San Bruno Farmers' Market PSA 2013
trt 5:20
Come visit the Farmers Market!
A
My
name
is
Michael
Salazar
I'm,
a
member
of
the
San
Bruno
city
council
and
I'm
out
here
today,
at
the
opening
day
for
our
farmers
market,
which
is
opening
for
the
summer
season,
and
we're
really
excited
to
have
it
back
downtown.
This
year
we
took
a
little
hiatus
and
tried
it
at
the
mall
last
year
and
had
limited
success
there,
but
we're
really
happy
to
have
it
back
downtown.
The
produce
here
is
produced
locally
and
if
you
buy
local
produce,
you're
actually
doing
a
lot
for
the
environment.
A
Because
not
only
are
we
not
shipping,
these
products
across
the
planet
you're
actually
getting
something.
That's
that's
grown
locally
you're,
not
incurring
the
carbon
footprint
from
having
to
transport.
You
know
the
produce
from
from
different
parts
of
the
country
or
different
parts
of
the
world
and
you're
you're
helping
the
local
economy,
because
these
are
all
local
farmers
and
they're,
bringing
their
products
up
here
and
you're,
getting
them
fresh
right
from
the
farm.
So.
B
My
name
is
Tina
Lovecchio
I
work
for
web
ranch,
which
is
a
family
farm
in
Portola,
Valley,
we're
right
off
a
280
and
alpine
road.
We've
been
there
since
nineteen
twenty-two
currently
have
five
generations
of
webs
living
on
ranch
property,
and
we
have
approximately
a
hundred
acres
of
California
certified
organic
farming
going
on
there.
We
grow
Bush,
berries
which
I
have
today
the
oh
lolli,
berries,
raspberries
coming
in
July,
we'll
see
some
corn
tomatoes
and
a
few
other
berries.
My.
C
Name
is
Jan
Taylor
I
work
with
West
Coast
farmers,
market
association,
we're
the
operator
of
the
new
San
Bruno
certified
farmers
market
here
on
san
mateo
avenue
and
down
san
bruno
West
Coast
Farmers
Market
Association
is
a
new
Association,
we're
about
two
years
old,
we're
growing,
rapidly
we're
specializing
in
smaller
markets,
smaller
neighborhood
markets
that
neighborhood
that
communities
really
adopt
as
their
own.
We
have
several
categories
in
our
market,
so
you'll
see
a
bunch
of
different
things.
C
Of
course
you
have
the
certified
farmers
market,
which
is
going
to
be
fruits
and
vegetables
and
berries
and
honey
and
flowers
and
plants,
and
then
we
also
have
other
vendors
here.
It
would
be
called
our
food
purveyors,
and
so
we
have
prepackaged
food.
So
we
have
hummus.
We
have
a
Dolce
Cecilia
here
with
their
biscotti
and
we
have
toffee
here
today.
We
also,
then
also
have
artisans
here
will
make
their
stuff
that
they're
selling-
and
we
also
have
a
few
of
the
chamber
booths
or
local
businesses-
come
out
to
market
their
business
to
the
community.
C
D
C
C
So
this
is
a
these
markets
are
very
special
for
that
they're,
also
very
instrumental
in
providing
for
a
sustainable
livelihood
for
small
family
farms,
and
indeed,
since
the
inception
of
farmers
markets,
we've
seen
a
growth
in
small
family
farms
that
people
can
actually
make
a
living
on
a
small
family
farm
and
they
don't
have
to
be
thousands
of
acres
of
corporate
farming.
Well,.

F
My
name
is
Jerry
la
me:
I'm,
the
executive
director
of
West
Coast
farmers
markets.
We've
got
a
very
great
great
start.
The
communities
out
here
supporting
us
and
watch
us
grow
we're
gonna,
we're
going
to
add
more
vendors.
Next
week
we've
we
had
a
couple
of
people
that
the
the
opening
today
came
came
a
little
bit
too
quick
for
him.
So
we
look
to
all
to
bring
in
more
vegetables
next
week.
We're
gonna
have
a
kettle
corn
person
I'm
looking
for
bakers
and
honey
people
right
now
and
cut
flowers.
