Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting May 13, 2014
3. Announcements
A
We
have
a
few
announcements
this
evening.
The
first
one
is
the
annual
Posey
parade
will
take
place
on
sunday
june.
First
2014
at
1pm
starts
downtown,
crosses
El
Camino
and
comes
up.
Crystal
Springs
Road
have
some
special
things.
A
plan
this
year
we're
going
to
help
the
Lions
enhance
the
program,
so
it
should
be
a
lot
of
fun,
so
I
encourage
all
of
you
to
attend.
The
city
of
San.
A
Bruno
reminds
residents
of
the
need
to
reduce
water
consumption
in
order
to
protect
water
resources
in
light
of
the
continuing
statewide
drought,
condition
and
I
have
a
little
something
to
read
on
January
28
2014,
the
city
of
San
Bruno
asked
residents
and
businesses
to
conserve
water
to
help
me
that
ten
percent
voluntary
reduction
goal
that
will
help
preserve
both
valuable
resources
of
the
Hetch,
Hetchy
watershed
and
her
own
local
groundwater
resources.
So
far
in
2014
residents
have
reduced
their
water
consumption
by
2%
and
all
citywide
users
by
5%
cities
encouraged
by
these
early
results.
A
However,
if
the
ten
percent
goal
is
not
achieved,
mandatory
reduction
requirements
may
be
adopted
to
learn
the
benefits
of
drought,
tolerant
plants
as
an
alternative
to
a
grass
lawn
and
to
help
create
water,
efficient,
low
maintenance,
landscape.
The
city
will
be
offering
a
free
landscape,
Blastoise
coming
Saturday,
May,
seventeenth,
nine
to
noon
at
the
San
Bruno
recreation
center.
Partial
rebates
are
available
for
low-flow,
toilets,
washing
machines
and
converting
lawns
free
low-flow
showerheads,
a
five
minute
shower
timer,
as
well
as
free,
bathroom
and
kitchen
faucet.
A
Aerators
can
be
obtained
at
the
city
hall,
utility
building,
counter
and
information
about
all
of
these
programs
and
practical
tips
to
reduce
water
consumption
and
help
reduce
rehab
reach.
Our
ten
percent
goal
can
be
found
on
the
city's
website
san
bruno
CA,
gov
or
by
contacting
the
public
services
department.
A
B
Do
thank
you
just
to
give
you
a
brief
update
on
operation
clean-sweep
that
was
held.
May
third
Saturday.
We
had
over
a
hundred
participants,
volunteers
that
came
and
we
sent
them
out
on
different
routes
throughout
the
city
and
they
cleaned
up
garbage
and
recycling,
so
the
total
garbage
that
they
picked
up
now
remember
this
is
just
100
people.
They
picked
up
3800
pounds
of
garbage,
1,300
pounds
of
recycling
and
then
at
our
barbecue
for
our
luncheon.
We
had
only
five
pounds
of
garbage.
B
We
produced
only
five
pounds
of
garbage
after
feeding
all
those
people,
because
we
did
73
pounds
of
recycling
and
180
pounds
of
organics,
so
the
paper
plates.
We
used
the
leftover
foods.
All
those
kinds
of
things
went
into
the
organics
instead
of
going
into
landfill,
so
we
only
had
five
pounds
going
into
the
landfill,
so
that
was
great.
B
Also
I
wanted
to
add
a
little
bit
about
the
water
situation
and
I'll
be
saying
more
at
the
end,
but
the
San
Francisco
Public,
Utilities
Commission,
will
be
deciding
by
June
fifteenth
if
they
make
the
ten
percent
mandatory.
So
we
have
in
it
that
and
that
mandatory
determination
will
be
partly
determined
and
partly
determined
by
the
any
additional
water
fall
or
runoff
from
the
snowbanks
that
we
have,
but
also
on
how
much
effort
people
put
into
me
to
reaching
their
ten
percent.
B
So
if
we
show
good
effort,
you
know
the
two
percent
is
kind
of
embarrassing.
We
really
need
to
amp
that
up
and
if
we
get
it
to
the
ten
percent
and
it
works,
it
won't
become
mandatory
or
the
other
pieces.
The
governor
is
looking
at
a
twenty
percent,
mandatory
reduction
and
that's
very
difficult
to
do
so.
Please
try
your
very
best
to
watch
how
you
use
your
water.
Thank
you.
