San Bruno City Council Meeting October 12, 2010
10d. Wheelchair Lift Purchase for Library
B
B
Bedroom
improvement,
electrical
improvement,
including
for
the
wheelchair,
except
the
views,
virtually
procurement
and
installation
itself
on
all
of
the
other
work
already
was
completed.
When
I
was
August,
Tony
turd
the
department
went
out
for
bid
and
received
only
one
proposal
from
Pacific
access
contractors.
They
are
a
qualified
contractor
and
have
experience
in
this
type
of
work.
They
will
perform
this
installation
in
about
45
months.

B
D
C
Known
I
appreciate
that,
but
if
we're
just
approving
a
ten
percent-
but
this
is
15
and
like
I
said,
the
scope
of
the
work
is
very
specific.
It's
the
installation
of
a
lift
we've
bought
the
product,
we're
installing
it
I'm,
just
not
gathering
the
rationale
or
the
reasoning
for
the
additional
five
percent.
Let's
say
our.
B
D
B
B
Then,
specifically,
will
be
approved
dollar
by
dollar.
That
means
five
hundred
dollar
or
one-thousand-dollar.
How
much
that
additional
task
will
cost
and
the
city
manager
just
advised
me
and
corrected
me
that
most
typical
is
ten
percent
in
old
latest
contract.
I
am
pretty
sure
that
she
knows
better
than
I
do
then,
whatever
she
said,
but
I
am
standing
corrected
and
a
few
would
feel
much
more
comfortable.
C
It's
an
important
project,
isn't
about
me
being
comfortable
just
want
to
have
some
continuity
consistency
as
well
as
I'm,
just
looking
at
the
scope
of
the
work
and
not
understanding
the
additional
five
percent
I
think
ten
percent
is
fair,
reasonable
for
the
scope
of
work.
That's
needs
to
be
dying.
That's
just
my
opinion
and.
E
De
perros
reasons
can
I
talk
about
my
comfort,
I.
Think
I
can
appreciate
what
councilmember
the
vice
mayor
of
sandwich
and
I
don't
know.
Maybe
it's
a
for
a
future
discussion,
but
I've
always
been
uncomfortable
with
these
contingencies
and
we
go
through
and
we
read
these
staff
reports
and
we
try
to
understand,
what's
being
built
or
installed
or
the
costs
and
things
and
there's
this
big
contingency
sometimes
and
it
grows
obviously
in
proportion
to
the
cost
of
a
service
through
the
cost
of
the
project.
E
E
B
Process
I
believe,
if
I
recall
correctly,
the
city
manager
asked
me
a
few
months
ago
to
provide
you
with
a
information.
The
final
contract
costs
for
all
of
the
project
implemented
in
the
last
year
or
so,
and
you
could
see
from
that
information
provided
to
you
that
most
of
the
contracts
were
below
the
contingency
or
the
final
approved
dollar
limit.
Also
based
on
the
new
age
process
discussed
between
us
and
the
city
manager,
which,
hopefully
will
be
presented
to
you
shortly,
will
be
proposed
a
some
kind
of
close
out
step
for
all
of
our
projects.
B
E
B
F
I
just
like
to
make
a
couple
comments
at
first
of
all,
I
think
contingencies
are
a
good
idea.
I
know
that
some
are
10
for
summer
15,
but
with
the
old
buildings
that
we
have
with
the
unforeseen,
sometimes
on
unrecorded
changes
and
unknown
things
behind
walls.
I
think
it's
smart
to
have
a
contingency,
because
you
open
a
wall,
there's
something
there.
F
Nobody
knew
about
and
things
change
so
I'm
sure
our
department
heads
all
of
them
are
very
conscious
of
how
they
spend
the
money
and
are
duly
noting
when
we
exceed
the
original
contract
amounts,
especially
the
other
thing
about.
This
is,
if
something
happens
and
they
meet
and
we
don't
have
a
contingency
and
they
need
to
come
back
and
ask
for
more
money
for
any
particular
project.
It
extends
the
life
of
the
project
which
delays,
especially
for
the
library,
the
wheelchair
lifts,
which
delays
the
whole
thing,
which
adds
cost
and
adds
inconvenience.
