Once
again
good
evening
and
welcome
should
know
by
the
entire
city,
council
and
quite
a
entourage
of
city
staff,
we
all
care
a
lot
about
you.
Has
it
been
five
years
or
five
hours
or
five
minutes
at
any
time
of
day?
It's
all
of
these,
the
recollections
that
sometimes
startled
and
shocked
and
lasts
for
a
moment
at
just
the
hint
of
a
certain
sound
and
other
times,
memories
didn't
linger
for
hours
and
our
efforts
to
rebuild
a
process
that,
in
its
inherent
nature,
has
taken
too
long.
A
I
reflect
on
that
evening,
when
our
residents
were
rushing
away
from
this
neighborhood
now
on
any
given
day,
I
see
people
coming
back
to
new
homes
and
the
expectation
of
a
new
life,
but
with
the
never
ending
recollection
of
what
happened
here
in
our
efforts
to
make
sure
what
happened
here
never
happens
again
anywhere.
We
have
traveled
near
and
far
sometimes
blocked
by
the
very
entities
that
caused
this
tragedy
and
should
and
could
have
prevented
it
to
have
to
fight,
for
what
is.
A
Ours
is
frustrating
to
say
the
least,
but
we
need
to
keep
up
the
fight
because
something
good
has
to
come
from
all
of
this.
We
owe
that
to
those
that
perished
and
suffered.
It
is
our
legacy
to
keep
the
humanity
of
this
event
and
moment
paramount
in
our
efforts
going
forward.
What
you
see
here
is
not
only
neighborhood
being
brought
back,
but
people
rebuilding
their
lives
for
LaVon,
Greg,
William,
James,
jacqueline,
janessa,
Jessica
and
Elizabeth.
We
owe
this
to
you.
We
still
thirst
for
the
words
that
will
soothe
our
emotions
and
we
will
never
forget.

as
we
gather
on
this
fifth
anniversary
to
remember
that
faithful
day,

2010
a
day
that
Don
golden,
and
oh
so
beautiful
a
day
when
I
went
out
my
door
to
take
a
walk
on
this
neighborhood
I
stopped
to
greet
mrs.
Torres
standing
right
here
on
the
sidewalk
with
her
little
dog.

We
chatted
for
a
few
minutes
and
then
I
turned
and
waved
goodbye
on
my
way
back,
I
paused
for
a
moment
at
the
park
at
the
corner
of
world
and
glenview
to
admire
the
swings
and
the
red
merry-go-round,
I
felt
very
warm,
so
I
took
off
my
jacket.
Looking
up,
I
saw
a
flock
of
birds,
flooding
atop,
the
tall
trees,
a
dog
howled
early
in
the
distance
I
was
unaware
of
the
danger
lurking
there
getting
closer
and
closer
getting
ready
to
erupt
sitting
in
my
living
room
around
6-10
p.m.

that
evening,
boom
quake,
like
the
danger,
did
erupt
a
win
like
I
cyclone
kept
me
from
opening
my
door,
so
I
ran
to
the
window
and
looked
out
to
unimaginable
horror,
angry
orange
red
flames.
Five
to
eight
stories,
high
is
what
I
saw
the
heat
became,
so
unbearable.
I
was
unable
to
breathe,
so
I
ran
through
my
backyard
and
I
climbed
a
tall
fence,
but
then
I
got
trapped
in
my
neighbor's
backyard.

Five
years
have
passed
with
neighbors,
helping
neighbors
in
memories
and
grief
helping
to
erase
yet
there
is
much
each
one
of
us
can
try
to
do
so
that
a
man-made
tragedy
like
this
does
not
happen
again
to
those
who
left
us.
You're
not
forgotten,
continue
to
rest
in
peace
to
those
here
today,
I
call
upon
you
to
say
I
love
you
to
your
family
and
friends
and
once
again,
let
us
all
together
thank
the
San
Bruno
firemen
and
the
policemen
and
the
first
responders
to
came
to
our
aid
on
that
fateful
day.
