She
lined
them
up
on
the
warm
radiator
to
dry
and
blue
kangaroo
noticed
that
someone
was
missing
now.
What
shall
we
do?
Blue
kangaroo,
a
silly
I
wonder
what
daddy
is
doing
her
father
was
trying
to
get
the
baby
to
stop
crying
Oh
Lilly.
He
said
what
shall
we
do?
I'll
read
to
him
said
Lilly.
Can
you
read
all
by
yourself
asked
her
father?
Yes,
said
Lilly
all
by
myself.
B
B
But
Lily
had
fallen
asleep,
so
she
said
nothing
when
the
house
was
quiet,
blue
kangaroo,
hopped
out
of
bed
I'll
just
have
to
rescue
him
all
by
myself.
He
thought
it
was
dark
and
still
raining,
but
blue
kangaroo
found
tiny
teddy.
He
dragged
him
across
the
garden
and
pulled
him
through
the
cat
flap.
Then
he
propped
him
up
against
the
radiator
to
dry.
B
When
Lily
woke
up
in
the
morning,
she
found
a
wet
kangaroo
beside
her.
What
have
you
been
doing
blue
kangaroo?
She
asked
it
was
only
when
she
went
downstairs
that
she
realized
what
had
happened.
Oh
poor,
tiny
Teddy
said
Lily
Lily,
kissed
blue
kangaroos,
damp
nose,
you
are
clever,
blue
kangaroo
said
Lily.
What
would
I
do
without
you?
B
B
It
makes
me
feel
very
small,
said
Jonathan
to
Frederick,
sorry,
I,
don't
know
it
makes
me
feel
very
small,
said
Jonathan
to
Frederick.
He
held
Frederick
up
so
high,
so
he
could
see
the
big
blue
boat
Jonathan
loved,
the
big
blue
boat.
He
and
Frederick
would
stay
at
the
old
Wharf
till
sunset.
Looking
up
at
its
rusty
blue
hole.
B
B
Ahoy
called
the
gray-haired
tugboat
captain.
Why
so
sad,
Jonathan
side
Frederick
is
missing.
He
could
be
anywhere
in
the
whole
world.
By
now,
the
seagulls
made
a
lonely
sound
over
the
harbour.
A
long
time
ago,
the
captain
said
the
big
blue
boat
sailed
all
over
the
world.
My
tugboat
worked
very
hard
in
those
days
standing
in
the
shadow
of
the
big
blue
boat
Jonathan
had
an
idea
before
long.
The
big
blue
boat
was
steaming
like
a
tea
kettle.
The
tugboat
pulled
it
out
past
the
boys
and
into
the
open
ocean.
B
B
Storm
gathered
on
the
high
seas
all
through
the
night,
the
big
blue
boat
rocked
back
and
forth
on
the
tall
waves.
When
the
morning
came,
the
boat
was
marooned,
hello,
said:
Jonathan,
a
mountain
goat
I
am
looking
for
a
bear
named
Frederick,
the
goat
was
startled.
He
had
never
met
a
sea
captain
before
I've,
never
met
a
bear
before
said
the
goat,
but
someday
I
would
like
to
Jonathan.
Looked
up.
I
could
use
a
first
mate
he
offered,
but
my
boat
is
stuck
the
goat
wagged,
his
chin
thoughtfully.
B
B
That
is
how
Jonathan
and
a
mountain
goat
came
to
sail
the
sea
on
a
big
blue
boat
circus
tents
appeared
in
the
distance
full
steam
ahead,
said
Jonathan
to
the
goat
on
shore.
The
circus
was
deserted,
except
for
an
elephant.
We're
looking
for
a
bear
named
Frederick
said
Jonathan
I'm,
the
only
one
here,
the
elephant
replied.
He
lowered
his
trunk
I've
grown
too
old
for
the
circus.
The
elephant
looked
very
sad
and
very
wise.
We
could
use
an
experienced
traveler
said
Jonathan.
B
The
goat
wielded
his
horns:
the
elephant
stood
on
his
hind
legs
waving,
his
tucks
tests
in
the
air
fire,
the
pirate
captain,
yelled
ker-blam,
the
captain
was
so
startled
by
the
sound
of
his
own
cannons.
He
yelled
retreat
that
big
blue
boat
began
to
sink.
Oh,
no,
cried
the
goat,
we're
shipwrecked,
moan,
the
elephant's
man,
the
lifeboats,
ordered
Jonathan.
Just
then
a
whale
I'm
up
from
under
the
fray,
balancing
the
big
blue
boat
on
the
length
of
its
back.
He
said
in
a
deep,
slow
whale
voice.
B
B
B
I'll
watch
the
ship
said
the
whale
the
others
spent
the
day
bear
hunting
in
train
stations
and
alleyways.
They
rode
taxi,
cabs
and
elevators
and
talked
to
pigeons
along
the
way.
Frederick
was
nowhere
to
be
found.
Where
will
we
look
now
asked
the
elephant
a
light
flickered
on
in
a
shop
window,
we'll
try
here
said
Jonathan.
B
Inside
the
shop
was
cluttered
but
cheerful,
hello,
said
a
little
girl
from
behind
the
counter.
In
her
arms
she
was
holding
Fred
RAGBRAI
Jonathan.
Oh
he's
not
for
sale,
said
the
little
girl
I
traded
a
toaster
for
this
bear.
He
is
my
best
friend
I,
wouldn't
go
anywhere
without
him.
Jonathan
smiled.
After
all,
a
big
boat
needs,
a
big
crew.
A
B
A
In
1988,
our
dear
friend,
Paul
Newman
had
a
vision,
a
place
where
kids
with
serious
illnesses
could
just
be
kids,
so
he
found
at
a
camp
and
the
joy
of
playing
laughing
and
simply
belonging
had
a
profound
effect,
freeing
the
children
to
reach
beyond
their
illnesses
and
discover
new
strength
from
that
one
camp.
The
serious
fund
children's
network
has
grown
serving
30,000
kids
globally
every
year
at
no
cost
to
their
families.
Please
help
us
continue,
Paul's
vision.
Is
it
serious

B
The
second
half
of
the
show,
my
next
book
in
this
series
about
children
and
their
stuffed
animals
is
called
red,
is
a
dragon,
and
this
isn't
about
a
whole
story
about
a
teddy
bear,
but
you
can
find
the
teddy
bear
so
pay
attention
to
where
the
teddy
bear
shows
up
in
here.
Red
is
a
dragon,
a
book
of
colors.
This
is
written
by
Rosenthal
and
illustrated
by
Grace
Lin
she's,
one
of
my
favorite
illustrators.
B
B
It
is
called
siesta
which
means
nap
in
Spanish,
and
this
is
a
book
that's
written
in
English
and
in
Spanish,
so
first
I'm
going
to
read
the
Spanish
words
and
then
I'm
going
to
say
the
exact
same
thing
in
English,
okay.
So
this
book
is
by
Jinger
Foglesong
guy
pictures
by
Rene
King
Marino,
and
you
can
find
this
book
with
our
spanish
books
at
the
san
bruno
library.
B
A
B
B
B
At
bedtime,
Charlie
put
Basques
Baxter
in
his
basket.
He
gave
Baxter
a
goodnight
kiss.
Then
he
went
upstairs
Baxter
closed
his
eyes
and
tried
to
sleep
in
his
basket
on
top
of
his
basket
under
his
basket
over
the
side
of
its
basket.
He
even
tried
leaning
against
his
basket,
but
it
was
no
good.
He
just
could
not
sleep.
He
had
to
go
upstairs
and
find
Charlie,
but
every
time
Baxter
tried
to
climb
the
stairs
he
tumbled
back
down.
B
But
this
time
charlie
didn't
wake
up.
He
was
fast
asleep,
so
Baxter
wobbled
and
stumbled
up
the
stairs
until
he
reached
the
top.
He
pushed
open
Charlie's
door
with
his
nose.
Baxter
gave
Charlie's
blanket
a
little
tug.
He
put
his
wet
nose
in
Charlie's
hand.
He
even
licked
off
one
of
Charlie's
ears
until
Charlie
woke
up
because
Baxter
didn't
want
a
blanket
or
a
teddy
or
a
pacifier.
B
B
Good
night
Baxter
said
Charlie
and
they
both
fell
fast,
asleep,
that's
good
night
Baxter,
so
I
have
one
little
story
left
it's
called
dog
and
bear
two
friends,
three
stories
by
Laura,
Vaquero
seeker
and
I.
Think
I
will
just
read
you
one
of
these
stories
and
you
can
read
the
other
one.
When
you
come
to
the
library.
B
B
B
A
B
You
know
that
all
of
these
books
are
from
the
San
Bruno
library,
and
did
you
know
that
we
have
story
time
on
Monday
nights
on
Tuesdays
and
Thursdays
every
single
week,
I
hope
someday
I
can
see
you
in
person
at
story
time
at
the
library
and
I
would
love
to
help.
You
find
out
some
books
that
you
would
like
some
story,
books
or
some
fact
books,
maybe
you'd
like
to
read
about
animals
and
sharks
or
more
teddy
bear
books.
I'll
see.
You
then
talk
to
you
soon.
