Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting February 24, 2015
11. Annual Traffic Safety & Parking Committee Report
B
This
year
we
anticipated
a
lot
of
changes,
a
lot
of
challenges
with
the
grade
separation
project,
with
the
newly
voted
in
change
to
downtown
with
the
height
restrictions,
so
we're
proud
to
say
that
we've
accomplished
quite
a
bit
this
year.
This
is
the
list
of
the
committee
members.
My
name
is
Jessica
Barnes
Lopez.
As
you
know,
my
vice
chair
mark
Howard
committee
members,
Eric
would
Tom
Hamilton
and
Tim
Ross.
Our
staff
support
is
Jimmy
tan,
Joseph,
Cervantes
and
police,
lieutenant
Troy
fry.
B
So
about
23
years
ago
we
started
building
a
process
for
applying
for
changes
right
for
applying
for
stop
signs
crosswalks.
We
now
have
the
the
kit,
which
shows
the
application.
It
shows
what
what
requirements
you
need
to
meet
for
a
stop
sign,
rather
than
just
getting
a
lot
of
applications
for
stop
signs
for
speeding
right.
So
it
lays
it
out
a
little
more
clearly.
B
We've
also
adopted
a
preferred
crosswalk
as
you'll
see
on
the
bottom
picture,
we're
trying
to
stick
with
the
latter
design,
and
that's
really
because
children
seem
to
be
more
responsive
around
their
schools
when
that
latter
design
is
out
there.
So
one
of
the
small
things
that
we've
worked
on
this
year.
B
This
year
to
engage
the
community
we've
sent
out
mailers.
We
of
course
have
the
website,
which
has
our
city
city
staff,
contact
information.
We
hold
our
public
meetings
and
this
year
we've
had
27
residents
provide
input.
We've
had
many
people
at
our
meetings,
but
a
good,
a
good
feedback
from
about
27
residents
and
business
owners.
B
There
was
also
installation
of
blue
curb
striping
at
the
American
Legion
Hall,
which
that
was
a
surprise
to
everyone,
because
it
turned
out
when
the
streets
were
put
together,
one
Street
just
caught
off
at
the
American
Legion
and
they
would
be
losing
their
handicap
spot
in
their
loading
zone.
So
we
just
reconfigured,
so
they
would
have
their
spot
back
and
not
block
traffic.
B
This
year
we
had
the
consideration
of
the
special
parking
permit
district,
which
was
around
the
new
caltrain
station
that
was
brought
forth
with
concerns
from
the
neighborhood
that
once
the
caltrain
station
was
moved,
there
would
be
less
residential
parking.
So
we
did.
We
did
go
through
a
process
of
perhaps
having
this
parking
permit
area.
B
We've
also
had
traffic
calming
along
oakmont
dr.
This
is
again
pending
implementation,
but
this
will
involve
placement
of
center
lines,
speed,
limit
painted
on
the
roadway
installation
of
edge
lines
and
coordination
with
Monteverde
school
to
remind
parents
to
comply
with
the
posted
speed
limits,
the
plaza
development
at
406
san
mateo
avenue.
We
had
a
consideration
of
a
loading
zone
and
traffic
impacts
for
the
proposed
mixed-use
development
in
downtown,
and
this
is
something
we
plan
to
deal
with
as
its
built
as
well.
B
B
B
Most
recently,
we've
had
the
SFPUC
regulator
project,
which
was
a
consideration
of
parking
restrictions
to
allow
for
24-7
maintenance
access.
This
is
pending
city
council
review,
but
this
one,
this
one's
kind
of
easy,
basically,
maintenance-
doesn't
have
access
to
where
they
need
to
get.
You
know
24
hours,
somebody
could
be
parked
there
and
they
won't
be
able
to
get
to
it
to
fix
it
so
goals
for
2015.
B
We
will
continue
to
use
the
applicable
adopted
policies
in
reviewing
requests
for
parking
restrictions,
stop
signs
traffic
calming
participate
in
the
development
of
the
bicycle
and
pedestrian
master
plan,
finalized
parking
study
for
the
grade
separation,
product
project
conduct,
parking
study
for
san
mateo
avenue
north
of
san
bruno
avenue,
collect
feedback
from
neighborhoods
that
previously
receive
traffic
calming
improvements
and
address
impacts
from
the
grade
separation
project
and
downtown
developments.
This
is
our
contact
information.
You
can
of
course,
report
any
traffic
issues
to
the
Department
of
Public
Services
or
send
an
email
through
our
website.
Thank
you.
B
A
You
very
much,
as
we
say
here
to
all
of
our
boards
and
commissions
and
committees,
you're,
really
the
lifeblood
of
this
community,
because
you're
all
volunteer
a
lot
of
people,
don't
see
what
you
do
because
you're
meeting
the
evenings
and
you're
out
in
the
streets
during
the
day.
So
it's
very
very
important
because
you
do
a
wonderful
job.
So
please
pass
that
on
to
the
rest
of
the
committee.
Members.
