Storytime #21: Pirate Stories
with Miss Barbara
A
B
Seas
on
a
cricket,
II
old
ship
called
the
salty
carrot,
sailed
a
wild
rowdy
band
of
Buccaneer
bunnies.
They
were
bad
bad
bunnies.
Alright,
when
pirates
on
other
ships
saw
their
long
floppy
ears
and
their
fluffy
white
tails.
They
shook
with
fear
the
captain
of
the
salty
carrot
was
barnacle
black
year,
the
baddest
bunny,
brute
of
all
time.
Black
ear
was
proud
of
his
wooden
paw,
his
golden
earrings
and
his
mean
reputation.
What
black
ear
was
not
proud
of
was
a
son
Henry.
Instead
of
performing
his
proper
pirating
duties.
A
Shout
shiver
me:
timbers
black
ear
ordered
I'd
rather
finish.
This
chapter
said
Henry
make
this
prisoner
walk
the
blank
can't
I
just
read
about
it.
Asked
Henry
find
yourself
a
parrot
for
your
shoulder.
First
I
need
to
read
up
on
parent
care,
said
Henry
buccaneer
bunnies,
don't
need
books,
toss
them
overboard.

A
B
Did
as
he
was
told,
but
he
kept
his
little
pink
eyes
on
the
skies
when
he
saw
the
rats
abandoning
ship.
He
started
packing
up
his
books
in
empty
treasure.
Chests
the
storm
started
small,
a
few
low
grumbles
of
thunder
a
spike
of
lightning.
Then
suddenly,
a
crashing
bashing
thrashing
wildcat
of
a
hurricane
broke
loose.
It
shook
the
ship.
B
Slashed
the
sails
damaged
the
deck
and
ripped
up
the
rickety
old,
salty
carrot.
All
that
was
left
floating
on
the
choppy
waters
were
a
bunch
of
soggy
bunnies
and
Henry's
cheddar
treasure
chests
filled
with
books
when
the
storm
finally
calmed
down
black
here.
Henry
and
the
rest
of
the
Buccaneers
paddled
to
the
nearest
island
were
ruined.
A
B
B
It's
all
from
them.
Landlubbing
books
said
black

shaking
his
head:
Henry
taught
black
ear
in
The,
Buccaneer
bunnies,
all
kinds
of
useful
things
like
how
to
plant
carrots
make
the
best
sand
castles
and
build
boats
out
of
palm
fronds.
Soon
they
built
a
new
ship
which
they
sailed
to
the
library
at
the
nearby
Easter
islands.
Every
summer.
Here
the
bunny
spent
many
happy
hours,
slurping
seaweed
stew
and
reading
books,
aye
Buccaneer.

Hoped
the
pirate
spell
would
wear
off.
He
went
out
to
play
an
hour
later.
He
came
home
yikes.
He
cried
a
pirate
flag,
flew
over
his
house.
Pirate
mom
stood
in
the
yard.
She
wore
an
eye
patch
and
a
pirate
headscarf
Pete's
parrot
sat
on
her
shoulder.
Pirate
mom
switched
a
wooden
spoon
at
the
mailman.
Our

pirate

the
pot
parent
said:
Pete
Pete
dragged
pirate
mom
inside
now.
Pete
was
really
worried.
His
had
a
job
she
couldn't
go
to
work
with
an
eyepatch
in
a
pirate
scarf.
B
A
B
Him
they
had
come
for
a
PTA
meeting.
There
was
a
crash
in
the
kitchen.
What
was
that
asked
a
man
pirate
mom
burst
through
the
door?
She
waved
a
frying
pan
in
the
air
yo-ho-ho.
She
said.
Give
me
your
loot.
Who
am
I,
said
the
people
Pete
thought
fast
again
long
thinks
you
should
have
a
costume
party.
Pete
said
it's
a
good
way
to
raise
money
for
our
school.
A
The
people
I
said
the
parrot
said
pirate
mom.
B
Pete
had
to
find
the
amazing
Marco,
Marco's
wife
had
just
had
a
baby,
so
Pete
took
pirate
mom
to
the
hospital.
He
asked
a
nurse
where
the
amazing
Marco
was
no
pirates
said
the
nurse
wait
here.
Pete
told
pirate
mom.
The
amazing
Marco
was
with
his
new
son
that
the
fabulous
Harold
come
quick
Pete
said
my
mom.
B
B
Are
doctors
they
said
Pete
turned
to
the
amazing
Marco
I
like
pirates
Pete
said,
but
it
is
hard
having
a
pirate
for
a
mom
who
dear
said
Marco
I
am
very
sorry,
Marco
snuck
up
on
pirate
mom,
he
told
her.
She
was
getting
sleepy.
He
told
her.
It
was
time
to
be
Pete's
mom
again
he
collapsed
his
hands.
She
woke
up.
Where
are
we?
What
happened
said?
Pete's
mom
Marco
turned
you
into
a
pirate
said:
Pete,
don't
be
silly
said:
Pete's
mom
she
bumped
into
a
wheelchair.
B
Maybe
you
should
take
off
your
eyepatch
Pete
said
Pete's
mom
put
her
hand
on
her
face.
She
felt
her
eyepatch.
Oh
my
she
whispered
the
next
day.
Pete
found
a
letter
under
the
door.
It
was
from
the
amazing
Marco
his
mom
read
the
letter.
Sorry
for
all
the
trouble.
Please
accept
this
gift.
Two
bits
of
paper
fell
out.
A
Said
Pete
said
the
parrot,
and
that
is
the
story
of
pirate
mom.
So
don't
go
away,
we're
gonna
have
a
break
and
then
I'll
be
right
back
with
another
pirate
story,
we'll
see
you
then.
A
I'm
going
to
teach
you
a
rhyme
about
the
ocean,
it
goes
like
this
here.
Is
the
boat
so
make
your
boat
with
your
hands?
Here's
the
here's
the
boat
here
is
the
sea.
Here
are
the
waves,
and
here
is
me,
and
then
you
have
your
little
fishes
all
of
the
fishes
down
below
wiggle
their
tails
and
away.
They
go
just
like
that.
Okay,
let's
see
what
our
next
pirate
book
is.
Aha,
how
I
became.
A
B
Pirates
have
a
green
teeth
when
they
have
any
teeth
at
all.
I
know
about
pirates,
because
one
day
when
I
was
at
the
beach
building
a
sandcastle
and
minding
my
own
business,
a
pirate
ship
sailed
into
view.
I
knew
what
it
was,
because
the
flag
had
a
skull
and
crossbones
on
it
and
because
I
could
hear
the
pirate
singing
hey
ho
blow
the
man
down.
They
were
a
little
off-key
I
tried
to
tell
Dad,
but
he
was
busy
setting
up
the
beach
umbrella.
I
tried
to
tell
mom,
but
she
was
busy
slathering.
B
B
To
boot
the
others
agreed
what
be
your
name
matey,
the
head.
Pirate
asked
Jeremy
Jacobs,
sir
I
told
him
well
Jeremy
Jacob,
he
said
you're
looking
at
braid-beard
and
his
crew
we've
been
needing
a
digger.
Like
yourself,
we
have
a
chest
of
treasure
to
bury
I
treasure
the
others
shouted
you're
coming
with
us,
braid-beard
told
me,
I,
didn't
think
mom
and
dad
would.
B
A
B
B
By
now
it
was
past
my
bedtime,
but
nobody
tells
pirates
when
to
go
to
bed
to
take
a
bath
or
to
brush
their
teeth.
I
mean
that's
why
their
teeth
are
green
pirates,
sleep
with
one
eye
open
just
in
case,
and
they
don't
change
into
pajamas
unless
they
want
to
pirates,
don't
do
anything
they
want
to,
except
for
maybe
swabbing.
A
B
A
B
B
B
B
B
Lightning
hit
the
mast
and
split
it
right
down
the
middle.
What
do
we
do
now?
Yelled
one
of
the
Pirates
will
have
to
turn
back
yelled
and
but
the
treasurer
hollered
braid-beard.
Where
will
we
bury
the
treasure
I
stepped
forward?
Maybe
I
can
help
I
shout
it
over.
The
wind
I
think
I
know
the
perfect
digging
spot
when
the
storm
was
over.
We
rode
back
to
shore
and
buried
chests.
We
drew
a
map,
so
we
could
find
the
treasure
again,
but
I
don't
think
I'll
need
it.
It
says:
Jeremy
Jacobs
backyard,.
A
B
Once
Edward
learned
to
read,
there
was
no
stopping
him
cereal
boxes
that
at
the
breakfast
table
and
catalogs
that
arrived
on
the
coldest
day
of
winter,
the
inscription
on
the
monument
in
the
town,
square
and
books,
all
kinds
of
books,
Edward,
especially
liked
stories
of
adventure.
When
he
read
about
Admiral
Peary
racing
by
dog
sled
to
the
North
Pole
Edward
was
right
alongside
comforting
the
brave
dogs
and
urging
them
on
when
he
read
that
the
bold
outlaw
Robin
Hood
was
surrounded
by
the
evil
sheriff
of
Nottingham's
men.
B
Of
a
battle-axe,
sometimes
what
Edward
read
seemed
to
become
real
once
when
he
was
reading
a
book
about
dinosaurs,
he
was
convinced
he
saw
a
Tyrannosaurus
Rex
outside
his
window.
Next
to
home,
the
library
was
Edward's
favorite
place.
He
had
his
own
library
card
and
could
borrow
all
the
books
he
could
carry
one
day,
Edward
found
a
book
lying
on
a
shelf
behind
some
other
books.
The
book
was
old
and
covered
with
dust.
Edward
blew
away
the
dust
and
read
the
title
last
pirate
treasure
he
sat
down
and
began
to
read.
B
Some
pirate
treasure
has
never
been
found.
Edward
was
still
reading
when
he
felt
someone
tap
him
on
the
shoulder.
It
was
mrs.
Torres,
the
librarian
time
to
go
Edward.
She
said
the
library
will
be
closing
soon.
Edward
checked
out
the
book
and
walked
home
arriving
just
in
time
for
supper.
That
night
Edward
went
to
bed
early
taking
his
book
with
him.
B
When
the
pirate
ship
was
being
tossed
about
on
stormy
seas,
it
was
Edward
who
bravely
took
them
some
time
in
the
night,
Edward
felt
his
bed
being
bumped
Edward
sat
up
and
looked
around
and
saw
he
was
surrounded
by
pirates.
What
are
you
pirates
doing
in
my
room?
He
demanded
we've
come
for
that
book
answered
the
pirate
who
seemed
to
be
the
leader.
We
think
it
tells
where
our
treasure
is
buried.
I
can't
give
it
to
you.
Edward
said
it's
checked
out
on
my
library
card.
You'll
have
to
wait
till
I
return
it.
B
The
Pirates
begged,
but
Edward-
wouldn't
change
his
mind.
They
pleaded
but
Edward
folded
his
arms
around
the
book
and
shook
his
head
nope.
They
even
promised
him
a
share
of
treasure,
but
that
wouldn't
work
either
you'll
have
to
walk
the
plank
threatened
the
Pirates,
but
Edward
stood
firm.
Finally,
one
of
the
Pirates
do
his
sword
and
waved
it
over
Edwards
head
handed
over
here.
Orde,
but
Edward
wouldn't
budge
better,
be
quiet.
B
He
warned
the
Pirates
or
you'll
wake
my
mom
and
dad
Edward
had
just
finished
speaking
when
the
door
to
his
room
burst
open
and
someone
riding
a
huge
white
horse
charged
in
it
was
Edwards
mother.
She
was
dressed
in
a
shining
suit
of
armor
and
was
carrying
a
Lance.
She
pinned
the
sword
waving
pirate
to
the
wall,
but
then
the
other
pirates
drew
their
swords
and
closed
in
for
the
attack.
B
B
B
Said,
sadly,
we
can't
read,
you
can't
read,
said
Edward,
not
one
word
answered
the
pirate.
None
of
us
can
I'll
read
it
to.
You
then
said
Edward.
That
is,
if
it's
all
right
with
my
mom
and
dad
it
was
but
don't
stay
up
too
late.
Edwards
mother
told
him
firmly
and
close
the
window
when
you
leave
said
Edwards
father
to
the
Pirates
and
his
mother.
As
mother
and
father
left
the
room
and
went
back
to
bed
Edward
opened
the
book
and
began
to
read
aloud.
Some
pirate
treasure
has.
