Description
What's Happening Around Town for the City of San Bruno
January 2019
A
Welcome
to
what's
happening
around
town
for
the
city
of
San
Bruno
happy
new
year,
I'm
Stephanie
Chavez,
it
is
January
2019
and
the
city
with
the
heart
has
so
many
things
going
on.
We
thought
you
would
like
to
know
the
San
Bruno
Avenue,
Street,
medians
improvement
project
which
started
in
2004
is
nearing
completion
with
good
weather.
The
project
may
be
completed
this
month.
A
The
next
time
you
are
driving
between
Traeger
Avenue
and
highway
280
check
out
the
new
pedestrian
friendly,
curb
ramps,
push
button,
poles
and
signals
and
island
passage
ways
to
promote
walkable
connections
between
high-density
employment,
centers
retail
stores,
residential
areas
and
public
transit.
The
project
includes
replacing
the
landscaping
with
drought,
resistant
trees,
plants
and
shrubs,
and
installing
drip
irrigation
systems
to
increase
water
conservation.
In
the
near
future.
The
Public
Works
Department
will
modify
the
current
lane
configuration
and
traffic
signals
at
section
of
Cherry
Avenue
and
San
Bruno
Avenue
to
improve
safety.
A
Do
you
ride
a
bike
to
work?
Do
you
wish
you
could
the
San
Bruno
Community
Development
Department
has
been
actively
promoting
biking
to
work
thanks
to
a
grant
from
the
San
Bruno
Community
Foundation,
the
new
bike?
Fix-It
station
has
been
built
and
is
located
at
the
San
Bruno
fourth
station.
It
is
located
outside
of
the
paid
area,
but
inside
the
gated
area,
giving
bicycle
riders
the
opportunity
to
make
minor
repairs,
as
well
as
to
put
air
in
their
bike,
tires
free
of
charge.
A
Indoor
space
heaters
and
electric
blankets
are
great
ways
to
stay
warm
during
the
cold
months.
However,
heating
equipment
is
a
leading
cause
of
home
fire
deaths.
By
following
these
simple
steps,
you
can
prevent
most
heating
related
fires
from
happening,
keep
anything
that
can
burn
at
least
three
feet
away
from
heating
equipment
like
the
furnace,
fireplace
wood,
stove
or
portable
space.
Heater,
never
use
your
oven
heat
your
home,
have
heating
equipment
and
chimneys
cleaned
and
inspected
each
year
by
a
qualified,
professional
and
remember
to
turn
off
portable
heaters
when
leaving
the
room
or
going
to
bed.
A
Are
you
courageous
enough
to
take
a
leap
into
the
icy
waters
of
the
San
Bruno
park?
