
to
story
time
with
the
San
Bruno
library,
I'm,
miss,
Susan
and
I'll,
be
reading
you
stories
today.
We
have
lots
of
really
good
books
today,
including
most
of
them
are
going
to
be
about
the
moon.
When
we
look
up
in
the
sky
at
night
time,
we
can
see
the
moon
in
all
different
phases.
Sometimes
it's
big
and
round.
That's
a
full
moon,
and
sometimes
it's
really
small.
It's
a
crescent
moon.
So
we're
going
to
read
all
kinds
of
books
today
about
the
moon,
but
first,
let's
sing
our
welcome
song.
Okay!
B
Alright,
are
you
ready
to
clap,
I'm
glad
you're
here
today?
I'm
glad
you're
here
today,
heigh
ho
the
merry
oh
I'm
glad
you're
here
today,
that's
an
easy
song.
Isn't
it
so?
Let's
do
it
again
together,
clap
your
hands.
Are
you
ready?
Okay,
let's
go
I'm
glad
you're
here
today,
I'm
glad
you're
here
today,
hi
ho
the
merry
oh
I'm
glad
you're
here
today.
Oh
that
was
very
nice.
Thanks
for
singing
with
me.
Our
first
book
today
is
called
one
day
daddy
and
this
is
written
by
Frances.
B
B
B
Yes,
it
is
said:
little
monster,
you
see
daddy
if
I'm
an
explorer
I'll
have
to
leave
you
and
mommy
behind
well
said:
father
monster.
Maybe
we
could
come
with.
You
don't
be
silly
said
little
monster
explorers,
don't
take
their
mommies
and
daddies
along
with
them.
No
I
guess
not
said
father
monster.
So
where
will
you
explore.
B
B
B
B
Watch
out
for
all
those
Martians
said:
father
monster
there
aren't
any
Martians
said
little
monster.
Are
you
sure
about
that
asked
father
monster?
Of
course,
I
am
answered,
little
monster
well,
I'm
almost
sure
then
maybe
I'll
go
to
Jupiter.
Did
you
know
that
jupiter
has
16
moons,
that's
kind
of
greedy
of
Jupiter
said
father
monster
when
we
only
have
one
and
it
has
a
big
red
spots,
a
little
monster
and
nobody
knows
what's
in
it.
B
Maybe
a
big
red
dragon
said
father
monster
waiting
to
eat
you
up
well,
I
would
probably
try
to
avoid
him,
said
little
monster
and
then
I'll
go
to
Saturn
and
see
the
Rings.
Be
careful
that
you
don't
slide
off
said
father
monster,
then
maybe
I'll
look
for
a
meteor
shower,
make
sure
you
take
your
umbrella,
said
father
monster.
B
Won't
you
be
lonely,
there
asked
father
monster,
yes,
but
you
have
to
be
lonely
to
do
some
things
said
little
monster
and
will
you
come
back
to
us
one
day?
Oh
yes,
of
course,
I'll
come
back
daddy
the
end,
so
that
is
the
story.
One
day
daddy
by
Francis
Thomas.
That
little
monster
was
a
good
Explorer.
All
right
put
that
over
there
and
see
what
our
next
book
is
about.
This
one
is
called
bringing
down
the
moon.
Do
you
see
the
little
animal
on
the
front?
B
B
B
B
Mole
would
not
give
up.
I
know
he
thought
I'll
get
a
stick
and
poke
it
down.
He
found
a
long
stick
and
poked
it
up
at
the
moon,
swish
swish,
swish
swish
mole
was
so
busy
poking
that
he
tripped
over
hedgehog
in
his
bed
in
the
leaves
mol
grunted
Hedgehog.
What
the
weevil
are
you
up
to?
Oh
hello,
Hedgehog
said
mole
I'm,
trying
to
poke
down
the
moon.
You'll.
Never
do
that
said
Hedgehog,
it's
not
as
close
as
it
looks,
but.
B
Mole
would
not
give
up.
I
know
he
thought
I'll
throw
something
at
it
and
knock
it
down.
He
found
some
acorns
and
he
threw
them
at
the
moon,
bleep
Blanc,
but
Kenny
blink
ouch
said
squirrel
whoa,
have
you
gone
nuts?
Oh
hello
squirrel
said
mole
I'm
trying
to
knock
down
the
moon.
You'll.
Never
do
that
said
squirrel.
It's
not
as
close
as
it
looks,
but.
B
Mole
wanted
the
moon
so
badly.
He
would
not
give
up.
I
know
he
thought
I'll
climb
a
tree
and
carry
it
down.
Mole
had
never
climbed
a
tree
before
it
was
hard
work
and
he
was
scared
to
be
so
far
from
the
ground,
but
he
kept
going
until
he
saw
the
moon
resting
in
the
leaves
above
him,
Mall
stretched
out
his
paws,
but
just
when
he
thought
he
had
the
moon.
He
slipped
Oh
watch,
Oh
mol,
tumble
down
and
landed
splash
in
the
middle
of
a
puddle
all
the
way
down
there.
B
Hot
diggety
direct
thought
mole
I
almost
had
at
that
time.
Then
he
noticed
something
floating
in
the
puddle
beside
him.
It
was
pale
and
wrinkled,
but
mole
recognized
it
at
once.
The
moon
whispered
mole.
It
must
have
fallen
down
with
me.
He
reached
out
to
pick
up
the
moon,
but
as
soon
as
he
touched
it,
it
broke
into
pieces
and
vanished.
B
B
B
Mol
rabbit
and
hedgehog
and
squirrel
stood
and
stared
at
the
moon
together,
it's
beautiful
said
rabbit
very
beautiful,
said
Hedgehog
very
beautiful
indeed
said.
Squirrel
yes
said
mole,
but
it
is
not
as
close
as
it
looks
v
and
there's
mole
looking
up
at
the
moon,
enjoying
how
beautiful
it
is.
That
is
the
story
of
bringing
down
the
moon
by
Jonathan
Emmett.
That
was
a
good
story.
Let's
do
a
little
work
with
our
hands.
Can
you
hold
up
your
fingers?
B
Can
you
hold
up
four
fingers
we're
going
to
sing
a
little
song
or
do
a
little
hang
hand
play
about
stars
for
little
stars,
winking
at
me,
one
shot
off
and
then
there
were
three
three
little
stars
with
nothing
to
do
one
shot
off
and
then
there
were
two
two
little
stars
afraid
of
the
Sun
one
shot
off,
and
then
there
was
one
one
little
star
not
having
any
fun
one
shot
off,
and
then
there
were
none.
Oh,
that
was
very
good.
Thank
you
for
doing
that
with
me.
B
B
One
summer
night
bear
and
his
friend
little
bird
sat
down
to
watch
the
moon
after
a
little
wild
bird
said
I
think
I
feel
hungry.
Me
too
replied
bear
and
do
you
know
what
I
wish
I
wish
I
could
just
jump
up
and
take
a
bite
out
of
the
moon?
How
delicious
would
that
be?
How
do
you
know
trip
little
bird?
Maybe
the
moon
doesn't
taste
good.
Maybe
it
tastes
terrible.
B
B
Knew
that
wouldn't
work
said
little
bird.
The
moon
is
just
too
far
away.
What
you
need
is
a
rocket
ship,
then
I
shall
build.
One
said:
bear
the
very
next
day
bear
went
to
the
junkyard
and
bought
everything
that
he
thought
he
would
need
to
build
a
rocket
ship
all
summer.
Long
bare
and
little
bird
worked
and
worked,
but
when
the
fall
came
and
the
rocketship
was
still
not
finished,
he
didn't
know
what
to
do.
I
would
like
to
go
with.
B
You
said
little
bird,
but
winter
is
coming
and
I
must
fly
south
with
the
flock.
So
bare
and
little
birds
said
goodbye
when
it
began
to
get
cold
and
the
leaves
fell
off.
The
trees
bear
got
sleepy,
but
instead
of
climbing
into
bed
sleeping
through
the
winter,
he
kept
right
on
working.
He
worked
and
worked
and
worked
until
the
rocket
ship
was
finished.
B
B
Bear
had
never
been
awake
in
the
winter
before
when
he
opened
his
eyes
and
saw
all
the
snow
he
thought
he
was
on
the
moon.
He
climbed
out
of
his
rocket
ship
scooped
up
some
of
the
snow
and
made
a
little
moon
cake.
Then
he
tasted
it.
It
tasted
like
something
he
had
had
before,
but
he
wasn't
quite
sure
what
it
was.
B
B
These
paw
prints
are
too
big
to
belong
to
a
moon
house
or
even
a
moon
raccoon
thought
there.
Maybe
they
were
made
by
a
moon
bear
or
perhaps
he
shuddered
a
terrible
moon
monster
bear
felt
scared.
He
ran
back
to
his
rocket
ship
and
prepared
for
takeoff
and
he
began
the
countdown
10
9
8
7,
6
50
and
again
he
fell
asleep.
This
time
he
slept
until
spring.
B
One
day
his
friend
little
bird
returned
and
woke
him
up.
How
was
everything
down
south
fast
bear?
Just
fine
said
little
bird,
did
you
go
to
the
moon,
I
sure
did
said
bear
and
how
did
the
moon
taste
asked
little
bird?
Was
it
terrible,
no
replied
there?
It
was
delicious
the
end
and
that
is
moon
cake
by
Frank
ash.
We're
going
to
take
a
little
break
right
now.
Hope
you
come
back,
see
you
soon.
B
Welcome
back
to
story
time
with
Miss,
Susan
I'm,
so
glad
you
came
back
to
hear
some
more
stories
about
the
moon.
We
have
three
more
stories
to
listen
to
and
the
next
one
is
called
what
is
the
full
moon
full
of
that's
a
good
question:
do
you
ever
look
up
in
the
sky
and
wonder
to
yourself
what's
up
there?
What
is
the
moon
made
of
well
we're
going
to
find
out
in
this
book
by
shulamith
levy,
oppenheim
and
Sid
more.
B
B
They
go
outside.
Jonas
looks
up
what
is
the
full
moon
full
of?
He
asks
Nana.
Just
then
a
red
squirrel
scampers
by
what
do
you
think
the
full
moon
is
full
of
Jonas
asked
the
red
squirrel
nuts,
the
red
squirrel
answers
his
cheeks
bulging
with
acorns
nuts,
of
course,
look
at
all
those
lumps
and
bumps
nuts.
Of
course,
a.
B
B
B
B
B
B
B
B
What
do
you
think
the
full
moon
is
full
of?
Well
that's
a
very
interesting
answer.
Maybe
the
full
moon
is
full
of
that.
We'll
have
to
keep
looking
up
in
the
sky
at
night
and
see
if
we
can
figure
that
out
what
is
the
full
moon
full
of
by
shulamith
levy,
oppenheim
and
Sid
more.
Our
last
book
today
is
called
happy
birthday
moon
by
Frank
ash.
Do
you
recognize
that
bear
that
bear
was
in
our
other
book
about
moon,
cakes,
he's
fascinated
by
the
moon.
B
Happy
birthday,
moon
by
Frank
ash
one
night
bear
looked
up
at
the
sky
and
thought:
wouldn't
it
be
nice
to
give
the
moon
a
birthday
present,
but
bear
didn't
know
when
the
Bert,
when
the
moon's
birthday
was
or
what
to
get
him.
So
he
climbed
a
tall
tree
to
have
a
little
chat
with
the
moon,
hello,
moon,
he
shouted,
but
the
moon
did
not
reply.
B
B
Now
I
am
much
closer
to
the
moon
thought
there
and
again
he
shouted
hello.
This
time
his
own
voice
echoed
off
one
of
the
other
mountains.
Hello
bear
got
so
excited,
oh
boy,
he
thought
I'm
talking
to
the
moon.
Tell
me
asked
bear.
When
is
your
birthday?
Tell
me:
when
is
your
birthday
replied
the
moon?
B
Well,
it
just
so
happens
that
my
birthday
is
tomorrow
said,
bear
well
it
just
so
happens.
My
birthday
is
tomorrow,
said
the
moon.
What
do
you
want
for
your
birthday
asked
bear?
What
do
you
want
for
your
birthday?
Asked
the
moon
bear
thought
for
a
moment
and
then
he
replied.
I
would
like
a
hat
I
would
like
a
hat
said,
the
moon,
oh
good.
He
thought
there
now
I
know
what
to
get
the
moon
for
his
birthday.
B
B
Then
he
went
downtown
and
bought
the
moon,
a
beautiful
hat
there.
It
is
that
night
he
put
the
hat
up
in
a
tree
where
the
moon
could
find
it,
and
then
he
waited
and
watched.
While
the
moon
slowly
crept
up
through
the
branches
and
tried
on
the
Hat.
First
it
was
low
and
then
it
was
higher
and
then
higher
and
then
the
Hat
was
on
the
moon,
hooray
yelled
bear
it
fits
just
right.
B
B
But
it
got
away
that
night
bear
paddled
across
the
river
and
hiked
through
the
forest
to
talk
with
the
moon
for
a
long
time.
The
moon
would
not
speak
to
him.
So
bear
spoke
first,
hello,
he
shouted
hello,
replied.
The
moon,
I
lost,
the
beautiful
hat
you
gave
me
said:
bear
I
lost
the
beautiful
hat
you
gave
me
said
the
moon,
that's
okay,
I
still
love!
You
said,
bear
that's:
okay,
I
still
love!
You
said
the
moon,
happy
birthday,
sit
there
happy
birthday,
said
the
moon
the
end,
and
that
is
happy
birthday
moon.
B
What
was
bear
hearing?
He
was
hearing
his
own
voice.
It
was
an
echo,
wasn't
really
the
moon
talking
to
him,
but
he
had
fun
anyway.
Didn't
he
that's
our
last
story.
Happy
birthday,
moon
by
Frank
ash,
so
we're
ready
for
our
goodbye
song
today.
Are
you
ready?
Do
you
remember
this
from
the
other
story
times
we
wave
our
hands?
Oh
it's
time
to
say
goodbye
to
our
friends.
Oh
it's
time
to
say
goodbye
to
our
friends.
Oh
it's
time
to
say
goodbye,
make
a
smile
and
wave
goodbye.
