San Bruno's What's Happening Around Town in September, 2011
TRT 9:29
A
If
you
are
interested
in
finding
out
what's
happening
around
town
in
September
2011,
you
have
tuned
into
the
right
program.
I'm
stephanie,
chaves,
National,
Fire,
Prevention
Week
begins
on
October
9th,
with
attention
on
promoting
fire
safety.
Of
course,
fire
safety
and
Prevention
should
be
practiced
all
year.
Long
many
potential
fire
hazards
go
undetected
because
people
simply
don't
take
the
steps
to
fireproof
their
homes.
Household
fires
can
be
caused
by
misuse
or
poor
maintenance
of
electrical
devices.
A
Careless
use
of
candles,
smoking
in
bed
and
children
playing
with
matches
and
lighters
most
potential
hazards
can
be
addressed
with
a
little
common
sense,
for
example,
be
sure
to
keep
flammable
items
at
least
three
feet
away
from
portable
heaters
or
lit
candles
and
never
smoke
in
bed.
Also
items
like
appliances
or
electric
blankets
should
not
be
operated
if
they
have
frayed
power
cords
and
never
overload
electrical
outlets.
A
The
following
fire
safety
checklist
will
keep
your
family
home
safer,
install
and
maintain
a
working
smoke
alarm
outside
of
every
sleeping
area
and
remember
to
change
the
battery
at
least
once
a
year
designate
to
escape
routes
from
each
bedroom
and
practice
them
regularly
teach
everyone
the
stop,
drop
and
roll
technique
in
case
clothing,
catches
on
fire
and
teach
kids
that
matches
lighters
and
candles
are
tools,
not
toys
for
more
information
on
fire
prevention.

be
glad
to

about
movies

night
in
September,
the
big
tennis
ball
across
the
street
from
the
recreation
building
turns
into
a
movie
screen
at
sunset,
be
sure
to
come
early
and
bring
your
own
chair
and
popcorn
to
these
movies
are
great
entertainment
for
the
whole
family.
So
tell
your
friends
to
meet
you
at
city
park
for
Friday
nights
in
September
for
movies
in
the
park.
A

It
is
important
that
children
have
a
positive
experience
when
playing
team
sports.
A
That's
why
our
youth
sports
program
philosophy
is
for
the
children
to
play
and
have
fun
in
a
safe
environment,
display
good
sportsmanship
and
improve
their
skills.
Participants
will
be
divided
into
teams
that
will
be
as
evenly
matched
as
possible.
Each
coach
will
focus
on
teaching
skills
sportsmanship
and
having
fun.
The
economy
is
tough
on
everyone
right
now
and
when
you
are
struggling
to
make
ends
meet,
it
can
be
hard
to
find
extra
money
to
pay
for
recreation.
A
For
the
kids,
the
San
Bruno
Community
Services
Department
is
proud
to
offer
scholarship
programs
for
children
with
few
resources
and
who
want
to
learn
something
new
meet
new
friends
and
have
a
positive
role
model
from
a
teacher
or
recreation
leader.
We
believe
that
recreation
strengthen
safety
and
security,
promotes
health
and
wellness
and
fosters
human
development.
You
could
partner
with
us
by
helping
to
make
San
Bruno
a
better
place
for
our
children,

to
the

program
by

amount.
