Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting January 26, 2010 12. Report from Council Member Salazar on his Attendance at the League of CA Cities New Mayors & Councilmember Academy.
A
B
You
mayor
Lane
I
had
the
pleasure
last
week
of
attending
the
new
mayors
and
council
members
Academy,
and
it's
a
workshop,
that's
put
on
by
the
League
of
California
cities.
Those
of
you
that
tuned
in
last
week
remember
that
SEBI
Richardson
was
here
to
tell
us
about
some
of
the
activities
that
the
league
is
involved
in
this.
B
This
workshop
is
one
of
those
one
of
those
things
that
we
get
from
the
league
and
it
is
a
three
day
long
workshop
that
provides
basically
all
of
the
background
information
that
people
that
are
new
to
City
Council
would
require,
and
it
was
attended
by
probably
a
hundred
new
and
existing
mayors
and
council
people
from
across
the
state,
and
it
was
actually
very,
very
informative.
I
wanted
to
touch
on
just
a
few
of
the
highlights
of
on
some
of
the
workshops.
There
were
about
a
dozen
separate
modules
that
were
included.
B
One
of
the
first
ones
was
regarding
legal
powers
and
again
that
there
are
a
lot
of
a
lot
of
restrictions
on
what
council
people
can
and
can't
do
and
I
know.
My
colleagues
here
make
it
all
look
really
easy,
but
there
are
a
million
things
that
you
need
to
know,
so
it
was
very
enlightening
also,
especially
as
we
go
through
budget.
B
B
B
Rewarding
to
see
the
the
representation
that
we
have
from
across
the
state
because
of
the
people
that
were
there,
the
spend
I
mean
there
were
men
and
women
from
across
the
state.
There
were
people
of
different
ethnic
backgrounds,
young
people,
old
people,
all
these
people
that
had
the
common
goal
of
just
doing
good
for
their
community.
B
So
it
was
very,
very
inspiring
to
see
all
the
people
that
were
there
and
I
did
have
a
chance
to
meet
some
of
them
and
talk
about
some
of
the
issues
that
they're
facing
some
of
the
issues
that
we're
facing
and
compare
notes,
and
even
though
the
cities
do
vary
in
size
and
location
and
some
of
their
issues.
In
the
end,
we're
all
looking
at
the
really
the
same
constraints
in
terms
of
budget
and
we're
all
working
toward
the
same
things.
