Description
San Bruno City Council Meeting
11/25/14
10d. Spyglass Pump Station and Force Main Replacement Project
B
The
spyglass
pump
station
is
one
of
six
senators
to
a
pump
station,
that's
operated
by
the
city.
It
conveys
the
wastewater
to
the
water
quality
control
plant
in
South,
San
Francisco
the
pump
stations
located
at
the
end
of
a
spyglass,
dr
in
the
northwestern
corner
of
the
city,
and
serve
approximately
seventy
eight
homes
in
the
vicinity.
As
part
of
the
consent
decree,
eight
cities
required
to
rehabilitate
and
replace
the
pump
station
by
2018.
The
existing
computation
has
several
issues
that
requires
the
replacement.
B
B
Since
the
layout
of
the
pump
station
makes
it
really
difficult
for
the
maintenance
staff
to
go
down
and
perform
the
maintenance
of
these
of
the
pump
station
and
the
existing
pumps
are
also
outdated
and
an
in
need
of
replacement
because
they
require
constant
maintenance
and
repair.
The
existing
force
main
pipeline
is
also
located
in
the
steep
in
heavily
wooded
area
that
makes
impossible
for
the
city
staff
to
access
the
force
painful
repair
as
well.
B
So
this
is
city
city
issue
at
RFP,
for
the
design
services
in
October
and
receive
three
proposals
for
the
design
staff,
evaluated
the
proposals
and
is
recommending
hydro
science
to
provide
professional
engineering
design
for
this
project.
Hydro
science
has
the
experience
as
they've
previously
designed
the
Olympic
of
pump
station
and
forstman
replacement
project
the
cost
for
the
consulting
services.
It's
330
1673
dollars.
The
scope
of
work
includes
the
preparations
of
good
documents,
providing
construction
support,
preparing
technical
memorandum
performing
alternative
evaluations
and
serving
as
well
as
your
technical
investigation.
B
The
design
will
take
approximately
10
months
to
complete
with
an
estimated
construction
of
12
months,
and
these
project
is
an
established,
CIP
project
and
has
an
appropriation
of
million
dollars
and
ninety
one
thousand
from
the
wastewater
capital
fund,
which
will
be
carried
over
to
the
2014-15
CIP.
No
additional
funding
is
being
proposed
in
the
1415
CIP.
Harvard
staff
will
come
back
to
within
the
2015-16
CIP
for
additional
funding
for
construction
of
these
of
the
facilities.
B
C
B
A
couple
of
the
alternatives
that
we're
evaluating
is
you
know
there
is
currently
a
spyglass
that
they
start
Park
pump
station.
Let's
locate
it
just
above
the
sharp
park
road
one
in
the
alternative
is
to
pump
from
this
spyglass
pump
station
to
the
short
part
pump
station
as
well.
That's
one
alternative
and
the
other
one
is
to
look
at
you
know
we
do
have
some
info
on
infiltration
issues
in
the
sparks
sharp
park
basin.
One
alternative
is
to
segregate
the
entire
Basin
into
two
different
basins.
D
E
D
So
I
think
we
should
be
a
little
more
prudent
on
2.7
million
dollars
and
not
necessarily
you
know,
be
anxious
to
just
spend
it
on.
You
know,
on
a
small
neighborhood
I
mean
I,
recognize
that
you've
got
a
deadline
and
I
recognize
that
you
know
they
they
do
need.
You
know
it
does
need
repair
but
replacement,
though
hopefully
the
consultant
will
come
up
with
something.
That's
a.
E
Very
valid
question:
the
problem
that
we
have
in
this
area
is
the
terrain
is
very,
very
peculiar.
You
have
the
spyglass,
dr
that's
way
below
sharp
park
road,
so
it's
I
mean
we.
We
cannot
really
bring
it
up
and
without
some
kind
of
a
pump
system
and
get
over
the
elevation.
Even
if
you
want
to
give
it
to
pacifica,
you
still
have
to
connect
down
sharp
park,
it's
just
as
easy
for
us
to
bring
it
up
to
you
connected
our
system.
E
If
you
recall
for
the
Olympic
pump
station,
would
look
at
that
alternative
to
give
it
to
westborough
and
that
didn't
quite
work
out,
but
we
will
look
at
all
the
alternatives.
You're
right.
This
is
a
quite
a
bit
of
money
that
we're
going
to
spend
here.
478
homes
it
is
required.
We
have
to
get
it
done
quickly,
but
in
the
meantime
we
will
look
at
the
alternatives
and
try
to
get
the
best
for
our
money.
Thank.
