Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting April 8, 2014
10g. Construction Contract for Acapella & Commodore Site Test Wells
C
Good
evening,
honorable
mayor
and
members
of
council,
my
name
is
Eun
Joon
Kim
I
worked
as
the
city
engineer
and
the
public
services
department
won.
The
city
receives
water
from
three
sources:
these
San
Francisco
Public,
Utilities,
Commission,
North,
Coast,
County,
Water
District,
and
a
system
of
groundwater
Wells
well
15,
located
at
Commodore
Park
has
been
out
of
service
since
2010
last
October
staff
brought
a
status
update
regarding
the
the
progress
of
the
project
to
replace
well
15
to
Council.
We
identified
two
sites
that
were
the
most
feasible
locations.
C
C
During
the
process
of
soliciting
bids
staff
contacted
25,
drilling
companies
also
contacted
worked
with
seven
plan
houses
and
advertise
in
the
newspaper
two
times.
However,
we
did
only
receive
one
bid
and
the
reason
for
this
are
twofold.
First,
the
drought
conditions
in
the
region
have
created
a
high
demand
for
drilling
contractors,
and
also
the
recovering
economy
has
created
a
high
demand
for
construction
in
general,
so
we've
seen
only
one
bid
and
the
bid
we
did
receive
was
thirty-seven
percent.
C
Above
the
engineer's
estimate
staff
check
the
references
and
and
determine
that
roadrunner
drilling
company
has
installed
six
wells
in
the
area
for
san
francisco,
south
san
francisco
daly
city
coma
and
the
PUC.
They
have
received
excellent
reviews
for
the
quality
of
work
and
and
their
workmanship
overall
staff
does
recommend
proceeding
with
the
contract
with
roadrunner
drilling
company.
The
contract
is
specifies
that
we
will
drill
to
test
wells
one
if
the
first
well
is
provides
favorable
results
for
a
production.
Well,
we
will
not
proceed
with
the
secondary
test.
