Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting March 9, 2010 11. Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee Report
A
C
Very
patient
good
evening,
mr.
mayor
and
city
council,
my
name
is
Randy,
brace
and
I'd
like
to
start
by
introducing
the
committee
members
and
first
I'd
like
to
start
by
introducing
Walter
Byrd
chair
who
is
President
George
yang
vice
chair
Carl,
nickel
re
Doris
maze
from
the
traffic
safety
parking
representative,
David,
Nigel,
Parks
and
Recreation
Commission
representative
Joel
salute
the
Planning
Commission
representative
and
our
city
council,
representative
of
Michael
Salazar,
who
is
new
to
us
for
the
year.
2010
I'd
also
like
to
introduce
and
thanks
very
much
for
their
hard
work,
professionalism
and
support.
C
Laura
Russell,
the,
as
you
know,
the
associate
planning,
planner
community
development
and
Jim
Shannon
management,
analyst
for
Public,
Works
and
I'd
like
to
go
out
and
say
that
the
bicycle
and
pedestrian
committee
really
really
appreciate
their
efforts
and
feel
very
fortunate
to
have
their
participation
in
their
guidance
and
they
helped
us
a
lot
tonight.
I
briefly
like
to
recap:
some
of
the
accomplishments
for
the
year
2009
and
present
some
goals
for
2010
outreach
and
education
for
the
seventh
year
in
a
row
now,
committee
members
have
participated
in
bike
to
work
day
and
this
past
year.
C
C
Also
for
the
sixth
year
in
a
row,
Posey
parade
we've
had
an
informational
table
at
the
Posey
Braves,
and
you
can
find
us
usually
at
the
city
park
and
perhaps
you've
seen
us
walk
by
us
and
picked
up
some
informational
flyers
or
some
bike
swag
again
supplied
by
commute
dot
or
again.
We
appreciate
their
assistance.
C
Committee
members
also
participated
in
Arbor
Day
cleanup
at
John,
Muir,
school
and
another
info
table
at
the
city
park.
Last
year
you
saw
one
of
our
public
service
announcements
that
we
produced
about
bike
helmet
safety
early
in
2009.
We
we
rolled
out
our
second
30-second
PSA,
called,
stop,
look
and
wave
and
I'd
like
to
play
it
now.
C
The
curb
ramps
are
currently
being
installed
as
part
of
the
sidewalk
repair
program,
we're
also
working
on
developing
pedestrian
and
bicycle
wayfinding
signage
around
the
bart
station
shops
at
tanforan
and
the
crossing
the
program
is
funded
with
a
TD,
a
article
three
grant
and
now
on
to
some
goals.
For
the
year
2010.
C
Public
participation
in
our
monthly
meetings
is
up
and
we
encourage
more.
We
want
to
continue
to
identify
and
be
a
voice
for
community
needs
for
future
development
of
San
Bruno,
including
pedestrian
and
bicycle
master
plan,
and
that's
it.
Thank
you.
I'd
be
happy
to
answer
any
question.
Any
questions
for.
B
Randy,
if
I
could,
as
the
city's
representative
on
ack
bicycle
pedestrian
committee,
I
commend
this
committee
for
the
last
five
years
and
in
their
participation
and
the
application,
the
grant
applications
that
we've
been
able
to
secure.
One
thing
is
that
bicycle
and
pedestrian
projects
are
becoming
now
big
throughout
the
county
and
throughout
the
state,
even
and
there's
a
lot
of
money
out
there,
especially
one
since
it's
been
included
in
measure
a
funds
and
federal
funds.
B
Events
for
adults
also,
so
I
know
we
have
the
bike
to
work
day
and
I
know
we
have
some
of
the
you
know,
bike
safety
things,
but
I
think
if
we
can
promote
some
some
deal
where
we
can
and
maybe
partner
with
our
neighbors,
because
we
have
bike
routes
that
go
up
and
down
the
county.
But
I
do
commend
you
I,
don't
know
what
to
do
and
look
forward
to
working
more
with
you.
