Hi,
my
name
is
shayla
mckeown
and
I'm
the
I'm
the
chair
of
the
therapeutic
dance
this
year.
The
therapeutic
dance
is
a
prawn-like
experience
for
teens
and
adults
in
the
community
with
special
needs.
The
dance
took
place
last
saturday
on
march
30th
at
the
teen
center
we
had
about
140
people
attend.
Overall,
the
theme
was
a
night
by
campfire
we
had
cisco's
and
s'mores
for
food.
We
also
had
dj
slick
djing
the
event
with
our
special
guest
performer
ryan
ferrari,
our
guest
dance
played
games
and
had
a
great
time
in
the
photo
booth.
F
The
dance
was
a
great
success
and
a
night
we
won't
forget.
Lastly,
I
would
just
like
to
thank
our
donors
for
dj
slick,
cisco's
donna
who
did
our
balloons
for
the
night
art
trek,
kaneho,
photography,
the
therapeutic
staff,
whole
foods,
panera,
pete,
martinez,
leanne,
petrus
and
ryan
ferrari
for
helping
making
the
for
help
making
the
night
possible.
Thank
you.
B
On
tuesday
march
12th
we
held
our
internship
fair
at
the
thousand
oaks
library,
with
26
of
our
businesses
in
attendance
and
one
of
the
largest
student
turnouts.
Since
the
program
began,
we
simultaneously
held
a
parent
meeting
across
the
street
at
the
cvusd
boardroom
for
any
parents.
Looking
for
more
information
about
the
program,
72
interested
students
gave
us
contact
information
for
more
info
about
the
program,
but
so
far
we
only
have
32
applications,
so
we
have
to
so.
We
have
now
extended
the
deadline
to
april
10th
make
sure
to
turn
in
your
applications
asap.
B
I
also
have
some
reminders
for
those
applying
to
the
program.
First
of
all,
applicants
are
only
allowed
to
apply
to
one
internship
so
make
sure
to
choose
the
best
fit
for
you.
All.
Applicants
must
also
agree
to
follow
the
rules
of
both
the
city
program,
as
well
as
those
of
your
employer
and
attend
all
courses
at
california,
lutheran
university.
B
Lastly,
I'd
like
to
remind
all
juniors
that,
even
if
they
were
not
in
attendance
for
the
march
12th
internship
fair,
they
can
still
apply
for
an
internship
on
our
website.

You
can

as
ways
to

the

for
further
questions.
Thank

for
youth

and
we're

and
we're
having
el
poyo
loco
cater

food.
The
event
is
from
7
to
10
at
art.
Trek
so
come
out
and
bring
your
friends
and
it'll
be
a
really
fun
night.
A
Thank
you.
The
chair
of
the
environmental
committee
is
not
here
so
I'll,
be
giving
the
report
tonight
on
april.
27Th
thousand
oaks
is
hosting
an
arbor
earth
day
celebration
at
the
thousand
oaks
library
outdoors.
We
encourage
all
everyone
to
come.
Join
us,
it's
gonna
be
a
really
great
event.
A
We
are
hosting
a
booth,
we
are
at
our
booth,
we're
gonna
have
a
tree
made
out
of
water
bottles
where
you
can
hang
up
a
pledge
about
how
you're
gonna
help
contribute
to
saving
the
environment,
and
we
are
also
doing
an
art
piece
out
of
bottle
caps
to
raise
awareness
about
single-use
plastics
and
and
the
damage
that
is
doing
to
the
environment,
and
we
are
going
to
make
a
mural
out
of
bottle
caps,
it's
going
to
say
teo
strong,
so
we
would.
A
We
encourage
you
to
join
us
april,
27th
at
the
thousand
oaks
library
from
10
to
2..
Thank
you.
So
next
we
have
item
60.
The
youth
recognition
awards
with
commissioner
schlosser.
H
Hi
everyone
I'm,
commissioner
slosher,
and
this
year,
I'm
the
chair
of
the
youth
recognition
awards.
This
is
my
second
year
doing
the
event,
and
I
must
say
it's
such
an
amazing
journey.
The
process
starts
back
in
the
fall
when
we
send
out
nomination,
forms
and
advertise
for
the
nominations
to
many
non-profits
organizations,
schools
or
any
volunteer
services.
H
The
student
must
either
live
or
attend
school
in
the
thousand
oaks
area,
and
we
accept
nominees
anywhere
from
7th
to
12th
grade
once
we
have
all
the
nominations
usually
around
like
100,
which
close
this
year
the
first
week
of
march,
we
can
email
every
nominee
in
interview
time,
which
is
what
commissioner
mendes
and
I
did
on
april,
2nd.
We
were
also
able
to
download
all
of
the
nomination
forms
to
prepare
for
the
interviews.
As
people
respond
to
interview
emails,
I
marked
on
their
availability
availability
and
adjust
the
schedule
accordingly.
H
The
interviews
this
year
on
are
on
april
9th
and
10th,
which
is
a
week
from
yesterday
and
today.
Personally,
the
interview
days
are
my
favorite
part
of
the
event.
Last
year
we
interviewed
and
met
the
most
amazingly
wonderful
students.
Some
of
them
have
the
hardest.
At-Home
lives
yet
push
through
and
find
their
place
in
the
community
volunteering
and
dedicate
their
time
and
countless
hours
doing
the
most
impressive
work.
H
After
the
long
interview
days,
every
commissioners
assigned
people
to
write
an
award
script
for,
and
once
they
send
me
all
of
theirs.
I
make
a
massive
script
for
the
whole
event
this
year.
The
event
is
on
may
23rd
here
at
the
civic
arts
plaza
and
every
nominee
and
their
family
is
invited
to
come
at
the
awards.
The
mayor
and
all
of
us
commissioners
get
to
present
various
students
with
awards,
ranging
in
levels
from
achievement
to
achievement
awards
youth
of
the
year.
The
event
is
such
a
fun
day
and
I'm
already
looking
forward
to
it.
A
I

you

Thank

I'm
just
wanting
to
let
everybody
know
that's

the
city

that
canal
youth
employment
has
still
some
room
for
appointments
for
practicing
your
interview
or
helping
with
your
application
or
your
resume.
So
it's
a
free
service
and
please
take
advantage
of
it.
That's
for
the
city
program.
Thank
you.
I
Thank

by
april
10th,
and
then
I
would
also
just
like
to
thank
the
volunteers
that
participated
last
week
in
helping
set
up
or
participate
in
the
therapeutic
dance.
It
was
so
successful
and
we
could
not
have
done
it
without
all
of
you.
So
if
you
would
like
any
other
information
about
the
youth
commission
or
have
any
questions
about
the
agenda
items
discussed,
please
call.
