Waterloo Fire & Rescue welcomed in 6 new employees on October 18th, 2021.

Good afternoon, everyone thank you so much uh for being here for this swearing-in ceremony uh a great day for the city of waterloo, and I would like to call up chi. Oh I'm, mayor, quinton, hart the city of waterloo and I caught like to call up chief uh pat treelor, so you hold it, but you don't talk to it. You talk to them.

Okay, thanks mayor, come on in closer.

Guys so we thought we'd do something new uh with cove and we were having some restrictions at city hall, so we thought we tried over here. This is the first time we've done it, so we may catch a call, may catch a fire, so we may have a few interruptions like a phone, but we thought we'd give it a shot and real happy to see everybody here today, uh thanks mayor and uh so how it's gonna work is I'll. Just give a quick introduction to our six new firefighters.

uh Then we'll have the mayor, heart swear them in and then we'll pin them with their badge. So it's always an exciting time to welcome new members into our family. These six have been through a lot to get to this point.

They've had a physical test, medical exams, a written test and more than one interview and now they're finishing their five weeks of training at the academy and next week, they'll be serving the citizens of waterloo. So we're always excited- and this is a great day for us.

So, first of all, I'd like to introduce patrick mcnally, patrick's, originally from osage and currently lives in waverly, he's married to his wife stacy, and they have an eight-year-old excuse me, eight-month-old son patrick, has his firefighter one firefighter two and hazmat operations, certifications he's a volunteer with the waverly fire department and before joining our family worked at midwest mold builders in waverly, so welcome. Patrick next is bill.

Demery bill grew up in waterloo, graduating from west high bill and his wife currently live in evansdale have a five-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son bill has his firefighter one firefighter two hazmat operations and emt certifications bill is an eight-year volunteer firefighter with evansdale fire department and before joining water waterloo fire. He worked for vgm, so welcome bill next is nate hinders.

Nate is originally from the cedar, falls. Waterloo, metro area and currently lives in springville. Nate is married to his wife bree, and they have a six-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.

Nate has his firefighter one firefighter two hazmat operations and emt certifications he's a volunteer firefighter with springville fire department and before joining our family worked with van meter. Welcome nate. Next, I'd like to introduce t.j davidson tj grew up in la porte and currently lives. There he's married to his wife katie and they have two daughters, tj's a nationally certified critical care. Paramedic he's a volunteer with the laporte city fire department and before joining our family, he was an ambulance supervisor for mercy.

One in waterloo welcome tj next is jacob helgeson jacob was born in evansdale and graduated from east high jacob and his wife brooke live in cedar falls with their two dogs.

Jacob has his firefighter one firefighter two hazmat ops operations and his instructor won certifications. He also has an associate's degree in fire science from dmacc and before joining waterloo. Fire worked for martin brothers last but not least so welcome jacob. Last but not least, is tim. Geesey tim was born and raised in waterloo, currently lives. In waterloo, tim graduated from west high he's married. They have two children, a son and a daughter that both attend hoover middle school tim's. Dad rick is a retired firefighter who served 30 plus years with our department before joining waterloo.

Fire tim worked for best buy for 20 years, installing car and home audio systems welcome tim. So those are six new members I'll turn it back over to mayor hart and he can give them the oath office.

All right, thank you, chief tree lauren. Thank you, gentlemen, as well, for stepping up to join the family of the best fire department in the entire state of iowa. So we want to thank you as well, but if you will please raise your right right hands and then I'm going to say I then you state your name and then from after that repeat after me, I.
