event
on

May
sixteenth,
if
you
or
someone
you
know,
is
living
with
a
chronic
conditions
such
as
asthma,
diabetes
or
arthritis.
Then
this
class
is
for
you
living
well
with
chronic
conditions,
was
developed
at
Stanford
University
to
give
you
tips
and
information
to
improve
your
health
help.
You
feel
better
and
manage
your
condition.
A
This
class
starts
on
june
fourth
and
will
continue
every
wednesday
from
9
30
to
noon
for
six
weeks.
Although
this
class
is
free,
you
must
pre-register
by
May
sixteenth
at
the
Senior
Center
front
desk,
sign
up
now
for
living
well
with
chronic
conditions
sponsored
by
the
peninsula
healthcare
district,
starting
on
wednesday
june.
A
Fourth,
only
at
the
san
bruno
senior
center,
we
have
all
heard
that
california's
severe
drought
conditions
may
make
this
one
of
the
worst
fire
seasons
and
history,
but
I
have
also
heard
that
heavy
winter
rains
caused
significant
increase
in
vegetative
growth,
which
increases
fire
fuels,
and
that
is
what
leads
to
a
dangerous
fire
season,
which
is
it.
The
fact
is
that
San
Bruno
is
known
as
a
wildland
urban
interface
area,
where
structures
are
in
close
proximity
to
vegetation.
A
Much
of
the
charm
of
our
community
is
the
open
space
adjacent
to
our
neighborhood,
keeping
us
close
to
nature.
The
current
drought
is
causing
the
chaparral
in
the
canyons
to
be
drier
and
more
combustible.
The
lack
of
rain
means
that
the
dry
season
has
already
started
so
making
preparations
for
the
long
dry
summer
should
start
now.
Also,
the
late
rains
are
causing
an
abundant
growth
of
grasses,
which
increase
the
load
of
flash
fuels
once
they
dry
out,
so
additional
clearing
of
brush
later
into
the
season
may
be
necessary.
A
Finally,
forecasters
are
telling
us
that
we
are
headed
into
El
Nino
condition,
which
means
hotter
than
average
summer
temperature
altogether.
The
2014
fire
season
is
likely
to
be
a
long
and
hazardous
one,
whether
in
a
drought
year
or
a
high
rainfall
year.
The
recommended
actions
for
san
bruno
residents
are
the
same
design.
Their
landscaping
with
fire
resistive
plant
in
natural
settings,
remove
all
combustible
vegetation
and
dry
brush
within
100
feet
of
your
home
or
to
your
property
line,
trim
trees.
A
So
the
tips
of
the
lowest
branches
are
at
least
six
feet
from
the
ground
and
at
least
10
feet
from
chimneys.
Ensure
your
irrigation
system
is
maintained
and
operating
efficiently,
don't
water
beyond
your
landscaping
and
have
an
emergency
plan
in
case
of
fire.
If
you
have
any
questions
about
how
to
keep
your
property
safe
from
fire
contact,
the
san
bruno
fire
department
at
six
