Good morning it's miss Susan and welcome to live story time at the San Bruno Public Library I'm, so glad today to be reading you stories and to sing some songs and do some finger plays with you today to find out about all of our different story times pre-recorded or our live story. Yeah it's a moon, I went for a really nice walk out last night and there was a beautiful moon up in the sky and so I thought for sure. Tomorrow, when I come in to do story time, I'll pick out a Halfmoon shape or our name tags there's my name on there miss Susan. If you ever come to my story times, you know that I like to sing the bread-and-butter song, it's a really fun song where we get to say hello, so many different ways we get to say it very quietly, alo in a whisper and then we get to sing it very loudly and we sing it very quickly and then slowly and then we sing it. We point our hands up high and we use our price.

Saturday morning, goat decided that she was tired of eating herbs and grass. She wanted to try something new.

She tried the dog's food for breakfast. hmm It was delicious.

When she washed it down with the cat's milk.

The dog got more food and the cat fresh.

Milk, the pig got more potato peelings and the farmer's wife planted a new plant. The farmer's daughter needed new shoes and the farmer never found his underpants, but at least goat was well again.

Oh, my goodness, I can't believe how many things that that goat ate and she turned all kinds of different colors. Didn't she so, let's sing a song about colors, maybe not the colors that the goat turned. But let's see what I have here all right. Can you see what color this is say out loud? What color you think this is yeah. It's red, I hope it looks like red, it's red to me sometimes on the computer.

It can change color, but it's red. So we have a song there's something that we eat. Maybe you like it. Maybe you'd like to have spaghetti so spaghetti sauce is red. We're gonna, sing, spaghetti sauce is red and then I want you to think of another food that you like to eat. That is the color red. Okay. Here we go spaghetti. Sauce is red, spaghetti.

You think about another food that is red, maybe we're thinking about the same thing: I thought of a red apple, so I'm, gonna, sing, apples.

Wheel there we go now it's cream, hmm let's think about some other food, that we know that is the color green and guess what I have a special basket. I'm gonna go, look and see if I can find something. That's the color green.

Our next book is called shapes, it's being read by permission of the learner group shapes by dr. Alvin Grinnell scheme and grownups shape. Identification is an important kindergarten, readiness, skill and books like these can help your child learn about their shapes and be ready to go to kindergarten.

Amy and John are at the beach, what shapes can they see? John can see round, shapes Amy can see triangles, and the shells on the sand are many different kinds of shapes.

A square what shape is Amy's net? The net is square like squares on a board. Each side is the same length and each corner is the same. These blocks have six sides, every side is a square, and these shapes are called cubes.

That one is star, many animals have special shapes like this sea star. It has points like a star, and this snake has shapes on its skin. These shapes are called diamonds. A diamond has four sides.

There are circles and triangles and rectangles and squares.

Shapes help a digger work round wheels, make it move and other shapes help it to dig hmm think about what shapes that you can see on a bicycle or a tractor.

Adding shapes, you can add shapes to each other. Amy uses shapes to draw a picture in the sand. Can you see what it is?

There's her drawing and there's a real one of what she is drawing a house. A house can be many shapes. Some parts. Look like triangles. Some parts, look like rectangles. What shapes are on this house.

So let's do a rhyme that has some ice cream in it, but we get to eat some healthy things first and then some treats at the end so get out your apples and we're gonna have a sandwich and then hold a lollipop up and then get your bowl and your spoon for your ice cream.
