AECOM gives project updates to the Complete Streets Advisory Committee.
The presentation gives update on the below projects:

5:21 LaPorte Road/Hess Road Corridor Study
10:50 US HWY 63 Enhancements Construction

We
are
excited
today
to
give
an
update
on
several
ongoing
projects
being
developed
or
under
construction
in
the
city
of
waterloo.
That
will
have
a
significant
impact
in
our
community.
We
would
like
to
thank
mayor
hart
and
the
city
council
members
for
all
of
their
input,
support
and
cooperation
throughout
the
development
of
each
of
the
projects
we
will
be
discussing
today.
We
would
also
like
to
thank
several
city
staff
and
departments,
including
noel
anderson
and
the
planning
development
development
department,
jamie
knudsen
in
the
engineering.

also

streets

stakeholders

each
of
the
projects.

reviewing
seven
ongoing
projects
today.
The
first
project
is
the
university
avenue
project
which
is
nearing
completion
and
was
open
to
through
traffic
from
cedar
falls
to
highway
63
on
october
21st,
with
enhancement,
work
being
completed
over
this
fall
and
finishing
next
spring.
The
second
project
we'll
be
discussing
will
be
the
laporte
road,
hess
road
corridor
study
and
design,
extending
from
charlottes
road
to
u.s
218
and
the
next
major
corridor
reconstruction
project
in
the
city.

third
project
will
be
the
us,
63
enhancement,
construction
from
newell
street
to
washington
street,
which
will
complete
the
work
on
this
major
corridor
improvement
throughout
the
city.
The
fourth
project
will
be
the
charlottesville
trail
construction
project
from
cedar
terrace
drive
to
the
cedar
valley,
nature
trail.
The
fifth
project
will
be
the
fourth
fifth
and
sixth
one-way
to
two-way
conversion
study
starting
near
east
high
school
and
finishing
near
six
corners.

sixth
project
we
will
be
discussing
will
be
the
updated
entrance
and
parking
facilities
to
the
center
for
the
arts
and
finally,
the
second
and
last
project
that
we
will
be
discussing
today
will
be
the
commercial
street
roadway
and
enhancement
project
in
downtown
michelle
sweeney
and
mark
durban.

project
managers

aecom
will
be
discussing
the
projects
today,
michelle
will
begin
by
discussing
the
university
avenue
project,
so
michelle

it

The
university
avenue
enhancements
are
shown

been
installed

project,

the
trail
head

intersection

both
the
university
avenue
recreational
trail
and
the
sergeant
road
recreational
trail
and
the
lower
right
shows
the
intersection
markers
that
you
will
find
at
the
major
intersections.

Under
construction
is
the
wave
railing
for
the
green
hill,
road
bridge
and
blackhawk
creek
bridge
on
the
university
avenue
corridor.
The
wave
railing
will
include
led
lighting
that
will
change
colors
and
brick
monuments
with
lighting
at
the
top.

avenue
reconstruction
project
was
a
community
effort
and
we
appreciate
everybody's
patience
during
construction.

We
will
provide
a
safe
and
efficient
corridor
access
to
business,
businesses
and
residents,
encourage
economic
development
and
revitalization,
provide
accommodations
for
all
users
and
enhance
the
corridor
through
street
lighting
and
aesthetics.

Our
final
design
of
segment.
One
will
begin
this
coming
winter,
with
construction
and
iowa
dot
bid,
letting
in
october
of
2022
for
the
corridor.
We
propose
several
different
enhancements,
including
recreational
trail
along
the
west
side,
from
shawless
to
mitchell
sidewalk
on
the
east
side
from
just
south
of
san
martin
to
lockheed
avenue
and
landscaping
improvements.

The
waterloo
center
for
the
arts
currently
has
phases
1
and
2
under
construction.
The
completion
of
phase
1
will
be
completed
next
year,
along
with
the
completion
of
phase
two
phase,
three
will
be
pending
funding
here.

entrance
for
the
waterloo
center
for
the
arts
and
the
colored
bands
of
payment.
That
will
be
added.
