From YouTube: San Bruno City Council Meeting October 23, 2012 10e. Removal of Chairman Peevey from CPUC
Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting October 23, 2012
10e. Call for Removal of Chairman Michael Peevey from the CPUC
A
We
do
have
represented
here
from
Sam
trans,
but
I'm
going
to
ask
her
to
hold
off
because
I
do
have
a
number
of
residents
here
that
are
very
interested
in
our
next
item.
It
is
10
e
that
was
moved
from
the
conduct
of
business
and
it
is
adopted
resolution
supporting
Assemblymember,
Jerry,
Hill
and
cembran,
or
residents
call
for
removal
of
chairman
Michael
Peavy
from
California
Public
Utilities
Commission.
A
This
is
a
very,
very
important
resolution.
I'm
going
to
read
the
whole
thing
to
all
of
you,
but
before
that
I'd
like
to
say
that
I
was
in
attendance
at
numerous
press
conferences,
both
in
san
bruno
and
in
san
francisco
at
the
CPUC,
and
this
is
a
state
issue.
It's
not
just
Tim
Bruno
specific
we've
been
saying
that
for
two
years
now-
and
it's
growing
not
just
mr.
Peavey,
but
the
cpuc
and
I
want
to
read
this
to
you.
A
And
whereas
beginning
that
evening,
the
city
of
San
Bruno
committed
to
its
residents
that
it
would
do
everything
possible
not
only
to
restore
the
neighborhood
but
to
bring
about
the
necessary
changes.
To
assure
that.
A
similar
incident
would
not
happen
again
anywhere
ever
and
whereas.
Last
year,
the
city
of
San
Bruno
participated
as
a
party
to
the
national
transportation
safety
board.
A
And
whereas
the
recent
action
of
the
CPUC
under
the
leadership
of
commission
president
michael
pv,
to
suspend
the
administrative
hearings
that
provide
the
public
and
opportunity
to
hear
and
understand.
The
issues
under
investigation
related
to
the
tragic
September.
9.
2010
incident
call
into
serious
question
the
Commission's
and
its
President's
commitment
to
an
open,
honest
and
transparent
process
in
this
matter
of
acute
public
concern.
A
And
whereas,
while
the
tragic
events
of
September,
9th
2010,
directly
and
irreparably
damaged
the
San
brand
of
community
investigations,
both
by
the
NTSB
and
the
CPUC
itself,
have
demonstrated
that
numerous
factors
which
led
to
the
pipeline
explosion
may
in
fact
not
be
unique
to
the
utility
system
in
san
bruno.
And
therefore.
But
the
important
issues
under
consideration
to
the
CPUC
proceedings
are
critical
to
the
safety
of
citizens
throughout
the
state
of
california.
A
And
whereas
the
citizens
of
San
Bruno
in
the
state
of
California
have
the
right
to
expect
and
to
demand
that
the
public
agency
responsible
for
oversight
and
regulation
of
the
utilities
in
our
state
is
doing
everything
necessary
to
assure
that.
The
utility
systems
operating
in
our
neighborhoods
are
built,
operated
and
maintained
with
public
safety
as
a
first
priority.
A
And
whereas
in
his
actions
and
his
leadership
of
the
cpuc,
president,
Peavy
has
not
demonstrated
that
he
has
an
adequate
respect
or
accountability
for
interest
of
the
citizens
of
our
state,
who
look
to
the
CPUC
to
assure
their
safety
and
to
provide
independent
regulation
of
utility
companies
in
California
and
whereas
residents
of
the
city
of
San,
Bruno
victims
of
the
explosion
and
fire
along
with
semi
member
Jerry
Hill,
have
voiced
their
strong
concerned
about
President
PV
and
have
called
on
Governor
Brown.
To
remove
him.
A
Now,
therefore,
be
it
resolved
by
the
City
Council
of
the
city
of
San,
Bruno
that
the
City
Council
joins
its
residents
and
assembly
member
Hill
and
calling
for
the
immediate
removal
of
California
Public
Utilities
Commission
President
Michael
Peavy,
who
has
failed
in
his
fundamental
duty
to
protect
the
interests
of
the
citizens
of
the
city
of
san
bruno
and
of
the
state
of
california.
That's
a
resolution.
I.
A
A
B
Just
like
to
say
that,
for
two
years
now,
we
we've
done
what
we.
What
we
said,
we've
done
is
to
try
to
take
care
of
the
residents
and
the
victims
of
this
of
this
tragedy,
and
it
is,
it
is
frustrating
and
I
cannot
imagine
how
frustrating
it
is
for
you,
so
we
will
plug
on.
We
will
fight
harder
and
we
will
do
what
it
takes.
This
is
unacceptable
and
I'm
proud
to
be
a
part
of
this.
This
resolution
and
hope
that
it
sends
a
clear
and
strong
message
to
the
governor
should.
A
Also
be
noted
that
Dave,
pine
or
supervisor
from
this
district
here
was
at
the
press
conference
yesterday
in
san
bruno
and
is
going
to
bring
a
very
similar
resolution
to
the
entire
county
board
of
supervisors.
We
have
also
been
in
touch
with
the
League
of
California
cities,
and
we
hope
that
every
city
in
California
that
belonged
to
the
league
or
it
doesn't
belong
to
League,
gets
on
board
with
this,
because
this
could
have
happened
anywhere
and
we
see
the
failure
of
the
of
the
utility
and
the
failure
of
the
the
oversight
board.
A
C
Quickly,
mr.
mayor,
thank
you
for
reading
that
I
was
at
the
Monday
press
conference
and
to
make
it
brief
and
to
the
point.
Rene
Morales
susan
wallace,
who
were
their
lost
loved
ones,
said
they
no
longer
can
stand
quiet,
it's
not
just
about
their
pain
and
suffering
or
the
neighborhood
around
them,
but
it's
for
the
safety
and
those
in
the
state
of
California,
and
so
it
is.
They
very
eloquently
very
bravely
put
that
those
comments
forward
and
I
appreciate
their
continued
efforts
and
standing.
